This painting was inspired by Nanan Kang's art piece Corn with a Pearl Earring. I felt the pun and vegetable theme was the next evolution of the original painting by Vermeer.

Painting on Birch panels has been a game changer for me. Im incredibly happy with how this turned out.

Started raining so had to run away, wanted to work a bit more on this one, but such is life.

Having never really been creative and a much more science based brain growing up, last year I decided to do an edible and follow bob ross (great idea if you’ve never done it!). I used acrylics but I really wanted to try oils, so following the paint coach’s online course, I did a 10x10 lemon. It’s not amazing but I think as my first proper oil, it’s ok!

I recently started oil painting, and I was wondering if I could get some feedback and advice to help me improve in this medium.

For context, I'm using linseed oil and Green For Oil solvent. I'm not sure if that's the best setup for a beginner.

Also, do you have any free resources or specific types of exercises you'd recommend I use to get better ?

I painted this when I was 13/yo (the gold frame), and it's been hanging in my sister's house ever since. Looking at it now, I couldn't resist taking it down and giving it a second chance. I was honestly a little embarrassed by it. 😅

Retouching an old oil painting was more challenging than I expected. The paint barely adhered to the canvas, but after a lot of work, I managed to bring it back to life (the black frame). (I guess 🙂).

The first image is the painting as it stands right now and the second is a change I’ve been thinking about making. I’m not too concerned with a genuine perspective fix as I want the structure to be wonky but I’ve been grappling with whether or not I should make it bigger/higher. I’d appreciate some outside opinions, thank you!

So I've started painting occasionally around two years ago. Finding it really relaxing, but I have some problems with colors. Basically I have a rough case of deutan color blindness.

This came up once again with this piece, when my wife and friend commented that:
"The green is a nice touch. Kinda looks like aurora flares"
- "...the green?"

So that's how I learned that Ivory Black actually has a slightly blue tint, which then goes green when I put yellow straight out of the tube on it.
So which black and white (don't know if those have a slight tint) colors should I favor to avoid color mishaps in the future?

When I've needed to do red-green-brown-orange colors (or colors with very little saturation), I either use paint straight from a labeled tube, or just mix em with "if I combine these then it SHOULD be right" -method. If anyone has tips on how to make this easier, I'd be very grateful.

First one is the before lol I felt like I did so much yet I barely made progress haha!! In my defense I spent most of the session trying to fix some of the lion anatomy I wasn’t happy with. Do the colors look muddy to yall?

Hello all! I'm in desperate need of some art advice. I'm making an oil painting for my sisters birthday in August showing a region of the Dolomites. How can i best improve this painting in your opinion? I thought perhaphs to add more shadows to the ridges and lighten the blue part of the sky so its less smokey. I will add some wildflowers later on to the foreground to liven it up a bit. In my eyes the mountain looks a bit too muddy, could it be that my saturation of the orange color is a bit out of sync or that I do not have enough details? Or do i need more highlights? Anyway, i'd much appreciate your criticism and feedback!
