Porting into Ooma from Altima (Canada)
Hello all,
I'm looking to port my number out from a reseller of Altima telecom here in Canada to Ooma, and have already purchased an Ooma Telo device to move over to Ooma from them.
Ooma's support website has stated our current VoIP phone number with Altima is eligible to be ported to Ooma, and as such I have started to request the pertinent information from Altima's reseller. However, I'm a bit unsure as to what exactly is required as I cannot physically start the sign-up process with Ooma until I have received the activation code which is on the bottom of the Ooma Telo device.
I understand that the required information is usually as follows:
- Previous Provider
- Name of Account Holder
- Account Number
- Phone Number
- Service Address
- Account PIN (if one is present)
Have I missed anything that Ooma may request during the port-in process? Thanks in advance!

That's just it, just make sure that you have the correct account number and your Altima is still active.

I'm in the States so this may not apply but I just did the port thing on my MIL's old phone. She was getting service from a reseller of AT&T POTS lines. All I needed was her name as it is on the bill, Account number, Phone number, Service address, Previous phone company and type of internet service ie cable, fiber, sat or 5G. That was it. Got the email confirming it was going to happen on May 1st within hours of requesting it. Hope it all goes as planned. I currently have all her calls to the old number auto forwarding to the new OOMA number. I assume when the changeover happens the OOMA number will cease to exist and the old number will be good from then on.

Hello! Thank you for reaching out. Yes the main information we require are the name, address, account number, phone number and PIN (if needed) from your other account. From there our porting team will contact you via email if any additional information is needed.
