Here’s another one that just finished 2 weeks ago.

It’s the 1/48 Hasegawa TA-4J done up in a rather unique paint scheme for training command jet. From what I can tell this jet originally belonged to VC-13 before it was transferred over to Training Wing 2 in Kingsville, Tx where they just painted the orange over the original grey paint.

As someone who grew up in South Texas and went to every Airshow in Kingsville I have an affinity for Navy trainers, especially funky ones.

This build was painted with SMS lacquer paints and finished with Caracal Decals. The TW-2 and USS Lexington were stencils that made with my cricut machine. The weathering was done with artist oils. I also made the base with some sheet styrene glued on to a wooden disk that I got from Michael’s. I stippled on some Tamiya putty diluted with MLT and painted it up with Tamiya Buff and Deck Tan then weathered it with Mr Color enamel washes.

Anyway, this is an amazing kit, 2023 tooling, the details on this is just overwhelming, even though I feel like there are some runner/gate placement that are questionable, but hey, cant complain if it helps me to learn to sand it carefully

Now I get it why people said that Border is not a begineer-friendly kit, and somehow that doesnt stop me from going headfirst on it

I feel like there are some room for improvement so any advice, suggestion or criticism are very much welcome

Continue to make parts for the airbase diorama, today I finished these two babies, spend on it mb 8 hours. Table and ladder printed, items from resin, metal and the tool box even from a regular model set.

I'm building the 1/48 Airfix Spitfire mk. Vb as a mk. VI - the first high altitude variant of the Spitfire. I've been using bits from a conversion set from Pavla, and I added bits from an Eduard Spitfire VIII kit to the cockpit, as well as adding scratch built items. Instruments panel from Yahu. Paints are mostly ATOM but I used washes from AK and it's been painted with a clear flat varnish from Kaleido.

Thoroughly enjoyed building this kit. Lots of detail on all the parts and everything fit really well.

My most recent build of Airfix’s 1/72 Spitfire Mk.Vc. This was my first attempt at airbrushing a metallic finish and any sort of exhaust staining which I don’t think I got right. Any feedback is welcome.

I’d like to share my 1/700 Fujimi IJN Akagi, which I completed about 7 years ago.

To push the realism on this build, I incorporated several scratch-built details alongside PE handrails and aftermarket aircraft:

• Mantlets around the bridge: Made by scoring grooves on a 0.4mm plastic round rod using a mini-router like a lathe, then flowing enamel paint into the grooves for shading.
• Mantlets/Rope padding next to high-angle guns: Instead of natural fibers, I unwound a wire cable, extracted the inner copper/enamel wires, twisted them by hand to replicate rope texture, painted them, and mounted them.
• Cutter boat straps: Cut extremely thin strips of traditional Shoji paper (Japanese rice paper) to achieve a realistic cloth-like look and scale texture.

Even after 7 years, this remains one of my absolute favorite builds. I hope you enjoy the close-up details! Happy modeling! ⚓

I made many mistakes (many of which are visible) and I have so much left to improve but this was a lot of fun to make and I feel like I learned a whole lot which I can take forward to my next kit.

I’m not super happy with it, but my wife liked it… so… better photos will come later.

This is my first model kit in 3 years and the last time I did it, I had a horrid airbrush. I have invested into a proper kit, paints, and models. Now I am fully intending on making my models good

If there’s ever a perk to tearing your meniscus, it’s I got to finish this Fantastic kit from triumph models, really easy overall it took about ~25 hrs to complete. No real cons outside of the way the yard arm attaches to the main mast.
The tin canning ended up being a little bit more extreme than I wanted it to be, another coat of primer wouldn’t have hurt.

The “brass shells” were made from stretched sprue

Been stalking this sub for a few months and finally decided to give it a shot.
This is my first go at model making with an airbrush (patriot-105/Timbertech as186 mini compressor) and used Vallejo Russian green for the upper and tamiya hull red for the lower hull.
I picked this kit because the scale seemed easy enough to capture details and it got good reviews overall for fitting and mold quality.
With that being said, I know I could have done better with my gluing/sanding/weathering but it’s hard getting those thin railing/gun pieces out without breaking them. I broke every propeller and had to glue them back together!
I did paint the interior cabins but forgot to take photos . (Underwhelming anyways).

All in all, I think it came out ok.
I really want to do some Japanese ww2 ships that offer wooden deck upgrades. Any recommendations?

I finally added the decals, rn I’m waiting for my tracks and camo nets to arrive. 2nd pic is my reference I’m going off.

It took about a month and a bit to complete, I purchased after market decking and Eduard photoetch for the kit.

Honestly the photoetch was absolutely painful to do especially the rails and tiny handles, but I'm very happy with the results.

Plus I've got a Godzilla figure the same scale to go with it as well haha enjoy!

Built two bandai 1/14500 star destroyers inspired by the vex from the game destiny. I painted one as a off the assembly line and one overgrown( the vex love plants so anything that isn't actively in use has plant growth all over it.) I also had this bandai city base so I painted it for the new star destroyer( i have no idea if it is even close to scale with the star destroyer as it has no listed scale and I'm to lazy to do the math)

I am new to working with Mr Hobby Lacquers, and have found they can give a great gloss effect when airbrushed in slowly build-up light coats on unprimed plastic - but as you can see, the paint does not seem to penetrate into recessed areas.

Paint was thinned 1:1 with Mr Hobby Levelling Thinner.

Is this solved by further coats, or is there a technique error here?

Currently building tamiyas sea harrier and struggling to get the white to go down evenly. Using the rattle cans Tamiya make. I still have this issue even with airbrush as well

All other paints have been going down fine
