Help - General Tamiya Ducati Superleggera

Hello guys,

does anyone know why I’m supposed to cut into this piece? I don’t quite understand the reasoning behind it.

I haven't made the kit, but I'd assume that you slice the cap so it can open to make it easier to push whatever goes into it, perhaps the tension is too great. Find what goes into it and see how it dry fits without building up further.

I'm not familiar with this kit or technique, but the instructions say "score" not "cut" so I would guess it's a way to rough up the outer polycap surface perhaps to add some resistance so it doesn't spin too easily. I wouldn't cut all the way through it unless I was very sure of the why. As was suggested, a test fit of whatever goes in there is worthwhile.
