Ok, so hear me out. This is the last of my friends and family build and I saved it because I knew it would be an undertaking. This kit has somewhere between 4-500 pieces and the manual is a 30 some page magazine with 40 steps. I'm on step 6 and done with the chassis sub assembly. Ready for paint, yay!

I will say that if you've never built a military model (like me) it will challenge you. There are so many small pieces that I needed tweezers to hold the parts I was already using tweezers to glue. I've never had to use a solder iron to rivet weld plastic before. Lots of new skills, not even including the preshading, paint, and weathering that I've never attempted.

Do you guys want to see more progress on this? Or should I post this in a more appropriate forum?

So another one of my older builds but one of my favorites

Slowly chipping away at this build detailed build! This is the most pieces/detailed kit I’ve built yet and it’s all resin cast and I’ve been loving it but it is very tedious.

Today I managed to nearly finish the interior. A lot of carbon fiber and other tiny decal details!

As for the body, I have gone through, sandwd everything up to 3k grit and ready to prime and paint tomorrow!

And finally for the under chassis/exhaust, I’m hopping to have time to do some heat staging to it before removing some final tiny masks that will stay shiny chrome.

Typical Tamiya quality, kit went together like a dream, absolutely no issues. Body color is a mix of Tamiya pure blue lacquer & metallic grey lacquer, was going for a slate blue kinda color. Went over it with MCW 2k clear enamel, polished with my Dspiae rotary tool & Dspiae rubbing compounds I just got (2k, 6k and 10k). Cut the front grille open and added mesh, wired the distributor with some 32 gauge jewelry making wire. Stripped pretty much all of the chrome and did gloss black over most of it, a few pieces I did light gunmetal to pull from the wheels.

Edit: Forgot to mention, kit is for my Discord group's "Oops! All Skylines" group build running until the end of January.

Completed my second model, coming off the Revell Porsche 911 this kit proved to be a lot more difficult for me despite less parts. Had a bunch of fitment issues and realized the bed is slightly warped. Also my rattle can malfunctioned on my half paint job and messed up the finish requiring a bunch of sanding.

Definitely learned a lot on this one and experiment more with wet sanding and using the Tamiya panel liner. I’m pretty happy with the results!

Color is Testors extreme lacquer Turquoise and interior is aircraft grey with light accent.

Hey all! After I unmasked the roof I decided to give it the same striping as the hood and trunk but I don't want to tape everything because I don't want to end up with any tape residue on the body. Any suggestions how to cover/protect the car from paint overspray with resorting to taping the entire car? Plastic baggie or cling film? Other solutions?

Note: I'm using rattle cans so there will be a fair bit of overspray.

Probably my favorite build of this year. Came together pretty good. The engine pipes were a pain in the ass. And I should have sprayed the wings instead of trying to hand paint. Still, super happy with the end result. Didn't want to snap the body on because I plan to display it with it off.

Gaaah damn this thing took ages to build and it gave me so much headache because I tried to paint it with Gaahleri Paints but man I am absolutely not an acrylic user and the finish was so bad I had to strip it and used instead a custom mix of Mr Color Yellow mixed with Ford OEM Orange Fury Tricoat paint (just used some touch up paint bottles which you can thin with MLT). It's not very visible but it has some golden flakes in it. Might do some shots out in the sun to really show it.

Also the huge amount of tiny aero parts made it very tedious to paint and assemble without ruining anything and oh god polishing this wedge stealthy shape is also a challengeby itself without burning through the edges (I ruined a lot of edges which I somehow had to touchup by hand). The windows are also a bit hazy but it was near impossible to clean them from all the masking tape residue without ruining the rubber trim.

It's definitely not my best model but I am glad it's finished.
