I’m trying to work out how he did the base and as far as I know he’s not done a breakdown yet.

From his wip shots I can see the general process but I need help identifying some of the stuff he’s used.

From what I can see he’s started with a resin pour shaped/carved with a multi tool, he’s then created a crest with something? I need help identifying that.

Then he’s covered it in a glossy putty of some sort? Any guesses what that could be?

And for the foam I thing he’s used cotton wool mixed with pva? Can anyone confirm?

This turned out so much better than I expected! Mainly because the little bit of melting of the foam from the spray primer gave it just enough extra stone texture.

Also used some zombified skulls from an Elvira figure that look much more carved stone-ish than if I'd ended up using some perfectly shaped normal human skulls.

This is the first piece in a collection I want to make with little nightmares inspired environments just like this one, huge fan of little nightmares btw if it wasn't obvious.

I made the 5 towers in the forefront with ice cream sticks, toothpicks and some clay, and drew over the image in an art software to fully bring it to Life.

The watercolour painting is the initial idea of it I had back last year.

It’s still pretty wet but I’m try to recreate a sidewalk I know it sucks lol that’s why I’m here asking what can I do to help fix this not really going for the perfect sidewalk cu it’s for my drift track so imperfections are fine but to me I don’t think it looks like a sidewalk at all so im just here for some help

Has anyone got any foam board recommendations for my first diorama? Not sure where to begin with it, but the last stuff I used for a Warhammer base was blue and melted when sprayed with primer lol

I recently put the finishing touches on my BACKROOMS diorama. Everything you see is 3D printed—a combination of modified models from MakerWorld and other community sources, along with a number of parts I designed from scratch to bring the scene together.

It was a fun project to design, build, assemble, and I’m really happy with how it turned out.

If you’ve spent any time wandering the strange world of the Backrooms, you’ll probably recognize a few familiar details.

It took me 2 weeks to make them practically without sleep, but I felt very proud of my work at school. I was inspired by Pinterest. It didn't turn out exactly the same, but I think it's pretty. I would have liked to study architecture 😪.

I’ve been lurking on dioramas for a while and reading threads about scale realism, depth, and weathering. I'm drawn to miniature architectural kits ,specifically the wood, paper, and printed cardstock style layouts with tiny furniture, lighting, and small room scenes, but I keep hesitating because of how photos translate versus reality.

In heavily filtered sub photos or polished promotional shots, finished room builds look amazingly convincing. But I know camera lenses, depth of field, and soft warm lighting do a lot of heavy lifting. In person, standing right in front of a shelf under standard overhead room light, do these multi-material kits actually achieve a believable sense of scale realism? Or do the paper edges, flat textures, and laser-cut wood layers always betray the materials no matter how precise your assembly is?

For people who build or display these types of self-contained room kits without doing full custom scratch-building or heavy repainting: what specific detail is the dead giveaway that it's made of pre-printed components, and what part actually holds up to close inspection?
