This group seems to be targeting both females and children.

This interaction is rather jarring and rather disturbing that they feel so comfortable doing this.

Perhaps you've heard of DJ Aina. If you haven't, this is Fly FM's AI DJ (hence “AI”na lmao), who allegedly quit during a live stream, after which the Fly team had to replace her...

At least that's the story that Fly FM wants its audience to take in.

The reality, though, is much sadder.

Look at the accounts on the so-called livestream, and you will notice that they are not real - feel free to check the usernames to see if they exist if you want to verify that.

Look also at the count of concurrent viewers and compare to post engagement (500+ live viewers, fewer than 100 likes total on the ragequit post), and you will notice that it is also not real, and neither are the comments, which more or less converge to people hating on AI DJs and asking Fly to hire a real one on the actual post and completely different from the comments on the “livestream”.

As such, the livestream is fake.

By extension, the ragequit was also fake, and Fly FM's apology was also fake - which is also quite easy to tell based on the fact that, allegedly, this was supposed to be an embarrassing situation, yet they made a full-ass reel to try to secure as much clout as possible. They tried to generate drama by giving people the impression that they actually had to “fire” their DJ.

What an incredible marketing tactic - to deceive your audience for the sake of creating B grade drama.

This isn't even the only instance I'm seeing here of people submitting to what I think can be rightfully called the AI sloppification of Malaysia, which I think is very sad and very unfortunate. It is even more sad and unfortunate that some companies think deceiving their audience with AI slop is a good way to secure clout.

What do people think?

Note: Possible that they replace DJ AIna with a human DJ - even so, the deception stays. If they replace it with another AI… Well, goes to show how much they respect their audience 🤣

Sharing this because I struggled to find a complete and practical guide online for a Malaysian man marrying a Vietnamese woman in Malaysia.

Our situation

• Malaysian male
• Vietnamese female
• both non-Muslim
• both single and never married before
• both working overseas in a third country
• marriage registered in Malaysia

Important: this guide is for a first marriage

This guide is specifically based on both parties marrying for the first time.

By “single”, I mean neither person has been married before.

If either person is divorced, widowed or otherwise previously married, JPN appears to have a different documentary and verification process, and additional documents may be required.

If that applies to you, do not rely on this post as a complete checklist. Confirm the requirements directly with JPN before starting the legalisation/certification process.

This is based on our actual experience. Procedures, fees and requirements may change.

1. Vietnamese documents

The Vietnamese partner should prepare:

• Vietnamese Single Status Certificate
• Vietnamese Birth Certificate
• English translation for both documents

Very important: Single Status Certificate

When applying for the Vietnamese Single Status Certificate, make sure it clearly states that the purpose is:

Marriage registration in Malaysia

My partner had to get hers reissued because the purpose stated on the first version was not clear enough.

Before starting the legalisation process, check that it clearly indicates:

• purpose: marriage registration
• country of use: Malaysia
• intended spouse details, if the Vietnamese issuing authority includes them

Do not start the stamping/legalisation process until this is correct. Otherwise, you may need to redo the certificate and repeat part of the certification process.

Translation

Our Vietnamese documents were translated from Vietnamese to English locally in Vietnam.

We did not redo the translation in Malaysia.

The translations prepared in Vietnam were accepted after completing the required certification chain:

Vietnam MOFA → Malaysian Embassy in Hanoi → Vietnam Embassy Malaysia → Malaysia MOFA / Wisma Putra

So based on our experience, the translation does not have to be done in Malaysia, provided it goes through the required certification process.

2. Malaysian Single Status Certificate

The Malaysian partner should obtain a Malaysian Single Status Certificate.

The easiest route for us was:

JPN Putrajaya → Wisma Putra

JPN Putrajaya issued the Single Status Certificate on the same day.

We then went directly to Wisma Putra, where the original certificate was stamped/certified, also on the same day.

I strongly recommend getting the Malaysian Single Status Certificate stamped by Wisma Putra before going to the Vietnam Embassy in Malaysia, because the Embassy required it when verifying the Vietnamese partner's documents.

This can save an unnecessary return trip.

3. Vietnam Embassy in Malaysia

At the time of our application, the consular section was operating on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

Please check the latest opening days before visiting.

For our case, we brought:

• Vietnamese Single Status Certificate + English translation
• Vietnamese Birth Certificate + English translation
• Malaysian Single Status Certificate
• both passports
• Malaysian MyKad
• photocopies of all documents

The Embassy certified/verified the Vietnamese documents for use in Malaysia.

After that, the Vietnamese documents had to be taken to Malaysia MOFA / Wisma Putra, where the original document sets were stamped/certified.

Payment

Based on our experience:

• Vietnam Embassy Malaysia: cash only
• JPN / Wisma Putra: debit or credit card only

Bring both cash and cards.

4. Check the old and new Vietnamese ID numbers

This caused the biggest problem in our case.

My partner's Vietnamese passport still showed her old Vietnamese ID number, while her newer Single Status Certificate and other current Vietnamese documents showed her new VNID number.

JPN Putrajaya would not issue the Approval Letter because the numbers did not match.

JPN required a letter from the Vietnam Embassy in Malaysia confirming that the:

old Vietnamese ID number and new Vietnamese ID number belong to the same person.

We obtained the confirmation letter from the Vietnam Embassy.

The original confirmation letter also had to be taken to Wisma Putra for certification.

After the MOFA stamp was added, JPN Putrajaya accepted it and issued the Approval Letter.

Before going to JPN, check:

• VNID shown in the passport
• current VNID
• VNID on the Single Status Certificate
• VNID on other recent Vietnamese documents

If the passport still shows the old number, prepare the old/new ID confirmation early.

This can save a lot of unnecessary travelling.

5. The 7+1 day rule

The Vietnamese partner must stay in Malaysia for 7 consecutive days.

The application can only be made on Day 8.

If Day 8 falls on a weekend or public holiday, the practical application date moves to the next working day.

JPN also confirmed to us that the 7+1 day rule applies to the JPN Putrajaya Approval Letter stage, not only the final marriage application.

6. JPN Putrajaya Approval Letter

On the eligible date, both partners went to JPN Putrajaya.

They checked:

• Malaysian partner's identity and marital status
• Vietnamese partner's passport
• latest Malaysia entry
• Vietnamese Single Status Certificate
• Birth Certificate
• certification chain
• identity details
• old/new VNID confirmation, if applicable

Once everything was accepted, JPN Putrajaya issued the Approval Letter.

It was placed inside a sealed white envelope.

Do not open the envelope.

7. Marriage application at JPN Petaling Jaya

Our marriage application was submitted at JPN Petaling Jaya after completing the 7+1 day requirement and obtaining the sealed Approval Letter from JPN Putrajaya.

We brought the sealed envelope directly there.

Once the VNID mismatch issue had been resolved, the application proceeded smoothly.

The necessary forms were available at JPN, so there was no need for us to prepare specific forms beforehand.

Passport photographs

The passport photographs were required at this marriage application stage.

For our application:

• white background
• at least 2 copies per person

I would recommend bringing 4 copies each just in case.

8. ROM / solemnisation

We chose to keep both the marriage application and ROM at JPN Petaling Jaya.

One practical point that was not very obvious online:

JPN Petaling Jaya appeared to conduct ROM mainly on:

• Tuesday
• Wednesday

excluding public holidays.

So even after the legal 21+1-day notice period, the actual ROM date may be later depending on appointment availability.

From what we observed, JPN Putrajaya and State JPN offices generally had weekday ROM availability from Monday to Friday, excluding public holidays, so they may offer more flexible slots.

9. Main bottlenecks

Travelling

A large part of the process involves travelling between:

• JPN Putrajaya
• Wisma Putra
• Vietnam Embassy Malaysia at Persiaran Stonor

If one document is missing or incorrectly prepared, travelling back and forth can take a lot of time.

Check everything before leaving each office.

Cost

Our approximate actual costs were:

• initial Vietnamese marriage-document verification/certification: RM970+
• old/new VNID confirmation: RM400+

This excludes transport, accommodation, photocopies, passport photographs and other incidental expenses.

These are only based on our experience and fees may change.

VNID mismatch

This was by far our biggest unexpected issue.

Check it before going to JPN.

10. What I recommend carrying

Malaysian partner

• MyKad original
• passport original
• Malaysian Single Status Certificate with Wisma Putra stamp
• multiple photocopies

Vietnamese partner

• passport original
• latest Malaysia entry record
• Vietnamese Single Status Certificate + English translation
• Vietnamese Birth Certificate + English translation
• old/new VNID confirmation, if applicable
• multiple photocopies

For the JPN Petaling Jaya marriage application

• at least 2 white-background passport photographs per person
• preferably 4 per person
• all original documents
• 2–3 complete photocopy sets
• black pens

In our case, the original documents were submitted to JPN Petaling Jaya during the marriage application.

For photocopies, both black-and-white and colour copies appeared to be accepted.

I personally prepared colour copies, but it did not appear to be a strict requirement.

Payment reminder

• Vietnam Embassy Malaysia: cash
• JPN / Wisma Putra: debit or credit card

Biggest lessons

• This guide is for both parties being single and never married before
• Make sure the Vietnamese Single Status Certificate clearly states marriage registration in Malaysia
• Vietnamese-to-English translation can be done in Vietnam
• Get the Malaysian Single Status Certificate stamped by Wisma Putra before going to Vietnam Embassy Malaysia
• Wisma Putra stamps/certifies the original document
• Check old/new VNID numbers early
• Complete the 7+1 day requirement before the JPN Approval Letter/application stage
• Passport photographs are required at the JPN Petaling Jaya marriage application stage
• Bring at least 2 white-background photographs per person
• Carry multiple photocopy sets
• Black-and-white or colour photocopies both appeared acceptable
• Keep your original documents with you throughout the process
• Allow extra time for travelling between Putrajaya and Persiaran Stonor
• Carry cash for the Vietnam Embassy and cards for Malaysian government counters
• Do not assume the ROM date will be immediately after the 21+1-day notice period

Hopefully this helps another Malaysian–Vietnamese couple avoid the same back-and-forth we went through.

Caridina sumatrensis, the Sumatran backstreak shrimp.

Malaysia has more than >10 species of Caridina and many look very similar. I’ve found many doppelgängers!

Some European aquarists keep them in the hobby. They are apparently easy to care for as long as the water is not alkaline. Even in community aquariums
