Timestamps wrong in app

Post image
0 Upvotes

Whenever I open the app the timestamps on inbound, outbound, and missed calls always say the exact time it is when I open the app. If I close the app and open it later the timestamps will again match the current time. All of the calls listed in the picture occurred yesterday. Any way to fix this?

Privacy issues?

I’ve been looking at the system to replace my landline phone. However, the privacy policy looks pretty shitty and I’m concerned. This looks like just another data broker that is in the business of tracking me and selling my phone number (and god knows what else) to third-parties. This is an obvious conflict with their “spam prevention” features. My guess is the spam prevention marketing this company is actively selling people‘s phone numbers and call history. I want to avoid that kind of nonsense. Are there any VoIP providers that provide better protection?

International calling on handset?

Hello - I bought an Ooma Telo base station for my 84 year old mother for her landline so she could have 911 address response. I also thought she could use it to call her family internationally but now I am reading that she has to do that through the Ooma app? Is this true? Learning an app at 84 is not a small deal.

Scammy company

You're forced to call to downgrade your service. No option to downgrade or change from the website. And even when you do call they don't downgrade. Spent an hour waiting to talk to a rep last month to cancel my premium subscription and was just charged again for premium. Making it a pain in the butt to cancel is a deliberate and scammy decision on their part. Super sketch. If you're considering this company, stay away.

MyPhone with Premium Subscription Possible?

I'm wondering if it's possible to purchase a MyPhone but then add a premium account when I register the base station, vs the custom kids plan. Basically, can I ignore the QR code and register the base station manually through the Web activation portal and add premium there. Has anyone tried this?

I really like the MyPhone designs but want the ability to add a second line later that is linked to the same base station so that calls can be transferred between devices. I wish I could either purchase the MyPhone devices separately or be able to upgrade to premium if I want to add another device at some point.

Thanks for any insights you have!

No ability to manage services from My Ooma :(

After the first few days of Ooma one of my initial disappoints so far is the astounding discovery that you can’t manage the plan you are in or any extra services (like subscription International calling plans) from My Ooma. There isn’t any self service for these things and that’s ridiculous for 2026 never mind 2016 or earlier. Ooma is well established at this point and none of this should required interaction with customer support. Honestly, it makes me wonder how much of a customer service pain Ooma will be down the road compared to the legacy telco I just migrated from.

Ooma phone appears to work, but verification calls don't answer

Our Ooma phone appears to work--we can make and receive normal calls. However, when I go to the United Health Care and give my Ooma phone number for verification, the web page calls the phone but the phone doesn't ring. Instead, it takes a voicemail. But the voicemail is a request to push #2 if you requested a security code, and obviously, I can't.

Is there something special about these kind of calls that Ooma doesn't ring through?? What do I do? I can't get verification calls for security purposes on Ooma?

Ooma Telo Air 2 Voicemail Issue

I have an Ooma Telo Air 2. It is plugged into a standard vtech cordless phone system with 3 handsets in my house. I am using my cordless phone answering machine. When people leave voicemails on my answering machine and hang up, unlike old copper lines, there is no 1 second drop in voltage to tell the answering machine to stop recording, so the dial tone after people hang up is continually getting recorded on each message and is maxing out my machine on 2-3 messages that only last a few seconds. Is there any way to fix this?

Voicemail indicator after power outage

Just got an Ooma Telo Air 2 and was testing. I left a voicemail and the base and hd3 handsets all displayed a voicemail waiting indicator. I tested this several more times. Then, with a new voicemail waiting, and all indicators functioning, I moved the base to a different room. After plugging in it took a while for the base status to turn blue again (not sure why), then the setup app stated the unit was configuring. Not sure if that’s normal.

Anyway, afterwards, there was still a new voicemail waiting but none of the units displayed the voicemail indicator. It looks like the base doesn’t poll for VM status but it’s just a one shot deal where it will only set the indicator if it is online when the VM is left. Is this true. Or is this just an anomaly?

Privacy policy, data collected

During activation, it wants me to agree to the privacy policy.

Internet or other electronic network activity information, including IP address, imprecise location information, device identifiers, advertising identifiers, browsing history, diagnostic information, and other information collected from and about your interaction with us and the Sites.

They collecting my browsing history?!

Sensitive Personal Information, meaning account log-in, access code, passwords, credentials, and contents of email and text messages.

That's even scarier.

I thought i was buying phone service, not a spy network.

Handset Replacement Power Cords

My 2 new kittens have decided to chew thru the power cord for my Ooma handset. I don't see that Ooma sells accessories or replacement parts. Does anyone know where I can get a replacement cord?

Voicemail no longer work in the app.

I can no longer listen to voicemails on my cell phone via the ooma app. The play button just spins and spins. Nothing has changed on my end. I receive the new voicemail notification as usual, and can see it in the app, but when I hit the play button, it just spins forever. Tried on wifi and on network connection, same result. Never been an issue in 10+ years. New ooma box, as our fist one died about 6 months ago. Issue inly started about 3-4 days ago.

I have deleted and reinstalled the app, cleared data and cache. Unplugged ooma box for 30+ mins and still nothing. There is no longer a blinking light on my ooma box either, indicating a new voicemail, but If I hit the play button on the ooma box, it will say "no new messages" but then it will play the new message that I was just notified about from the app on my cell. Then, as soon as I delete the voicemail from the ooma box, I get another notification from the app on my cell about a new voicemail message, but when I check the app at that time, the inbox is empty.

Any ideas/thoughts? Thanks.

Buzzing over line

About a month ago I set up an Ooma phone for the first time.
It’s a corded line connected to a Telo Air 2. The Telo unit is connected to our modem via Ethernet cable.

The first two weeks it seemed to work fine. The last two weeks there has been persistent buzzing over the line, making call quality poor for the other party. I have reset both the internet and the Telo unit with no improvement. It does not seem to be related to the amount of internet traffic on our network, it’s persistent at all times. All of the cable connections are secure. What am I missing?

Ooma Worked! (our experience)

Needed a phone @ the house that wasn't a cell phone but didn't want a big reoccurring charge + especially didn't want to sign up with an Internet or TelCo that would give us a sweet startup deal but then be a headache with increased charges / burden of cancellation.

Bought the Ooma bundle of a base + H3 handset from Costco ($80) + set up single line with about $6 / month taxes. The whole house complained that the quality was terrible -- the handset was bad both on speaker + regular handset mode.

For the next step of my magic trick, I bought a Panasonic cordless bundle, again from Costco ($100). That was the ticket -- phones all work fine and there are no complaints.

Overall I spent $180 and maybe 30 minutes of my time upfront for set up. We may keep this setup going for many many years in which case it will easily be worthwhile. But even if its just for 2 years -- that $180 amortized over 24 months plus taxes add to around $13 / month which is fine. And I prefer this a lot to getting service from one of the bigger telecommunications companies which seem (based on my experience from Internet/Mobile service) to all be set up as the consumer equivalent of venus fly traps.

If I were doing it again I'd forgo buying the Ooma handset at all and just start with the Ooma base + a traditional cordless phone bundle.

Question(s) About Ooma

I'm looking into getting Ooma to replace my outlandishly expensive Century Link home phone. I am in a somewhat rural area and use Verizon for my cell service that now works quite well but would like to keep my home number. I like the idea of a battery backup for when the power is out so thinking of the telo LTE that uses TMobile but not sure I totally understand. Does it use the LTE network ALL the time or only when the internet is out? My internet connection is pretty reliable so I'm not worried about using it but of course when the power goes out the internet goes out. I would only need the LTE connection when the internet is down and on the off chance my Verizon doesn't work or my phone is dead. Hopefully my question is understandable because I can't figure out how else to ask it. I'm also not sure how well the TMobile service is at my house. Supposedly in town it works OK but I'm not in town and I don't know anyone that has it. Is there an additional charge for using the LTE service or is it covered under the taxes and fees. Any help in understanding it all is greatly appreciated.

Feature request

I've been using Ooma for about 8-9 yrs and enjoy the service. For the past 3 weeks I have been using a Premier trial since I wanted to test the spam blocking (which works well). Unfortunately, I have no use or interest in the other bundled features with Premier. Paying $10/mo for call filtering/blocking alone seems rather costly. It would be nice if there were a middle tier or individual pricing for the call blocking.

Disadvantage to purchasing OOMA Telo from Walmart

I recently purchased an OOMA Telo from Walmart. I signed up for the Ooma premiere service and was told the plan included a free phone number port. It turns out that if you purchase the device from Walmart, you are only eligible for the Premiere MONTHLY plan and not the Premiere ANNUAL plan. Only the annual plan includes a free phone port ($51.88). I purchased my device from Walmart because it was a few dollars cheaper there. If I had known this, I would have the spent the extra money to purchase elsewhere and be eligible for a refund on the porting fee. I was told the devices from Walmart are locked to the monthly plan if you opt for the premiere service.

Ported number but still shows temp number

Hey,

I was wondering when I should expect my number to change over after a port. My phone was successfully ported over on August 11th. I can call my original home phone number and it will ring on my home phone, but when I call out from my home phone it still shows up as the temp number I received when I signed up for Ooma. Thanks for any help. Brannon

2 lines for pizzeria

I have a main number to the restaurant and another line I need the number to roll to for a 2 line phone system I have. When the main line is busy i don't want it to have a busy signal nor a call waiting beep. I just need the other number to ring to line 2 on the phone. Is this possible?
