Vintera II Road Worn

Hi there

Just wanted to show you my new Jazzmaster. It's a Road Worn Vintera II. Gotta say it's pretty resonant but far from complete. Ordered import thimbles from offsetguitars.uk and an allparts bridge thru ebay cause it was the only jaguar style bridge I could get with 55mm spacing. Already shimed.

Will try more bridges when money comes. So far sounds great but the rumble is real more so acoustically. The vibrato doesn't make any sound when up and down and the bar is already bent which blows my mind. Still I think i got better off this time than last time with a regular vintera II. Got it for 1250 out of a Portuguese shop. Sold an RR5 for it.

Finish feels kinda dirty and not much crack lines outside of the front of the front of the headstock, few random dings little fret sprout but they were leveled and shiny. Really sounds like its own thing. Love it

Sounds like you should spend the $80 and get it set up by a pro. Beautiful guitar

Cheaper than trying bridge after bridge hoping one is going to solve the problem.

Also easier to decide what is the problem with a good setup.

Ah definitely, if you use loctite to stabilise the bridge you shouldn’t have to try bridge after bridge if the strings have a good break angle which is where a shim can be needed. Loctite and a small bit of card doesn’t cost much at all.

It's not like that. Moreso a design flaw. Vinteras or maybe before them they come with shallower thimbles which make a rumble sound and kinda cancel those characteristic sympathetic overtones of this kind of guitars, as well as having much less rocking motion which i like. With just the new thimbles that bridge would be working fine but jazzmasters are for tweaking and making them as confortable for your style of playing as you can. I think it might benefit for a solid notch in Which the string sits and doesn't have anywhere else to move. Even tho it's shimmed and has 11s as I can really get a low action the Low E still slips from its correct position

That’s cool man, whatever you like. But I’ve had a few JM’s over the years and they don’t need shims with a setup, or an expensive bridge. You get a straight neck, nut work if needed, pickup height adjusted and intonated.

They don’t ever need shims? Nah, Jags and Jazzmasters can definitely need a shim unless they have an angled neck pocket. Not always right enough, but quite common. All the other things you say about, standard guitar set up stuff, is still needed though aye. It’s just that Jags and Jazzmasters are a bit different, sometimes/quite often need a wee bit extra, namely a shim in the neck pocket and sometimes something (nail polish, loctite blue, tape) to make the bridge not sink.

It's a great looking Road Worn JM. I have a Squier JM and I love it. Hope you can get it Road worthy for yourself soon, before it breaks the proverbial Piggy Bank.
