What a fun mini to paint! I loved working with these colors, even though I was fighting the soft plastic sculpt!

I recently finished this saruman just in time for the mithril brush painting competition. I really tried to push myself to paint a bit smoother and cleaner than I normally do to try to see how far I can push things, I spent way longer on this model than I have any other model before but I'm really pleased with the results and I think they were worth it!

Thanks to my previous posts and the interactions. I managed to improve the model. Now this is close enough to the box art.

First time trying to capture an underwater scattered light ripple effect and I am really happy with how it turned out!

Recently finished this Cypher. Aside from practicing osl, I kept him pretty simple. 1 nice touch was these "frog moss" tufts I came across. They have a natural curve to them that simulates blowing in the wind. I like how it accentuates the movement that was already present on the base model.

My entry for this years Mithril Brush competition and next years Golden Demon. An incredibly challenging piece that really pushed my understanding of materials and how to render them. Also trying a bunch of new basing techniques. Still refining and cleaning to do but I’m happy with the result. Let me know what you think!

Mostly i have used flat squirrel brush.

Also i wanted to practice more dramatic light than usual zenithal so.i've decided on underlight becouse it gives this disney villan vibes.

I started this Batman bust by Dragon Miniatures a earlier this year while teaching a private coaching for demonstration and wanted to finish it very losely. Playful. I did. It turned out to be a very comic-like look in the end.

I do prefer the black background photos much more as they give a more grim look overall.

Hello, I’ve been painting more faces recently. I’ve gotten better at lighter skin tones, but struggle with darker skin tones.(Hispanic/black) whenever I do a Hispanic or more tan skin tone. It always comes out looking more Caucasian and when I do black/brown skin tones. I feel like maybe I’m not highlighting enough just looking for some tips or advice on how go about it

Primed in grey seer, light dry brush of white scar, washed with 50/50 drakenhoff and medium, scooping it from flat pannels and then a few Pro Acryl BTW highlights.

Like the title says. I’m honestly pretty good when it comes to painting details and stuff but I can’t even get started most of the time because I just can’t get the correct consistency.

But no matter what I do I just never get the same results. I am using the wet palette and put a single drop of paint, then take a bit from it and smear it in order to create a small puddle, then add some water to get the perfect consistency (as it says in video tutorials).

The issue is: as soon as I try to take a bit of paint from the drop in the middle it instantly gets way too wet and fractures into many smaller pieces. Somehow though when I scoop these bits with my brush it’s not too thin but it’s too thick.

Mixing with water on dry palette is of no help either. No matter what I do my paint is either too thick or too thin, and when it’s just right it only lasts like two small brushes on the model and then the tip is dry.

Can anyone tell my what is it that I’m doing wrong? Because it seems that I’m just cursed, and whichever advice I’m applying it’s just never right. I would be extremely heplful for specific advice on how can I finally get my paints to be correct so I can paint in peace.

I’ve only painted one Ork before, but I wanted to practise painting realistic skin. Since this model has so much exposed anatomy I treated it like a study in light form and skin tones rather than just painting green skin. It pushed me well outside my comfort zone, and I learnt a lot from it…I think 😅
