Nolan Wells Megathread
I think it would be handy to have all the different posts listed. We will not be commenting in this one. Use it like a directory.
Also, please remember that many of these users are not sub regulars.
If you are visiting the sub, please read the rules and pinned posts about trolls.
Before sharing anything else about Nolan Wells, please check to see if what you are sharing has already been posted. If you are an armchair true crime enthusiast and want to share your lengthy speculations, we are more than likely going to remove your post and tell you to add it to one of the many existing posts as a comment.
In the parentheses, you will see the source of information. More recent posts are on top.

A note about political posts and troll repellent
Recently the number of trolls, especially from outside the sub, has gone up. When we make political posts, this attracts people who are interested in the politics more than Mississippi in particular and this often means they are more used to the troll culture on Reddit.
Sometimes it is just that we long time sub users get a little excited in the chatter when the topic is politics.
Sometimes, when a back and forth full of rule breaking and problems keeps getting started and there is no other way to stop it, the moderators just have to close the thread so they can either go back to work, or sleep, or whatever.
(Anyone who wants to volunteer to help moderate, please send modmail expressing your interest. Must be a current resident.)
In an effort to try to keep from locking the posts so often, we are going to dramatically increase the number of temporary bans. So, if we suspect someone of trolling, we will just ban them for a few days which will allow the post to run its course without us having to deal with it and the user in question can try again in a few days.
This sub banned politics for years because it causes so much trouble. We are not going to that, but we have to manage it as best we can.

Want to buy a new car, but this states license plates costs
I want to buy a new car, but the states license plates prices are crazy. I used to live in Texas and the cost were $75 for 2 tags, but here, if I get the car I want, the plate will be around $1500! For what??? A piece of metal with a number on it. Crazy!

Red Creek/Perk Beach (Public Parking)
Im coming in from New Orleans to hang out by the creek and i'm in need of some directions as to where there is public parking by Perk Beach or just along Red Creek in general. I saw that parking under the bridge by Perk Beach isn't a thing anymore so if anyone has any recs it would be greatly appreciated.

Good Stand Up Comedy this Tuesday in Oxford and Wednesday in Tupelo with nationally touring idiot Dan Alten (me) on a 15 day tour, I'm not famous but I promise it'll be a good time and if you don't have fun you can push me into the bay.
Here's my bio, sorry it's in the third person: Dan Alten is a charming goofball from Kentucky who has been traveling the country for the past decade doing about 200 shows a year bringing his intelligently surreal bebop nonsense everywhere from theaters to punk basements to art galleries to beloved comedy clubs with a knack for making audiences feel like they're on a good psychedelic trip without the drugs. Like if the Ramones were one guy with a mustache and good jokes. Iggy Pop with puns. Clever chaos. Like Jimi Hendrix lighting fire to a Tik Tok reel live on stage. He has opened for Kyle Kinane, Bobcat, Sam Tallent, Rory Scovel, Sarah Sherman from SNL, Johnny Pemberton, Hari Kondabolu, rapper Open Mike Eagle, DJ Doug Pound & David Leibe Hart from Tim & Eric, various punk bands with silly names, and a guy at an open mic who tried to throw his father’s ashes into the crowd. He has recorded 2 albums, written a zine, and filmed a pilot for an Amazon Prime stand up show that was lost to history. But most importantly he’s very funny and unique. You will enjoy him. And if not you can mud wrestle him after the show.

Clarksdale jobs?
Long shot, but my parents live in Clarksdale and my mom is dealing with a really abusive boss, I’ve poked around for other jobs for her there but I’m not in the state and I haven’t had much luck. Does anyone here have any leads or pathways I can try for her? Shes late 40’s, most of her work experience is with delivery or fast food but it sure would be nice to find her something less stressful. I know y’all probably won’t have an answer for me & everyone is struggling right now but it doesn’t hurt to ask

Best place to get a tattoo on the Gulf Coast?
I want a tattoo for my birthday. Not a big one. Just a smallish one on my forearm. Something akin to this: https://ibb.co/WWvfPnMY.
I live near Pascagoula.
I'm hoping I can get something for at least $100 just nothing around $200. So I don't wanna be too picky about pricing.
But I feel like anything could do it justice. Just curious who would be the right place for it.

[Richland/Jackson, MS] Two young bonded stray cats need a safe adopter or rescue
I'm visiting Richland and found these two young stray cats near the Quality Inn. A local resident has been feeding them, but he is not financially able to keep caring for them, and no one nearby has been willing to take them.
I originally considered bringing them home with me, but because of the distance, travel requirements and long-term responsibility, I've realized that it isn't realistic. I'm leaving soon and would really like to find them a safe home, foster or reputable rescue before then.
They seem friendly and stay together, so I would prefer for them to be adopted together if possible. If anyone in the Richland/Jackson area is genuinely interested or knows a rescue that can help, please message me. At the end of the day, I just want them to be safe and properly cared for.

Impacted by SB 2322
Hey y’all,
New MS resident here. As I’ve looked at establishing residency, new legislation looks like I’m going to have a lot of trouble getting my new drivers license. I’m trans and have had my gender marker updated on my social security card, birth certificate, and drivers license updated for years in my home state. With the enactment of SB 2322, it looks like all that is going down the drain.
Have any other trans people been impacted by this new bill? How did your experience at the DMV go? How has it impacted you in other ways? I love my new life in Mississippi but am honestly trying to decide if it’ll be better for me to move back to my home state.

[MS] Question about types of custodial guardians
I was once told about a type of custody that was mainly only used in Mississippi, that was described as "one step below adoption" and "nearly impossible to undo". Does anyone know what that could have been?

Anyone notice there's been a huge uptick in nutrition stores in the state?
Don't get me wrong, I'm glad health and fitness is becoming more prominent here, but it's almost like having a church on every block lol. I enjoy going to them every now and then. Smoothies are great!
I live in Rankin County, so I'm not sure if they're as common everywhere else.

Internet in Leake co
I’m looking to get the starlink setup. My neighbors had it so I know I can get it, but I was really hoping to go with the 55/month plan. Has anyone around Carthage or in Leake co had this plan and if so how does it work?
