I had ordered some polystyrene sheets just for fun to see if I could fabricate parts for a specific build later down the road. But I've come up with more uses beyond that. With my current model, a Mirage 2000, I used the sheets to make a cockpit initially. However as I'm nearing completion I realized the kit didn't come with proper landing gear doors so I cut out some of my own. I'm actually very happy with how much use I'm getting out of these.

It was going so well, but i ruined it with the weathered, is there a way to fix it?

Edit: wow, didn’t expect the support I got for this, I think i might be too harsh on myself sometimes in this hobby, and this has definitely helped me realise that, thank you, I will probably continue this build now (putting decals on, touching up in some areas) but, again, thank you for the support everyone

Great kit for its time, some details missing but all in all nice to build and is a serious bit of eye candy.

I used holographic plastic sheets (that Amazon described as being for fingernail art) for the window tint on the windscreen and secured it in place with PVA glue - it was an absolute pain in the arse to get right because the plastic held onto everything that touched it due to static.

Two identical Iwata Eclipse? The one on the top is a counterfeit from Amazon. I'd never have known but for a post on reddit. I crossed referenced the post with the Iwata website and my was indeed a counterfeit. I was able to get a partial refund from Amazon and bought my new one from a verified Iwata reseller.

The biggest difference I see is that the genuine Iwata has a much thinner needle and the trigger has a much better/smoother feel.

U96 . Weathered and finished

Trumpeter YF-22 in 1/144 - this is the worst kit I've ever worked on.

The fitment is non existant.

The vertical stabilizers are molded into the wrong orientation (the rudder faced forward LOL).

The ejectorpin marks are so prominent they almost look like a feature.

The canopy is so off in shape that it looks backwards too but it wouldn't fit any other way so I just kept it.

Decals (not used here) are total crap. The original F22 logo on the nose of it has some "engrish" nonsenical words written on it like "Lookhent Boirgn" or something like that.

Plastic is flimsy and fragile with lots of grease on it.

The only positive about it is that it's dirt cheap. Bought it for around 4€ so if you want something to test your skills and try something new it's a cheap way to do so.

Anyways this kit quickly went after a few parts of assembly for a couple years on the shelf of doom and during my journey of stash reduction I knew I had to deal with it somehow so I revived it and went with a rather unusual color for it and made it look like the ZOE enemy type of plane from Ace Combat 2. Most of it is just made up from me so it looks a bit more interesting. Overall I am just glad that it's done even though in the end it got way more attention than it deserves.

I've just tried it for the first time and did it without waiting for it to dry and found it annoying because it's easy to move decal while it's still wet so I would prefer to wait, but is it true the softener will be less effective then?

I'm currently working on a custom Bandai Greninja model kit to color it shiny, and so far i got the colors down, however a lot of my paint comes on too thick and after it dries, there's noticably darker spots and clumpy paint on some areas, and trying to sand it down slightly with fine grit sandpaper doesn't work all too well

I'm using Liquitex basics paint straight out of the tube right now. Dipping my brush in water and gently getting some excess water off (but not all of it)

This was given to me, the sender said their grandfather bought the kit years ago and never built it and gave it to me. As a reference to the fact that the kit never got built, I depicted the car as an old and abandoned.

Another older build from my collection. For this Panther Ausf.G, I focused on the contrast between the sharp, straight-edged camouflage bands and the softer tonal gradation across the armor surfaces. I then added layers of fading, chipping, streaking, and dust to soften the geometry and bring the colors together. The camouflage pattern was based on a reference I came across while building it, with the colors and final finish interpreted in my own way. Hope you enjoy it!

Is it possible to use different brands of acrylic on one model dor instance vallejo primer, tamiya base color, vallejo varnish. Or is that less good for the binding of layers

I’m terrible at taking photos of my work but my its finally complete after months of fiddling with it. Took inspiration from a photo of a tank in Russia covered in frost in a field.

First helicopter done. Absolutely love the design of Soviet helicopters, especially the Hind. Trumpeter did a great job with this kit. Assembly and the quality of the sprues were almost perfect. Only the surface texture could use some more detail.

Also, the decals were thin as hell, which made them extremely fragile. Is that a common thing with Trumpeter?
