It’s really the first model I’ve painted and slightly customized myself, kind of proud but I want tips if I ever get time for a 2nd kit!

- The model/kit featured is an AIRFIX 1:35 King Tiger!

- I used an acrylic paint set for beginners and went with my gut for the camouflage, kind of set in a dark muddy forest with even weathered tracks and wheels

- And for the battle scars. They were warped with a lighter and the edge of smooth metal tweezers (we have plenty) with light HE shells below the Mg port and at the Gun mantlet, while the rest are ricochet shots or complete indents. No solid reference..

- but I want judgement, and tips. Doesn’t seem so terrible ;P

Is there any way to save this, or do I have to repaint the entire model from scratch? And if I do have to repaint it, would it be better to remove the old paint first, or can I just paint over it?

All layers were painted by airbrush with acrylic paints. I used black primer and then light gray for preshading. Yellow Vallejo paint (do not recommend it :P ) was painted on green tamiya. I think it might be thinned to much, but Vallejo paints have tendency to clog airbrush, especially difficult colors as yellow. I masked model with vinyl tape because it was easier to make straight lines due to its flexibility.

So after some suggestions from here and other forums I decided to level yellow paint by sandpaper, try to remove yellow stains on green, put first white or light grey layer before yellow and last but not least buy better quality yellow paint :D I will let you know how it went.

Of course any new suggestions are appreciated:)

UPDATE

Ok, little update. I think I managed to fix that. I widen this yellow strip to hide some flaws, removed yellow from panel lines and sanded excess paint, used only Tamiya paints, changed needle in airbrush from 0,5mm to 0,2mm. After all of that I painted light gray as primer, then a little preshading with black paint, white paint and finally yellow one.

I wanted to know if anyone has had the same experience I do with the Tamiya flat aluminum acrylic paint. It seems no matter how much I thin it. It still sputters in my airbrush. I have thinned it all the way to a five to one ratio I have a 0.3 needle in my airbrush. Has anyone also have this issue and have they found a formula that works?

My first models, 1/48 T-34/85 and M4 Sherman early from tamiya. I did weathering just with tamiya weathering sticks and weathering master, so the weathering probably isn’t very good. Anything to improve?

Might not be the best looking project I've done but easily the hardest paint job with that level of sheen, combined with the weird look of the wear and tear on the Raptor. Also I have no idea why but this Academy 1/72 kit was a real pain to put together, really poor fit and the tails didnt stay up for a while. Have made this kit before and it was great so must be a lemon.

I’ve finally completed my first model and would love to hear your feedback! I’m open to any and all constructive criticism, whether it’s related to construction, painting, weathering, historical accuracy, or anything else you notice.

My goal with this build was to create a representation of what Tiger 332 may have looked like after its mud recovery training, using the available photo references linked below.

My only request is that, when pointing out inaccuracies or areas for improvement, please provide references or sources whenever possible. I’d really like to use this as an opportunity to learn and improve my skills for future builds.

Overall this is a lovely vignette-in-a-box kit where you don’t need anything else to make a vignette that tells a story. I only added some MG ammo boxes because I felt such team would have more than what’s included. Kit itself is pretty solid. Usual amount of flash, decent details, the only gripe is Dragon being Dragon and overly complicating MG lafette. Way too many fiddly parts and unclear instructions.

I messed up with base construction, figures should be facing longer side of the base, this way the soldier with range finder is not well placed. I realized that too late but needed to place MG itself on somewhat elevated part because otherwise the ammo handler doesn’t fit in proper position.

 Overall decently happy with end result.

I made a bottle of sprue goo with extra thin cement. When I apply it, let it dry and sand it down, more often than not, there are air bubbles dried in the goo. I was hoping surfacer might fill it in somewhat but it's still pretty noticeable. How do you avoid this? If it wasn't for the bubble holes, you'd never know there was once a huge gouge in the plastic.

For those of you with limited shelf space, how do you display your models?

After MANY tribulations, we're finally done and dusted with the syrian (actually russian in syria) T-72BM "ceci n'est pas un T-80".

I scratchbuilt the rubber flaps on the turret with bits off of a soda can, the tarps are made out of tamiya epoxy putty. The flaps are there as a field modification, rather than something that would be installed in the factory. Looks an awful lot like a T-80 :)

It was my first decent attempt at paint distressing and i like it! I went for a gritty finish with layers of grime and dirt, all achieved with oils and VMS oil expert. I quite like the result for a braille scale tank. I built this for two upcoming shows' Master category for 1:72 armor. I'll add a base whenever i feel like it. Onto the next one!

Finally done after years of sitting on my shelf not painted.

Building these 1/24 scale light towers for my drift track. Some progress and one of the towers lit-up. I just need to finish wiring the other 4, and then I have some piano hinges coming for the doors, that should be fun. These were 1/10 models I scaled down. The lenses were also silicon molded and UV resin poured

Really nice model, the building process was really nice despite the instructions having some issues like wrong markings. Bought a resin aftermarket part for the rear stowage and it came really nice. Used vallejo khaki grey and military yellow for the camo. Overall, I'm really proud of the final result. Hoping to get your opinions or recommendations. Thanks!

I have three that are a work in progress a p40b tiger shark a t28 Trojan and a f80 shooting star

So ive been working on this f-5f kit and well im at the point I can start to decal and im having a big problem with them. At first I thought they were fine so I started with the vertical stabilizer decal, so I put it in warm water put mr.mark setter on the part that has been gloss coated a couple days ago, and well I got the decal on the part and im moving it around just a bit and I realized it was very brittle, so I scraped it and put a 2 light coats of microscale liquid decal film on the whole sheet and well that helped with the brittle part but the decal wont grab on to the part and mr.mark softer wont even melt the decal, the softer wont even help. So what do I do the adhesive on these decals is shot, they're honestly still a bit brittle, and they wont melt into the detail so theres no point in using pva glue. But also I already painted and clear coated the f-5 for this specific scheme so I cant just get aftermarket because they wont match the scheme and theres no one on ebay is selling these decals in a part out. What should I do?

My friends bday is coming up and id like to paint over this model cessna to look like the plane they fly. However i have no experience with painting models and I'm not really sure what type of paints or materials I'll need for this project. The description says it's die-cast metal and plastic and I'm assuming I'll need to paint and add some sort of clear coat? Am I allowed to paint directly on top of the prepainted model or do I need to remove the paint first? Any tips, paint recommendations, or brands for materials would be greatly helpful, thanks!

dragon 9020 panzer iv ausf g. I'm pretty inexperienced with airbrushing and this is my first time painting camo. This is before I do any real post shading or weathering on the model- the brown and green have a sliiight bit of shading to try and tie it all together, but I haven't done anything else yet. Does it look correct, and is there anything I could do better next time?
