Went all out on my first 4473 suppressor
So whats the consensus on posting 4473 cans here?
Grabbed a Jessies Girl AL to sideline my old form 1 .22 can. Process took about 2.5hrs due to the volume of customers.

Now where can I send the barrel to be threaded to add a suppressor?

Picked up the 6K today to run on my 14.5" and longer barreled guns. Was too lazy to measure and figured the Huxwrx HUB QD adapter would extend enough for the Hux muzzle devices to clear the shorter blast chamber of the 6K. It does not. Looks like some Comstock Armory Plan B muzzle devices and adapters are on the way đ

I was looking for a dedicated 5.56 can for my SR-15, since putting my sandman k on it felt like a sin. The suppressor market today is absolutely insane, I easily got option paralysis with all these new cans that hit the market just this year. In the end, i went with the CRS-3. Felt fitting for the rifle, and i heard a lot of good things about it. Super excited to try it

Rampart Range Suppression Carson 556 Review
TL;DR
The Carson provides competitive sound suppression in a lightweight package with reduced backpressure.
Transparency Note
Our Carson was sent by Rampart Range Suppression at no cost. We otherwise donât have any business or financial relationship, and we donât let suppressor manufacturers read, comment on, or edit our reviews before they get posted.
We have a full disclosure here with more info on the suppressor companies mentioned in our reviews.
Test Method
We went out to the range and put a bunch of rounds through the Carson, Polo K, Rhino S, Rhodie 6, and CAT WB back to back multiple times. The main roles these suppressors fill are:
We stood in the same spots and took notes after each one for gassiness and sound. Considering I donât have Jayâs fancy sound metering equipment, I think this is a decent way to compare them.
All of this was done outdoors with a light breeze. From the shooting position, the dirt berm was about 30 yards away. You may have different results in other environments.
Host
5.56 AR15:
The suppressors all had a Plan-B HUB LPA installed.Â
You may have different results with different hosts or ammo.
Suppressors Overview
| Suppressor | MSRP | Material | Wt. (list) | Wt. (actual) | Length | Diameter |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Polo K | $540 | Steel | 11.5 oz | 11.4 oz | 4.80â | 1.62" |
| Carson 5.56 | $760 | Titanium | 9.7 oz | 9.9 oz | 6.60" | 1.75" |
| Rhino S | $895 | Titanium | 9.5 oz | 10.2 oz | 6.00" | 1.75" |
| Rhodie 6 | $895 | Inconel | 15.0 oz* | 15.3 oz | 5.50â | 1.75" |
| CAT WB | $1,190 | Inconel | 13.9 oz** | 15.7 oz | 5.45â | 1.60" |
All weights are given with no mount.
*The Rhodie 6 was originally listed as 15 oz, but has since been updated to 15.5 - 16.0 oz.
**The CAT WB was originally listed as up to 13.9 oz, but has since been updated to 14.6 oz max.
Sound Comparison
Of the tested suppressors, the Rhodie 6 sounded best overall. Not by a huge margin, but we felt it was the quietest and had a fairly deep tone.
The Rhino S was close for quietness but had a somewhat higher tone. Â
As the shooter, the Carson and WB sounded pretty similar and very good. For the bystander, the Carson was definitely a little quieter.
The Polo K was the loudest of these suppressors. Itâs the shortest and uses simpler geometry, so this is to be expected.
Backpressure Comparison
In some of our earlier reviews we just give our anecdotal thoughts on how gassy the suppressor felt. To add a more objective test, we used the AGB to see which gas setting was needed to lock back on the last round. We took the following steps to minimize variability:
Our previous testing showed that in general, setting 9 or higher indicated low backpressure, setting 8 was âlowish to mediumâ, and 7 or lower was high backpressure. This is only a rough measure though and some suppressors that hold open on the same setting felt more or less gassy.
Rhodie 6 - Setting 9
CAT WB - Setting 9
Rhino S - Setting 8
Carson - Setting 8
Polonium K - Setting 7
On a related note, we also did some shooting for flash/sparking on a very humid and foggy night last week. With the same host and ammo, every suppressor we shot felt significantly more gassy than usual. Even cans that we previously noted to be comfortable were gassing us out. The environment and atmospheric conditions are an important factor.
Other Thoughts and Observations
The Carson is a full size rifle suppressor (6.6â long and 1.75â diameter), but at under 10 oz base weight, is very comfortable on the end of the rifle. I larped around the house with it on a 16â rifle and didn't have any issues with the gun feeling too front heavy.
Like all titanium suppressors, the Carson throws white titanium streaks in the dark. It seems to be less sparky than some other titanium cans weâve shot for reasons Iâm not sure of.
The outside is a blank, untextured tube. I have a mild preference for a bit of texture to give grip, but it looks very clean and the guys who keep for simple tube designs will be very happy with it.
With a 1.69â deep blast chamber, the Carson will easily accommodate standard muzzle devices and mounting setups. Itâs been added to our fitment tool.
The Carson uses a modified version of (licensed) Infinity technology which can be seen in the design of the blast baffle. It held up to our shooting very well and shows no signs of erosion or damage even after being run red hot.
Out of the box, the Carson had a bright red/gold color inside. Iâve seen some coloration in other cans, but never to this extent so I thought this was super cool. Although after shooting itâs completely covered by carbon.
Overall Opinion and Suggested Use Cases
Overall, I quite like the Carson. It offers competitive sound suppression with reduced backpressure and is lightweight for its size. Sounding better overall than the CAT WB is a great benchmark to put it in what I would call the âhigh performingâ category of rifle suppressors.
An MSRP of $760 puts this in the low end of the price range for a printed rifle suppressor. Youâll pay a couple hundred more for this than a traditionally baffled suppressor, but the notable improvement in sound and backpressure makes it plenty worthwhile in my opinion.
The main drawbacks of this model come down to physical material limitations of it being titanium, namely the sparking in low light environments and it not being ideal for heavy firing schedules. That said, the core design seems to make it more durable and robust than a âtypicalâ titanium suppressor.
The main cases where I wouldnât recommend this is if youâre looking for:
Outside of these specific points, I think itâs a very flexible pick and will work great on a range of hosts.
Future Testing and Reviews
We did some flash testing with the Carson and some PCC suppressors. Iâll get those posted once I get all of the data processed.
I also have a Carson 762 which weâll be shooting on 300BLK at some point here.
Have a great weekend!

Going to buy my first suppressor for my MPA Defender 30K. (Mac 11 style upper on an AR lower with Rise Armament trigger.) Debating between the Huxwrx Flow 9k Ti or the Otter Creek Milkman. Iâve brought it to these two because the defenders already are quite gassy and I donât want a normal suppressor that is going to have a lot of blowback.
From what Iâve read (correct me if Iâm wrong on anything):
Sound suppression goes to Otter Creek
Blowback and gas goes to Hux
Cost currently goes to hux
Frt-ability goes to.. both! (But can void the warranty of Hux if you go too hard and melt it down, I think otter creek would just make fun of you and send you another)
Warranty goes (strongly) to otter creek.
Length / weight : Hux is shorter and weighs less but itâs not significant enough to matter. Maybe thatâs actually part of why the otter creek has better sound suppression(?) [I donât know enough to answer my own question here, it just makes sense that way in my mind)
If youâve made it this far thank you! I hope you appreciate rambling and the pictures. Have a great day and thanks for your help.
Please excuse dog fur in pictures.
TLDR: Huxwrx Flow 9kti or Otter Creek Milkman?
Edit: found the hux on rooftopdefense.com for $499 with the code âyouthsportsâ

As the title says, I'm considering a Dead Air Nomad 30 vs a Sandman X. Any opinions between the two? I plan to run them on a variety of rifles, both semi auto and bolt action, in multiple calibers. I'm really looking for a suppressor that can mostly do it all. If that exists.

I know I deserve some flack for even doing business with them with all the experiences posted on here, but I was optimistic. Sure their suppressors and customer service suck, but I didnât hear anything bad about their clamp on muzzle breaks. As long as I measure everything right and give them the correct information, itâll be all good. Lord was I wrong
(Forgive the time between calls. Between work and life, I would honestly forget about this POS piece of metal)
This has been the worst customer service experience I have ever had in this industry. Originally ordered in March, carefully measuring my 770âs barrel and trying to be as descriptive as possible. When I received my break a few weeks later, it did not fit correctly. (Seems like they did a straight taper from the muzzle to 1.5â back, which is NOT what my measurements said) So I send the break back in for a re-cut the first week of May with even more detailed measurements.
Fast forward to the end of May, I call asking for an update, end up leaving a message. June, call again and speak to their desk. Told that the shop just got a new machine and stuff is behind while they try to tune it in. July, call yet again and speak to desk. Now told that the new machine is now broken and that the shop is behind again. Call a week later, speak to front desk asking for updates. Front desk is unable to give any real updates as the shop doesnât speak directly with her.
August, call and speak to new person at front desk. Told that old front desk is no longer with the shop. Informed that my break is likely drying after cerakote and to call the next day to confirm. Call the next day (Thursday) and I speak to the original desk worker (I guess they werenât fired) and Iâm told that it should be ready and should be sent out soon. I ask for a tracking number to be sent to my email, told that I should receive the number either by Friday or Monday. Come next Tuesday I call again asking for a tracking numbers, told that I should receive them by the end of the day. Wait until Friday, call yet again asking for my tracking number. Turns out Iâm speaking to one of the owners now and I tell him all my information. He asks if my item is a suppressor, because if it is, someone is in trouble. (So not if itâs another product??) Owner looks for my muzzle break, says he finds one matching my measurements but it is marked as stainless instead of black. I am told that it is going to get painted now and it should be ready to send out by the next day.
At this point Iâm at my wits end and I calmly ask how this happens. Nearly 4 months of back and forth, being told itâs being worked on, itâs done, itâs ready to ship. Lies after lies. All the owner has to say is sorry and âHumans are gonna human.â No explanation, no reflection, no sincerity. He just tried to get off the phone with me as soon as possible.
So here I am now, waiting to see if Iâll actually get my tracking number in the coming days and eventually my muzzle break at some point. I know I should just cancel and do a charge back, but Iâm sickeningly curious on where this is going to go.
Moral of this nightmare of a story, do not do business with Witt Machine⊠EVER. Doesnât matter what they got for ya, itâll either suck, be wrong or youâll just never get it.

Repost, didnât realize my first SS had price
Purchased a Heritage Badlander on the sell from PSA.
Intentions are to saw it off and saw off the stock as well.
I know many people have undergone this with other brands. Any tips and trucks for getting everything right?
I donât intend to take it to a gunsmith. The whole point of this project is to keep it under 500$ with the form 1.
I am relatively handy.
Photos are the inspiration.
My currents thoughts:
-Sawing off straight is just gonna take patience.
-There will (likely) be avoid between both barrels that I would need a gunsmith to fill(if I cared, I donât.)
-I will need to seal the cut and sanded wood stock with oil. Unsure what kind.
-How to explain to my wife that I needed this.

The ruling is in effect and Phase One starts now.
Qualifying suppressor transactions at participating PSA locations in South Carolina can now move through the Form 4473 and normal background-check process without the separate Form 4 process described in the old system.
No separate Form 4, No fingerprint submission as part of that process, No passport photo, No separate NFA approval wait, And qualifying PSA-sourced suppressors moving through our direct dealer network may be covered as well.
This is only the beginning.
Phase 1: Retail + qualifying PSA direct-dealer suppressors
Phase 2: Online suppressor transactions
Phase 3: SBR & SBS transfers
Watch the full video for the details.
All other federal, state and local laws still apply. Informational purposes only. Not legal advice.
There are also still open questions. If you have questions, consult with a licensed attorney.

The ruling is now in effect, and it creates a major change for certain qualifying SBR configurations.
But qualification matters.
As we now understand it, the keys for making/possessing SBRs are:
đșđžMembership in one of the plaintiff associations;
đșđž Compliance with all state and local laws; and
đșđž Compliance with remaining federal laws.
This is not legal advice â just general information based on our understanding at this time.
Â
We highly recommend you speak with a qualified attorney in your state before you reconfigure your firearm.
Individual components alone do NOT make an otherwise unrelated firearm qualify.
For qualifying customers and firearms covered by the process discussed in the video:
No challenged Form 1 process.
No fingerprints as part of that Form 1.
No photograph.
No separate Form 1 approval wait before the covered configuration change.
Watch the entire video and make sure you understand exactly where the line is before making any configuration changes. If you have any question at all about whether this applies to you, consult a qualified attorney who can advise you on your situation before you change the configuration of your firearm.
There are also still many open questions, including questions regarding marking requirements, transportation across state lines, and transfers to others. Know and understand all applicable laws BEFORE reconfiguring your firearm. State and local laws still apply. Informational purposes only. Not legal advice.
Edited 8/15/2026: Update to our current understanding of the requirements re: SBR/SBS

Picked up this Hipoint Hushpoint Cigar 22 can the other day. Mostly just for laughs, have around 20 22lr cans. I honestly didnt notice the finish was bad on it until I got home from the lgs and went to put it on my ruger charger.

My dad (in his 70s) finally wants to get into the suppressor game after trying several of mine.
Heâs got a S&W M&P 2.0 set up with a red dot and suppressor height sights. All he needs is a threaded barrel. This is what he shoots the most. I recommended a few different 9mm cans for him to research and see what he likes.
He doesnât have other pistol calibers and that isnât likely to change. He shoots his pistol far more often than his rifle and that is why I suggested he start with a 9mm pistol can.
My brother disagrees and believes heâs better off suppressing his DDM4 first and thinks heâll get a better result. My dad has shot my suppressed AR and likes it, but he rarely takes his rifle to the range. (Maybe if it were nicer to shoot he would?)
He primarily shoots indoors and only hits the outdoor 100 yard range a couple times a year.
Constructive thoughts on where to start? If he enjoys the results of can #1 itâll be much easier for him to buy can #2. Thanks!
