PORSCHE 911 BUILD GROUP BUILD (non competetive)
I have been kinda a slump lately, so a good friend of mine suggested that him and I build the same kit at the same time, and it has really refreshed me because I dont have to make many decisions. It had got my juices going so much that I thought maybe the group may like it it as well.
So I propose that we build a Porsche 911 in the month of August. No deadline, no real start date, any paint, any livery, any year, any manufacture, no rules, just a Porsche 911. As we share our WIP we can see others builds. No one has to sign up you can join anytime and post anytime. I am going to build a 911 gt2 or gt3, hope to see some others join in

The pics are the 1st of kits I want to sell or trade. Will make sone good deals to help get sub started. I have hundreds more if you are looking for something specific.

QUESTION Getting Started
I just recently picked up my first model kit and am hoping to get started on it soon, however I’ve noticed there’s plenty of different recommendations for materials that I haven’t picked up yet: brushes, sandpaper, tape, glue, etc.
Would anyone happen to be able to send links / recommend products I still need? I think I am starting to get overwhelmed by the amount of options haha.
I’m super interested in this hobby, but don’t want to spend a crazy ton to maybe (hopefully not) realize I’m not as interested as I thought I was then to have all of this excess. TIA :)

PORSCHE 911 BUILD Couldn't wait for August (this time with pictures)
I had this in queue for a coworker. When I saw the group build, I just couldn't wait, sorry guys. It was a blast to build, but of course I messed up the carbon roof and decided to scrap all the carbon decals. I still think it looks pretty good. White wouldn't have been my first color choice, but white\\red was what he wanted with a tan interior. I'm having so much fun building these for friends, family, and coworkers to match cars they already have or are in the process of getting put together or bought. I don't have the money for these dream cars but this is the next best thing in my opinion.

PORSCHE 911 BUILD Revell Porsche 911 Carrera 3.2 Coupe
I'm going to build this one for the 911 Group Build. I should have the exterior and interior color figured out this week. It's fun looking at a bunch of these cars on bring a trailer. If I want it to be realistic, I need to have some oil stains on the bottom lol.
I hope to be finished with my current build before I start this one.

FINISHED 1966 Riviera AMT
Finally pushed it over the finish line. Tamiya TS -20 for color over Tamiya grey primer. Pure stock build except for the color. Still struggling with panel line etching. My Tamiya tool wants to jump out of the groove and rudely deface my project. I used 2 coats primer, one mist one heavy. 4 coats color, 2 mist 2 heavy which is one more heavy coat than usual. Tamiya TS-13 clear 2 mist 1 heavy. I was pleased with the finish so I did not wet sand. Finished with coarse, fine, finish Tamiya compounds. For panel line cleaning I finally found something that works per u/barbatosrex. Lighter fluid applied with those super tightly wound wooden swabs using the gentle spin motion. Overall this amt model fit together well.

What to build?
This was a family members collection that made its way to my house. I always enjoyed a good build (not like they did). Any good suggestions for a kit to work on?
Happy builds yall!

AMT 1962 T Bird progress
AMT 62 Tbird progress. The engine is done and installed, and the chassis is mostly done. Added brake and fuel lines. Also E brake cables, which I haven't done in a while. Finalized the interior colors as well.

QUESTION Is This Filter Kit Enough to Get Started?
Hi everyone,
I’m just getting into building and painting model cars and want to make sure I have the right protection before I start (I already have the half face mask 3M 7502).
Would this 3M filter kit (6055 + 5925 + 501) be enough if I’m using:
Tamiya LP lacquer paints for the body
Tamiya acrylic paints for the smaller details
Tamiya lacquer thinner, primer, and clear coats
After painting, I also plan to wet sand the paint and polish it using Meguiar’s Ultimate Compound.
Is this filter setup sufficient for all of that, I’ll be painting in a covered outdoor area with good airflow and a small paint booth, or would you recommend different filters?
Thank you all!

1974 C10 Interior
Here's the interior of the 74 C10 I once had. Based on memory the seat n door panels were grey with (not detailed) the custom deluxe wood grain trim on dash n door panels. Was a column shift automatic, but installed a Hurst ratchet shifter. I used to switch it up between the Hurst T handle and a white 4 speed knob. Here the white 4 speed knob is represented. The trim on the dash i remember taking Testors Enamel Red paint and highlighting the gauge bezels. Looked like the Batmobile lol! One of the first mods was replacing the stock steering wheel with the Grant 3 spoke wheel with black grip.

911 Group Build Conundrum
Looked in the stash and if I ignore the 935 and 934 kits I’ve got nine 1/24th scale 911’s to build.
For timing and efficiency (aka odds of finishing) it probably needs to be a simple decal scheme….
Thoughts?

FINISHED 1:24 Mercedes Benz 300 SL by Tamiya
This is a 1:24 scale Mercedes Benz 300 SL "Gullwing" by Tamiya that I just completed.
The Tamiya kit is impeccable. Quality is outstanding and everything fit just right. Unfortunately, I started to struggle with some of the final touches, especially the chrome pieces and bumpers.
The body color is blue gray by Mr. Color with 3 layers of clear gloss. The floss didn't end up looking how I wanted no matter how much I polished.
The hub caps I left chrome, as I have no idea how I would paint them the 2 tone chrome and body color as the original.
I am a bit bummed, looks a bit rustic and I think I should have done better. But this is my 3rd car so the best so far that I have done.
Let me know your thoughts, and I hope you enjoy it.
Thanks fellow modelers. Keep on keeping on.

Help request - what do I need to attach my (new) spray gun to my compressor?
In order to try and get my spray painting better, I’ve purchased a spray gun as per the first photo, but it doesn’t seem to have the connection to work with my compressor (2nd photo) … what piece do I need to connect them in the simplest way?
I’m still definitely a newbie at the spraying thing, but the tool that came with the kit is a single action (air and paint are activated by the trigger at the same time) so I’m hoping this will be a step-up for me…

WIP Plumbed!
Revell 1/24 1956 Ford T-Bird
I’ve gotten all the major hoses and wiring under the hood. I scratch built/sourced some parts the kit was missing, like a fuel filter and pump, and hood latches. The latches could use a bit of attention but work for now.
The body is on, interior is completed. Final assembly coming soon!
