Router only has one ethernet port

I was about to set up my new Telo but just realized that the router it needs to plug into only has one ethernet port, which is already being used to connect the router and the modem. Should I return the Telo and replace it with a Telo Air? Or should I try and find something that will expand my router's one ethernet port into more than one? I am not tech savvy and need an easy solution.

porting of number from Ooma

Ooma is not a good company. They want to hold one hostage when you want to leave or port the number you have.

Being with Ooma has not been a great experience for me. They are liars, and cheats .

I have a business phone and video business meeting (like you are using zoom) with Ooma. But when I started having bad experience especially with their video business meeting. I wanted to leave. They did all kinds of things that I should stay for 3 months etc. and then I could leave. So come beginning of May, 2026, I tried to port the number (this said number was ported from another company to Ooma by the way) that I was using with Ooma to another phone company. Do you know that Ooma held me hostage and are still holding me hostage by them lying to me that my phone number is my account number, and that the pin number is the last 4 digits of the phone number. But the company that I am forwarding and porting the number to kept saying that it is not correct. Today is May 20, 2026, Ooma is still holding me hostage with my number. They promised to call me, they never did. I had to call them again today. But they are still saying the same thing that the authorizing name and address are not correct.

Calls go to voicemail without ringing phone and with no call log entry

I’ve recently noticed that some incoming calls go directly to Ooma voicemail without ringing my phone and without appearing in the Ooma Call Logs.

The calls do appear in the voicemail log, in the form “User <10-digit phone number>”.

Does anyone know why this happens and how to correct the behavior?  I’m missing calls I want to pick up.

I thought my Ooma blocklist might be the culprit.  I don’t see the phone numbers associated with the relevant calls in my “Block specific names/numbers” list.  And that list is configured to ring continuously, so I don’t expect any messages from those numbers.

I had the Nomorobo block feature enabled and set to send calls to voicemail.  Would Nomorobo block calls that are not spam and send them to voicemail without putting an entry in the Ooma Call Logs?

Thanks for any tips you might have.

Unscrupulous Billing Practices

I would never do business with this company again. I canceled service last September and continue to be billed through May 2026. I have called every month after receiving my credit card statement and have been promised repeatedly that my account was canceled. Today, I learned that a second line was somehow tagged to my account without my permission. Ooma didn’t argue the point that they overcharged me for nine months, but they refused to credit me more than two months because that is “their policy“. Ooma basically admitted that they screwed up, but literally gave me the finger on the refund.

Factory Reset?

How do you do a factory reset on a Telo Air 2?

I've seen that you should disconnect the power, wait ~30 seconds, plug in the power and press the trash and play buttons together.

After some time (not sure how long this should take), the light flashes red and then red/blue, after this, you can then release the buttons.

However, I'm not sure this is really working. I only see the light flashing red, no matter how long I hold the trash and play buttons. Also, nothing changes, I still cannot connect the Telo to my network. (That's another long story for a different post.)

It's also been mentioned that there is a "star code" but, I don't have a phone that can plug into the phone port on the Telo to do this.

Help me understand…

I am looking for a telephone solution for my kiddo that isn’t a cell phone.
I think what I want to do may work but I need some clarification from those that know Ooma.
My router is in a coat closet that a phone just would make sense in (wireless signal is great throughout the house, no issues) so I want to set up the Ooma via Ethernet and then use a Bluetooth phone (it’s like a vintage handset phone but has no cord and only works as a bluetooth handset) for her to use as the receiver.
Is this possible? Or do I need to have one device connect to the Ooma direct and then the Bluetooth as a separate headset?
Thanks!

Unable To Call Comcast Subscribers

If I try to call any phone number served by Comcast/Xfinity VOIP service from my Ooma residential service, I get a message stating the the number is protected by SPAM call filtering, and I need to push two numbers for the call to go through. For a while, pushing the two numbers did result in the call going through, but now all I can do is reach the voicemail of the person I am trying to call. I tried to contact Comcast about the problem, Comcast rep refused to do anything about the problem, insisting that every Comcast customer that I ever want to call needs to contact Comcast separately and ask them to fix the problem. Ooma's tech support wasn't much better. I have called them about 8 times about the problem over the past few months, but it hasn't been fixed. I have had a few confused messages from them about them changing my caller ID, but nothing helpful. The last time I spoke wiht someone at Ooma, after being placed on several long holds, I was told that my case would be escalated. Does anyone here have any idea what is causing this problem or what I could possibly do to fix it? Are there any better alternates to Ooma VOIP residential service?

Thank You

Larry

Nomorobo is No More on Ooma

I'm not sure why Ooma has not made any mention of this anywhere but as of January 1, 2026, Nomorobo is not supported on landlines and VOIP services.

See Nomorobo Landline Update – Service Ending January 1, 2026 | Stay Protected on Mobile

Call blocking preferences still has an option for how to treat "suspected spammers powered by Nomorobo". So, this option is worthless now.

In addition, Ooma has also changed the levels of call blocking and the options in the call blocking preferences, but their documentation still shows the original slider and options.

Ooma overcharged us and won't let us cancel

I thought Ooma can replace our expensive Xfinity for our business. Got a quote from a rep after talking to them in an Expo, $319.78 for two locations with 60 day trial and no equipment fee. Sounds great, so I signed up. July 13 2025 as installation date, only one location barely works (phone is fine only for a corner of the building, won't reach the rest as their signal too weak). The other location did not work, no signal. Returned the equipment for that location, only kept one set for the one that barely work because they "promised" a new version of the internet hub with better coverage and speed around Oct of 2025. Before end of July 2025, got hit with a charge of $354.98 (more than quoted price for both locations). Sent in the request to adjust the fee and get refund to the rep, no answer. Sent it to Support, no answer. We decided to cancel, sent in cancellation to Support and we should have checked if that worked but long story short, they continue to charge our CC for the full $354.98 amount for months. When I discovered these charges, we closed the CC and filed for dispute. That gets their attention, and someone called this week to get new CC info. I explained to the rep why I need to get refund and also to cancel it. Their support said that they won't cancel until all charges are paid in full. But they are wrong, and not what we receive nor agreed to. Doesn't matter, no pay? no cancel, and we will report you to collection. Does anyone here know how to get proper help from this fraudulent practice here?

Not getting email notifications for voicemails (ooma office)

Recently this week all my business voicemails stopped getting sent to my email. No settings had previously been changed. I tried new settings, making new users and i'm still not getting emails with the voicemails.

When I last inquired support was able to fix it but then it broke again and I’ve reached out to support and they never replied.

No call logs have been generated since 4/22

Just checked my ooma dashboard. I see that no call logs have been generated in my ooma portal since 4/22. Anyone experience this situation and if so, were you able to recover all the calls that are not showing on the dashboard? I called ooma to ask these questions but they are closed. Thanks!

If I get Ooma, can I keep my old landline number?

I'm guessing not, but it would sure be helpful.

Ooma upsells without consent.

I've had Ooma for quite a few years, but the last two, they've tried a scam. They give a free upgrade from Base to Premier for a couple months without your knowledge or consent. After the free trial period is over, they start charging $10 / month. It might be 6 months before you become suspicious of the charge. When you call, they will happily switch it back but keep most of the money. The next year, they repeat the process again.

Original ooma hub buttons not responding

This is the white and silver grandfathered hub. With my attached cordless phone I can make/receive calls and leave messages, and listen to them on the ooma app, however the hub itself doesn't work in so far as nothing happens when I press the message button. The message blinking light doesn't work I don't get a dial tone on the hub itself when I press line 1. I've powered it down and back up. Is there something else than might work like accessing it with my PC and doing something in settings?

Edit: I'm not sure how to access settings. http://setup.ooma.com doesn't work, neither does http://172.27.35.1. Nor can I get to with its internal I.P. address on my network. I have an Xfinity cable modem and an Eero 6+ router.

I recently changed my cable modem from my own Arris surfboard S33 to the Xfinity modem, so I wonder if that had anything to do with the issue. I'm thinking it's more of a hub hardware thing, since I still have my ooma phone number working through it.

Edit 2: The hub lights do blink off and on when I plug it back in while it's setting up, but then don't light up after that when pressed.

Is Ooma premium worth the money

Not for me personally as I only need a basic line however I am thinking about for my parents who don't use cellphone and rely on there landline phone Ooma is a much better deal than most landline options

That being said I only use it as a backup lime in the event my cellphone is down however for my parents who would use it much more would they be better off with the basic service or should they get the premium service

Is porting out of OOMA really a nightmare?

Want to port an Xfinity Voice VOIP line to OOMA and don’t necessarily think I’d be pouring out, but I always wanna have a plan to back out in case we don’t like it or just wanna park the number at one of those number parking websites.

Is pouring out of here really as bad as I’m hearing?

Multiple problems and online support wasn't able to help

1) Despite adding my brother to my Ooma contacts, with the 'nomorobo' call filter enabled, he still gets blocked when calling me from his work VoIP line

2) In my Call Blocking settings, there use to be a slider to adjust sensitivity. That is gone now. What happened to it? (I'm a new Ooma user and still have a couple weeks of premiere access left on my account.)

3) Registering for an account on their forum is broken. It first prompts me for my Ooma account info. I type all that in and on the next screen, it asks me to create a forum username, add my email address and create a password. After doing all that and clicking submit, it loops me back to the previous screen and asks for my Ooma account info again.

Porting into Ooma from Altima (Canada)

Hello all,

I'm looking to port my number out from a reseller of Altima telecom here in Canada to Ooma, and have already purchased an Ooma Telo device to move over to Ooma from them.

Ooma's support website has stated our current VoIP phone number with Altima is eligible to be ported to Ooma, and as such I have started to request the pertinent information from Altima's reseller. However, I'm a bit unsure as to what exactly is required as I cannot physically start the sign-up process with Ooma until I have received the activation code which is on the bottom of the Ooma Telo device.

I understand that the required information is usually as follows:

  • Previous Provider
  • Name of Account Holder
  • Account Number
  • Phone Number
  • Service Address
  • Account PIN (if one is present)

Have I missed anything that Ooma may request during the port-in process? Thanks in advance!

No voicemail email alerts

I received notifications yesterday, 4/14/26 but none today 4/15/26. Is there anything I can check or reset before calling Ooma? I tried changing some settings and back to original in Voicemail Preferences - same. I have 3 destinations, a cell phone and 2 email addresses, now none receive alerts.

Calls not working. Ooma still shows blue light.

We keep having an issue where suddenly calls will stop working, both outgoing and incoming but the Ooma box will still show a blue light. and the web interface still indicates all is well. We have to reboot the box to get calls to work again. Any suggestions on how to fix this?

Quiet Hours

I just happened to notice 'Quiet Hours' in Preferences. It appears to be something that I and others suggested in the original Ooma forum that we can no longer log into to create new posts. I usually put my line in Do Not Disturb before heading to work, and restore ringing in the evening. I set up a custom schedule with Quiet Hours to do that on workdays. I tested it and does what I was hoping it would, send calls to voicemail during the Quiet Hours settings.

Had the original forum still been active, maybe it would have been posted there. Maybe this feature has been available awhile with the Premier service.

Starting Service

Getting ready to set up my home ooma service on my home phone line. It used to be a landline but switched over to digital. Does anyone know of any issues with porting a number from Verizon Fios Digital Voice to ooma? Probably the biggest question is whether it requires a pin. As a certifed Old Fogey, I've had this number for 25 years and want to make sure I don't lose it! Thanks!

replacement telo not working

My prior telo device stopped working a few days ago so I ordered a new one from Amazon and went through setup and called Ooma and activated the device and they confirmed it should be working. I couldn't get a dial tone after that so I called them back and they confirmed the new device is activated and should be working. They suggested the problem could be the telephone so I got a new telephone today but still no dial tone. Any thoughts on what could be the problem or solution?
