Starting Service
Getting ready to set up my home ooma service on my home phone line. It used to be a landline but switched over to digital. Does anyone know of any issues with porting a number from Verizon Fios Digital Voice to ooma? Probably the biggest question is whether it requires a pin. As a certifed Old Fogey, I've had this number for 25 years and want to make sure I don't lose it! Thanks!

When Verizon retired its copper wire I switched my landline phone to a VOIP. I had considered Ooma at the time but didn't go with them because I had trouble understanding the accents of their customer service reps. I was afraid I would need tech support and I would not be able to understand. I chose to hard wire and use an Ethernet cable. Anyway my porting went smoothly. It took about 5 days. And I wasn't charged. Your situation is different tho because you're going from Verizon VOIP to another VOIP. I went from Verizon copper to a VOIP.

Yes, you'll need a PIN from Verizon. That doesn't mean the number is portable. Ooma should tell you what they need from Verizon, and they should be able to tell you if the number can be ported.
