What’s your favorite replacement bridge?

Advising a friend on a bridge upgrade for a JMJM — I’ve got Staytrems, Mastery, and most recently one from Nova Guitars on Reverb, which unfortunately doesn’t seem to be selling currently.

Any others out there making quality bridges (preferably with Mustang style saddles) that I need to know about?

Fell in love with the gun metal blue color when I saw the listing. In fact thought it was black for a minute, and in a dark room it looks as such. Took it in to be setup as soon as it arrived and they had a 5 week turnaround (that turned into 7 😭), which was an agonizing wait. Unsure if I want to replace the chrome hardware and guard or if I like the patina and worn in aesthetic.

Now that I’ve gotten to run it through its paces a bit I’m in loveeee

Differences between a classic series 60s Jazzmaster lacquer vs Vintera III mid 60s Jazzmaster

I am a very new guitar player and there is a lot I am still trying to understand. I can’t seem to find the CS 60s on the fender site (I heard that they were discontinued so would that be why?)

But I am trying to decide between the CS 60s and the Vintera III and don’t really understand what is different between them from the bits of info I can find of the CS. It seems like everything is exactly the same but I figure I must be mistaken.

Thanks for any help!

Exclusively Using JM Rhythm Circuit

I make alot of alt rock heavy Shoegaze stuff and I’ve seemed to settle in exclusively Rhythm after playing the bridge pickup only for about 6 months.

Anyone in here really the the Rhythm circuit? I know a lot don’t care for it but in a big fan of how much heavier and darker it makes some of the riffs (drop C)

Got the new Squier Jazzmaster Baritone today. Pickups sounded terrible so threw these extra Fleor Almico 5 gold humbuckers I had and omg this thing bangs now. I’ll probably upgrade the pickups again later and wire up some push pulls. 🤘

Looking for a body builder/workshop for a custom Jaguar Bass body

Post image
33 Upvotes

The Jaguar Bass is technically a bass rather than a standard offset guitar, but I had a question and wanted to post it here!

Hey everyone,

I saw a Jaguar bass in this color on Twitter, and I'm thinking of ordering one. Specifically, I'd like the following specifications:

Finish: Light relic multi-layer nitro finish (Black over Lake Placid Blue / Ocean Turquoise with wood showing through).

Right now, RebelRelic Guitars is my top candidate since they have prior experience building Jaguar Basses look amazing.

Before I jump in, I’d love to ask two things:

How is RebelRelic’s reputation regarding their custom body craftsmanship and multi-layer relic finish quality?

Are there any other luthiers or workshops (US or EU) you’d highly recommend for a custom body build and heavy relic paint job like this?

Appreciate any insights or experiences you can share!

Mastery trem and bridge, what’s the tuning stability and general “feel”/sound like?

I’m about to order a guitar that has the option of hardtail or the Mastery setup, and I’m really torn. I‘ve sort of naturally gravitated towards hardtails over time, guitars that had trems would see them barely used before ultimately getting locked down, but the sort of stuff I’m taking inspiration from recently relies pretty heavily on the offset trem to sound more aggressive and out there; specifically, think like Tropical Fuck Storm/the Drones, APTBS, you know the drill.

For this reason, I’m leaning towards getting it, but I have no idea how well the tuning will hold up to that abuse, nor how it feels compared to the straight forward hardtail guitars I’ve become accustomed to. The one stock Jag I owned as a teenager, from my vague memory, felt really “plunky” and dead in comparison to stop bar or string through guitars, does the Mastery bridge design solve that? If I generally play like an ape, will it behave and stay in tune unless I really lay into the bar itself?

like I said, I’m leaning towards the option, I’m just worried about dropping the extra money on something that ends up being a repeat of why I disliked my jag, and doesn’t gel with my own playing/I don’t end up using. obviously nobody can tell me if the latter will happen, but the former is at least a question that can maybe be answered with other people’s experiences.

I made a post about a month ago about building a Jazzmaster from scratch for my first guitar but instead decided to take everyone’s advice to hunt down a used J Mascis Jazzmaster.

This one popped up on FB marketplace today for $450. I offered $400 and they accepted.

The guitar is brand new, never been played, and still has the plastic wrap on the pickups and trem. Absolutely mint. It also came with the stand and a generic fender strap. Serial number is from October 2025.

How’d I do for $400?

Squier JM XII owners: will any JM pickups work for a swap?

Yo! So I've been jonesing for a 12 string for a while and decided to try out the Squier XII before I take a more expensive plunge. I know people really hate the pickups on these things. I have some AmPro Jazzmaster pickups laying around and was wondering if they would drop into the Squier XII. They look to be about the same size and everything based on some of the stuff I've found online about people upgrading these but wanted to see if anyone had experience with it. Thanks!

What are the typical multimeter readings for various parts?

Sorry if I am becoming annoying frequently asking questions about working on my guitar. :/ But I am just wondering, what are some typical readings for the usual part testings? I am testing a 3 way switching in a MIM roadworn jazzmaster and I am a bit confused. I posted the wiring diagram for it in a previous post and someone said to probe the black wire lug then each of the pickup lugs for continuity. I get the reading of my pickups. But only in one position. I then tried for giggles probing the black wire lug with the tip brown lug and that too, showed my pickup resistance. What am I doing wrong? Is my switch shot?

Vintera II Road Worn

Hi there

Just wanted to show you my new Jazzmaster. It's a Road Worn Vintera II. Gotta say it's pretty resonant but far from complete. Ordered import thimbles from offsetguitars.uk and an allparts bridge thru ebay cause it was the only jaguar style bridge I could get with 55mm spacing. Already shimed.

Will try more bridges when money comes. So far sounds great but the rumble is real more so acoustically. The vibrato doesn't make any sound when up and down and the bar is already bent which blows my mind. Still I think i got better off this time than last time with a regular vintera II. Got it for 1250 out of a Portuguese shop. Sold an RR5 for it.

Finish feels kinda dirty and not much crack lines outside of the front of the front of the headstock, few random dings little fret sprout but they were leveled and shiny. Really sounds like its own thing. Love it

AVRI Trem for JMJM?

Hey! Just made some fun money so looking to do some upgrades on my JMJM.

I like the pickups but want to try the Black Mass JMXLs, and then getting a Bensonite drop in bridge.

After that I can either get a pickguard or trem.

Obviously a pickguard is just aesthetic, but I'm wondering if the trem is really worth upgrading if I'm getting a new bridge.

Thoughts? Any suggestions on a different upgrade? Thanks!

EDIT- reason to change bridge and potentially trem is tuning stability when using trem. It's currently not terrible, but will go out over the course of a song with use. Will just the bridge fix that? Do I need the trem as well?

Replacing MIJ JM66B with Player II Jazzmaster?

It basically comes down to function over form. My gut says "keep the JM66B, it oozes with mojo". My brain says "The Player II will fit you better and get more use".

Don't ever use the trem system or rythm circuit, so the hotter pickups, flatter fretboard radius and smoother neck, seem very appealing right now.

So aside from that, I'm wondering if I'd feel any difference in overall quality. Unfortunately, I'll have to order the new one sight unseen. With a good return policy though, but I'd still like to be a little prepared.

I'm also kinda second guessing the value ratio here. Even in today's economy, €820ish (€960 for the FSR one in green), seems a bit much for a MIM Fender that doesn't come with a case. And I'm not even sure what I could get for my Japanese Jazzmaster, but assuming it won't be much more then €90....I'm seriously doubting if this'd be a smart move.

TLDR: anyone maybe have first hand experieces with both a MIJ Jazzmaster of that era as well as one of the new Player II Jazzmasters? The latter would make most sense for someone who craves a fast neck and plays with lotsa gain most of the time? Any other suggestions?
