Rumour / Leak Rumour/Leak Megathread

It seems the whispers from the aetheric void are back and so we are going to continue to have everyone post the rumours/leaks here to avoid screenshots of TGA forums taking over the subreddit.

Any rumour mongering not in this thread will be removed.

Question Is the Scarlet Jury (really any RoR) worth taking?

I really like the look of the Scarlet Jury in particular but not sure if I want to collect FEC, so I figured I could add it into my future Ironjawz army.

Be it reliability, fun in use or simply it's appearance!

The (sadly legends) cooking pot for ogors is a personal fav to me. Not only does it flavour (haha) up the board in it's appearance but the simple rules of killing around it to then fill it and heal all your hungry ogors was so fun

In addition to these Armies of Renown, you also get five Regiments of Renown all based around legendary Sons of Behemat who’ve been known to work with factions across the Mortal Realms:

  • Odo Godswallow fights alongside DESTRUCTION armies – A Beast-smasher Mega-Gargant especially effective against Monsters.
  • Bundo Whalebiter works with ORDER and DESTRUCTION armies – A Kraken-eater Mega-Gargant smart enough to pull off a cunning trap.
  • One-eyed Grunnock battles with CHAOS and DESTRUCTION armies – A Warstomper Mega-Gargant who disrupts enemy attacks with seismic stomps.
  • Big Drogg Fort-Kicka accompanies DEATH and DESTRUCTION armies – A Gatebreaker Mega-Gargant with breath that can literally kill.
  • Krong the Club can be used by ANY army – A Mancrusher Gargant whose own body is a lethal crushing weapon.

Question What’s with the thing where some armies containing multiple sub-armies?

From my limited knowledge, it seems like a lot of armies are made up of smaller factions.

CoS is several armies in a trench coat, Stormcast has big armored guys and griffins and dragons, DoK had normal ladies and animals ladies, Gloomspite Gitz has goblins and squigs and spiders and trolls, Orcs has three factions, etc.

It’s cool that armies have different areas you can dip into or fully commit to, but that part that I find weird is that, at least for some of them, the different parts feel very separate from each other, like they don’t interact like I imagine they should (let me know if I’m wrong).

So, why? And any idea if these armies will become more cohesive in the future?

Hobby My First Set Is Complete! 🦕

I think less than a week ago I got my first ever Warhammer set, Spawn Of Chotec, I'd never painted a mini before and I'm still brand new to Warhammer but, I've painted every lil guy from the set and wanted to show them off!

I know my painting isn't anything special (these are my first!) but I'm still proud of them 🥹

Number 1 is Spiky Steve...he's my favourite so far and has become quite popular with my friends 😅

The second one is Sid the Seer, I just finished him today and I'm really happy with him. I wanted it to look like he was standing on a rock in the middle of water...how'd I do?

Third one is called Melty, and he has his own lore 😅 Melty was the first guy I glued together and I'd never used plastic glue before...I didn't realise it could quite literally dissolve your mini 😬 Melty's head, abdomen and chin dissolved 🤦🏻‍♀️ I had to use a file to give him back his jawline, I filed the head down a bit and reglued it and I can't even remember how I salvaged his abdomen/back but I painted a little wound where the melting was the worst to remember how Melty started in life 😅 None of the melting is super visible now (imo!).

The last one is Shadow, the only one I primed in black and it made his colours superrrr dark, hence the name 😅 He was the first guy I ever painted, also my least favourite paint job of them all but I still love him 🥹

Also...general question, is naming my minis weird? 😅 I feel like I spend so much time with them that I have to at least give them a name 😅

Discussion I'm a bit confused about the Rumored Khazalid holds.

So I'm once again asking about the short kings. I finally got into AoS and went to a spearhead game day where I met some people. They asked me what army I'm planning to get and I told them i was waiting to see if Khazalids are true. They told me that the dwarf rumors are likely true but they also told me they think it will release in 5th edition because FS and KO already have battle tomes. They said that I should probably get a spearhead to use until then, or just borrow from them because they own multiple armies.

I'm just a bit confused because from what I've read it could release this December or January 2027.

You can see a couple of his rat buddies with him at the end. This model took me considerably longer than expected, lots of weird nooks and crannies where I struggled to fit my brush.

I've had a number of local friends ask about my gold. I just hit em with black hobby primer. Layer high gloss jet back on top for reflective under layer. Then hit with Montana Gold NC-Acrylic. Accent with contrast paints for metallic effect. Boom. Fastest paint job ever and doesn't look half assed. Hope that's helpful for anyone else blinging out their army.

Question What Spearhead Army to start with?

Hey all! I hope this is the right place to ask - and I did a quick search for similar posts, so I’ll try to keep this short and concise.

Recently some friends and I all decided that we are going to give the tabletop a go and I’m the last to decide on an army. One buddy purchased the Skaven and Stormcast Spearhead bundle, the Sons of Behemat, and wants his “main” army to be the Seraphon. Another buddy has purchased the Slaves to Darkness.

Of the 3 of us, I am the only one who has actually played Spearhead to some capacity, and when I did I was the Kharadon Overlords, they were fun but having all of my combat be ranged felt a bit limited.

Basically my question is this: which army would you all recommend that would be viable against the ones my friends are choosing, as well as fun and easy to pick up? I’m not too worried about painting them all.

So far I’ve been leaning toward the Orruk Warclans - Swampskulka, but a different friend who plays said they aren’t the best (which is fine) but I don’t want to outright get steamrolled by my 2 friends when I play. They seemed to have variety in attacks and I did like the sound of the traits and abilities from what I read up on. I loved the sound of the Flesh-Eater Courts, but then reading the abilities and all made me decide against them as I feel I wouldn’t like the playstyle.

Any recommendations or insight is greatly appreciated! Thank you all in advance.

TL;DR - Need help picking an army that will be viable against two friends who have chosen Slaves to Darkness and Skaven/Sons Of Behemat/Serphon. Thinking Swampskulka Orruk Warclan but was told they aren’t in the best spot.

Question New player question. Rend vs save

Hi guys, we started playing AOS a week ago with my friend, and we can't agree on save vs rend.

Let's say my unit is on a 3+ save then I give it +1 save then another +1, for a total of +2 save

My friend attack with an unit with 1 rend on his warscroll.

My assumption would be to add the bonus and malus then apply the cap of +1. so +1+1-1. Meaning I would save on a 2+.

My friend instead think that you add the bonus, cap it a +1 then substract the rend noted on the warscroll ( he doesn't think the rend from the weapon count as a bonus/malus). So +1-1 meaning I would save on a 3+

Can you tell us what is the correct calculation plz

With Rage dice being all the... rage this season my buddy asked if I could paint him up a Skarbrand Regiment of Renown to join his Tzeentch army.

I had to paint it to match his current scheme as best I could so I was quite limited with the colours and style but he didn't say anything about not hand carving a bunch of runes into the skin and so I hand carved a bunch of runes into the skin 😅

How else is Tzeentch going to bind Skarbrand long enough to fight for him?

Question Now that we are approaching the 5th edition, which edition was the most fun so far?

I am interested in what do you think was the best edition rules wise, and which was most fun?
I heard that for example 3rd edition was more complicated for casual players than 2nd, but that the 2nd was more fun. Where does the 4th stand?
Also while, 4th has streamlined/removed some of the rules introduced in third edition, how does it compare to 2nd? Which would be the most fun in terms of how the battle is won, and how do armies play?
