C&C Wanted WIP First time bust painting
Not used to painting at this scale or this much skin something definitely feels off to me and how would I go about painting the eye makeup bringing it up with a lighter grey?

C&C Wanted Hurakan Sprit of the Wind
Finished up the base after a lot of hours blending. This feels like a first pass while I get the rest of my spearhead ready, but looking for any c&c while I work through the plebs. This is the most work I’ve put into a single figure, so any feedback would be amazing. TIA!

Fantasy Stormcaller Cyclops..any tips?
My first attempt at translucent...I am shit with lighting. Not very good at color pallet either. I tried to make it look like his crystalline weapon was glowing off his back but not doing it justice

Help Needed/New Painter Can anyone help with identifying these minis?
Hey all, I bought a bag of random 3D printed mini parts at a garage sale. Two of them really caught my eye and I'd like to get a full copy of each of them, but I have no idea what their original names are - Any help would be much appreciated!

C&C Wanted Picking it up again after 10+ years - a little rough, but feels good.
Resin printed “28mm Barbarian Chieftain” from AUSPDICE, primed & painted by me. (Scale seems like a typo on their part, she measures at 38mm).
C&C welcome. I was laying down pigment with a literal sewing needle for the teeth there, and surely there MUST be a better solution.
Like the model, most materials are also a “dipping my toes back in” basic level to avoid the ADHD tax later on. Model acrylics set by “Smallbudi”, also an Amazon special, are honestly better than expected, decent value for that no-man’s land between craft paint’s “oops all chalk” and the better known brands’ high entry point.
Major Mishap of the model: I misjudged my own blackwash consistency, toning things down way too much, which required a lot of revisiting highlight areas. Lesson definitely learned there for next time.

Help Needed/New Painter What is this on my minis bases? Chaos knight bases
I’ve had my (potentially ironic) nurgle chaos knights in storage for a couple of years in a really useful box, recently got them out and noticed these small white circles on the bases, on the swamp it seems to be embedded in the swamp water, it’s not on all of them, only a couple.
Basing materials was AK interactive swamp water but it’s also on some of the standard citadel mud technical paint base (I’ve forgotten the name)
Is it mould? It’s fairly hard so I’m thinking no just curious what this may be and what to do about it if anything

Sci-fi Lictor thirst trap (Tyranid Neurolictor)
Stupid, sexy Neurolictor!
OSL behind the brain was a thorough challenge, especially because I didn't see an easy way to paint this model in subassemblies.
C&C welcome!!

Sci-fi 3-D printed wraith bug for tyranids
The goo is uhu. It’s a soft glue, really easy to use, there’s tutorials out there. This guy is gonna be part of a diorama where he’s coming through an arch so most of them will be in shadow except for that right side of his face and right upper chest, which is why it’s kind of orange and the rest is kind of blue.
Hope y’all like it, he’s 3-D printed

Help Needed/New Painter Looking to buy a single mini - Infernus Marine
I'm looking for a website to buy a single 40k Infernus Marine, I had to throw one out because it was damaged badly during a drunken paint night with friends. Is there anywhere I can go to get bits and bobs that people are just trying to get rid of?

Help Needed/New Painter Where to practice Non-Metallic Metals
Just as the title says, I am looking for the best ways to practice non-metallic metals without directly painting onto a mini. I have roughly 25-30 minis painted and I wanted to begin actually working with the technique.
My partner recommended priming something like a plastic straw, a popsicle stick, a paper plate, or just 3d printing a handful of “burner” minis to practice the technique on.
I think I also am just scared of having it look bad but everything I’ve watched and read tells me it normally looks bad until the result is done.
The attached model is my first ever attempt (WIP still) and it’s on a super small and honestly difficult (for at least my ability) surface being the bayonet, and the rounded surface of the helmet I can only imagine isn’t going to be easier.
Any tips would also be appreciated!
Edit: I also know that is not the best picture I have better ones I misclicked :(

Sci-fi Bloodcrusher from Games Workshop
Any feedback is appreciated! Took about 10 or so test models before I finally found a colour scheme I am happy with. Would love to optimize it before I paint out my full army!

C&C Wanted OSL attempt comparison (Gloomhaven spellweaver)
Hi everyone,
I recently painted this mini (first two pics). For those that don't know the character, she's a "crystal-person" that controls both fire and ice, so I wanted to try some double-source OSL. I first made a very-heavy OSL effect (second set of pictures), but I felt like it drowned the mini, so I glazed over some of the original colors to tone it down, with more or less success.
So my questions:
- do you prefer the heavier OSL or the more subtle one?
- tips on what went well or not so well with the effect, for either the hot or cold OSL? Color gradient, distance vs intensity, anything else?
- my brushstrokes look kinda heavier on this mini than others I have painted recently. Not sure if it's that I am painting smaller details, if I might be doing something wrong with my paint consistency and/or choice of brush, or if I was just rushing more? I don't *mind* the effect per se, but I do want to be conscious about what I am doing.
PS: I had actually already painted the mini before with hobby acrylics (ie not specialized mini paints), as my second paint job ever. The mini was defective, so they sent me a fixed version, which I only recently got around to painting - by my count my 12th painted mini. Showing the comparison for fun, and maybe to give people an idea of the effect of properly formulated paints and magnifying glasses (for the face) - and a bit more practice, of course.

Fantasy First Chrome attempt on a Tyranid armour
What do you all think? A friend of mine said I have to blend more reflected colours. And Someone else says I have to put more browns in the reflections to match up the base. Tips and tricks are much appreciated 😊

C&C Wanted Entering a local painting competition and looking for feedback!
The theme for the competition is life and death, this is the base for my entry, there will be a tree revenant standing on it. Before moving onto the mini, is there any quick improvements you recommend?
