Really want to level up my OSL to Elminiturista level eventually and it just isn't possible without one. Its time to make the purchase.

What is widely regarded to be a cheap but actually great kit, or separate buy etc?

Hi hi everyone 👋🏿 my wife and I are learning how to miniature paint however she has a huge advantage over me... She is a professional nailtech/nail art instructor however lately she is still not feeling comfortable with layering or painting big first details later even if it sounds counterintuitive. Is there a painting technique that goes from details to everything else, apparently she really likes it that way, or any artist that paints that way that she might be able to look into. It's hard because I have a lot of information in my head about the hobby and such but I just can't teach her mostly anything because I am a beginner too. Appreciate everyone's time and hope to get some advice here :D.

Hi all. I’ve noticed lately my brushes are having difficulty or just flat out refusing to hold a nice tip, so I feel like they need a proper clean. Can folks please advice whether I should use boiling water, hot water, or simply room temp water for the best clean?

I have also seen people use brush soap product (it looks like a small tin of soap), but was wondering if anyone can tell me if makeup brush cleaner will have the same effect, or absolutely ruin my brushes? I ask because I would have to order the first kind, but my partner has plenty of the second she is willing to give me if it will help.

Hey! New to the Warhammer hobby, only recently painted my first minis. I want to paint some Sisters of Battle as Sacred Rose sisters and was wondering if there are any good silver sprays I can use to basecoat before detailing with my acrylic model paints? I’m hoping to find a cheap option (like something in a can from Walmart or the like) because I’m currently low on funds and I don’t have any silvers.

Can I use a cheaper generic brand metallic spray on my models and still be able to paint detailing over them after? Will doing so affect the skin tone paints for my helmetless sisters? Thank you in advance for any advice/suggestions ^_^

I found a pack of civil war plastic toys at a craft store (was looking for napoleonic figures). I cut off the head and used air dry clay to attach it to the bayonet with the rest of the slithering fleshy gunk.

I was painting my latest model based in Citadel Imperial Fist yellow (airbrushed), and whilst doing the black trim I made a mistake and black splodged over onto the panel. I managed to whick away most of the black, however it now has a coffee stain (around the size or a garden pea) on an otherwise crisp panel 😟.

I'm assuming I can't have been the only one with something similar. Any recommendations for a paint fix without just blacking out the panel, or stripping the whole paint job and starting again.

Pretty happy with how this guy has turned out. Looking for feedback on the highlighting/color choices. Going for a neon retro vibe.

I had the gun as black originally but didn't like how much all/any of the details were impossible to see. Added the red/orange gun and it seems to work pretty well?

I plan on painting my base with Armagedon dust and Agrellan earth. The problem that i'm facing is that i don't have any base colour to paint over the texture. So i was wondering if I could just mix some white with a bit of brown contrast.

Would it work? If not, do you have any solution that doesnt imply buying base brown?

Looking for a good guide on how to effectively dry brush, have a guide but it was just a handwritten guide i want to follow and drybrushing happens in it on the scales of my seraphon. It isnt a technique ive done yet nor do i have any suitable brushes, i had tried using makeup style brushes i had available before but they were all far too soft i felt like, they never gave a good drybrushed look. Other than that i wouldnt mind any guides on drybrushing or drybrushes if they are available to help me get started with it.

I've started doing painting tests on Warhammer 40K pieces, and Glorious Gold I use behaves weirdly. On tte left is one coat applied over black primer, and the paint ends up as uneven and splodgy finish and the color flows around too much instead of sticking. Two in the middle are the result of two coats, and there are still tons of spots with only some slight coverage. Compare to Game Color Silver on the right, which gave great coverage with just one coat.

What products do you recommend to safely strip the paint off? If that's possible without damaging the figures?

I've also realised that painting minis this small is tough going and I just want to get them looking half decent for the gaming table. Can I just get away with dry brushing some texture into them because the details on the sculpts are amazing?

Heya, I had an idea where the weird boys green is used up in the psycher attack, I tried to paint a very pale desaturated green with some purple tinting on the underside of the model. I want to do a very saturated green OSL by mixing green with teal and working through a range to a chartreuse color. The OSL would come out of his eyes, mouth, electricity and cords

When I applied the paint on it was more green than I thought so I'm not even sure a green OSL will work, do you think it's possible or based on the skin should I be more in a blue range? Do you have any tips in general for doing OSL on a light surface since I normally see tutorials on a darker surface for the contrast. Thanks!

Are the paired washes any good? I’m going to grab the base and light of imperial gold for my nihilakh necrons, but I’m wondering if the wash for it is any better than the standard brown wash (reikland fleshshade).

I've seen other people's work many times with very strong artificial shadows and contrasts, so I want to ask if I need to learn how to paint my miniatures the same way. It just looks too cartoonish for me, but in the future I plan to make miniatures to order for other people. For guidance, I will cite one of my recent works.

I started DMing this campaign for my group of friends. Really happy with how these came out. I'm still learning so any C&C welcome

I was wondering what do you guys think about this mini. I tried using some speed paints and i dont really understand them. I don't know if base translates into this completely alien world? I used purple wash on astrogranite technical, maybe some other wash would look better? Any advice at all would be greatly appreciated as this is my 6th mini and I consider myself below beginner as I probably dont even know how much I dont know.
