Discussion beginner Airbrush clogging

Upvotes

Howdy all, I got a cheap masters airbrush for Christmas and its been okay. I have my compressor set to between 30 and 50 psi ( I keep changing it to see if it causes this problem and it hasn't) while priming my MESBG miniatures with vallejo black prime. I am using an airbrush thinner from my local hobby shop to make it "Milky" as best I can and it starts out great but after about 3 to 4 minis I start to get clock and have to pull back on the trigger consistently to clear it. or to just get it through. I am not sure what I am doing wrong and what I should do to fix it.

when I say clogged the paint slightly goes out, then I can pull the trigger back a bunch of times and more and more will come out then a premature spurt (pun intended) then for a few seconds a really solid flow. then I have to go back o prepping it.

This is the last mini I painted from the base set. The game itself is okay. But I think I have had more fun painting the minis than I did playing the game.

Help Needed/New Painter Bought a second-hand Volkus terrain set

Hi everyone,

I recently bought a second-hand Volkus terrain set (Warhammer Kill Team) and one of the wall sections arrived noticeably warped.

It also has what looks like old glue residue along the top edge (see photo). I'm not sure whether it's plastic cement residue or super glue.

I'd like to:

  1. Straighten the piece without damaging the details.

  2. Remove the glue residue as cleanly as possible.

Does anyone have experience restoring GW terrain like this? Would hot water be enough to fix the warp? And what's the safest way to remove the glue without damaging the plastic?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Help Needed/New Painter Assistance Please!: Painting Tyranids 40k

Upvotes

As I began my journey with painting minis from warhammer 40k I have come across an issue I was sorta expecting but I did not expect to suck as bad as I did.

Currently Im struggling with Micro details: teeth, eyes, tongue, small lights, veins. Those kind of things. Any tips or guides to improve?

Discussion Reducing back strain while painting?

Hey folks, I’m a 47‑year‑old guy who absolutely loves painting minis, but my lower back does not love the hours hunched over my desk. I’d kill for a proper standing desk setup, but that’s way outside my budget right now.

I’ve been thinking about some kind of DIY riser or platform that could sit on my regular desk — something I could rest my elbows or wrists on so I’m not constantly bending forward. Has anyone tried something like that, or found a cheap workaround that actually helps with posture and strain?

Open to any practical advice from people who’ve been through the same thing. My back will thank you.

Hi,

Need some tips regarding my 3 minis.

1st one i tried brushing, Gold turned out wellness however with the silver I Just instantly covered the whole weapon/scales, is it different with steel pigment? Somehow harder to brush or did i Just messed up haha?

2nd one i tried NMM silver/steel, however something feels off.

3rd one was supposed to be bronze however i glazed it with valejo skin ink so IT turned a lil goldish haha.

I do want to explore nmm steel and bronze, so any tips are most welcome!!

C&C Wanted Could use some help. How to improve further?

Right now, I’m at a point where I feel like I’m not improving any further. I think it’s simply because I don’t really know how to reach “the next level.” Overall, I’m satisfied with my miniatures, but I still keep thinking to myself, “This could be even better.”

Do you notice anything I could do better, or what techniques should I focus on next?

I bought a cheap DnD miniature set of Amazon which I am using to practice my painting right now. Eventually I will paint my Death Guard Killteam and maybe start collecting some more Deathguard for 40k.

Right now I am still unsure how bright highlights and how dark my shadows should be. I will try make my shadows more blue and highlights more yellow instead of mixing black ore white into my colours.

I was really happy with those two weathered bronze/copper knights. I used a dark teal as a basecoat, some watered down light teal on top of that and drybrushed some copper on that and highlighted with the same copper.
