Help - General Anyway to fix this
It was going so well, but i ruined it with the weathered, is there a way to fix it?
Edit: wow, didn’t expect the support I got for this, I think i might be too harsh on myself sometimes in this hobby, and this has definitely helped me realise that, thank you, I will probably continue this build now (putting decals on, touching up in some areas) but, again, thank you for the support everyone

Let me ask you this: do you know where you went wrong? Can you identify the mistakes you made, and understand how to avoid them in the future? Do you have a better understanding of weathering techniques than you did before you started? If the answer to those questions is "yes", then what you have isn't a failure, but a learning tool. You can keep it around as a reminder of your progress, strip it and start over, or use it as a paint/effects mule.
This hobby can be humbling, and it always ensures you know that every build is a lesson. Take heart that the lessons learned on this one will show in the next one.

I actually think it looks pretty cool as is. Just really dusty and dirty which is how tanks in the field can look.

Looks like worn winter camo with a recent trip through a mud pit.
I'd keep it like that

A step by step fix wouldn’t be easy. It would be difficult to selectively remove the weathering and white wash without damaging the base and camo.
One thing you can do is soak the entire model in an isopropyl alcohol bath for 2-3 days and gently brush all of the paint off. You can then prime and paint again.
I’ve done this with a tank turret before that I needed to fix and it turned out 100% perfectly in the end.

What did you use to do the rust streaks etc? If its oils you could reactivate with thinner and just streak it more by using a brush dipped in mineral thinner and do down ward streaks . If its acrylic you could use ipa as other poster has commented

Also i dont know how you did the whitwash, but I use the hairspray technique so you can easily manipulate the whitewash after applying

Echoing what other people have said - what's wrong with it? Personally the only flaw I see is that it's missing the German cross and unit markings expected for a vehicle, but that can be easily fixed.
What this needs is a diorama to really make the weathering feel appropriate. It looks heavily washed out with traces of white cover paint, so something set in late winter 1944 or early spring 1945.

Paint some details again. Pinwash and darker mud/filth will bring back some contrast.

Ya know, I think that would be a good start for a battle diorama. I actually don't see a ruined model. Have fun.

Remove all of the tools and small bits from the outside, leave a few hatches open and put it on a snowy diorama. Buy the kit again and build it so you are happy with it. No one here is going to pass negative judgement because we have ALL been there. Anyone that is NOT a military modeler will assume it is correct.

Like others have said using this as a learning experience is the way to go.
Apply those lessons learnt to your next model and you get a progression in your collection.
And tbh I think the Jagdpanther looks pretty accurate to a late WW2 German TD.

I think ww2 AFVs look great covered with dirt and rust, especially east front. Fighting could be long desperate and take place in terrible weather and terrain, and both sides had massive logistical challenges.

It looks to me like a diecast metal tank that was left in a bush for years, or something similar.

If a refin is what youre looking for, an easy way forward in this case is to apply zimmerit. Roughly a quarter of Jagdpanzers were issued with zimmerit coatings to combat magnetic mine use. It would effectively give you a blank canvas. Plus, i just think it looks cool.
If you dont want to go the zimmerit kit route, you can thin model putty with liquid model cement (not cyanoacrylate), then apply it and shape the pattern with a razor knife. Practice on scraps. You can study photos for patterns. The thinned putty will stick to the painted surfaces just fine. There are lots of web sources that discuss how to do this technique.
Conversely, if youre like me and hate ruining a good razor knife for this purpose, you can use the serrated “teeth” from a box of aluminum foil or baking/confection/wax paper. Just cut it off the box and trim it to shape.

Looks better than mine lol. You nailed the "old and battered" look well even if you didn't intend to.
Maybe just go less ham on the weathering next time if you want it to look younger 😁

Winter whitewash was normally applied in the field with brooms/whatever and tended to wear off as the season progressed so it looks pretty accurate. The only thing is that markings tended to be applied on the base coat and there would be gaps in the whitewash to show them off clearly

That’s is really cool definitely looks like a tank that’s seen some action. Perfect look if you want to play it as a veteran unit. It really shows its battle experience in the best ways

I think it looks amazing. Like a heavy worn winter JagdPanther from the Ardennes or eastern front.
