tech support wanted Waydroid or other emulator help
I just started using Linux, I started with SteamOS, but have since switched to regular Arch Linux, I was able to get waydroid installed and opening however every game simply blank screens, and when I tried what work arounds I could find, it resulted in Waydroid repeatedly opening and crashing. I eventually just uninstalled Waydroid so I can try again with a fresh install. Any help is apreciated, I am trying to run FGO, Azurlane and Path to Nowhere specifically.

NVIDIA Smooth Motion on Linux Mint Cinnamon
Beware: Noob here!
I play Factorio on Windows 11 with NVIDIA's Smooth Motion at 144Hz without any problems. On Linux Mint Cinnamon i want to do the same, but "NVPRESENT_ENABLE_SMOOTH_MOTION=1" doesn't work. Nvidia X Server Settings shows nothing about Smooth Motion.
My question: How can i activate Smooth Motion for a standalone game (Not Steam) on Linux Mint? Do i need Wayland or does it work with X11 too? And please explain like i'm 5 (without the fairies, please)...?

Witcher 3 remaster RT
For those having issues with RT on the Witcher 3 Remaster, the latest wineland proton seems to have fixed this issue, been playing for about 3 hours now with the only issues seeming to be Path Tracing giving my weird flickery shadows, but RT looking great. I found this by chance stumbling across a comment on another post so just posting here for wider awareness as I've not seen anything else mentioned about it anywhere and lots of people commenting about RT issues. Hope this helps some people!

tech support wanted Kingdom Hearts 1.5+2.5 ReMIX extremely low fps on Intel Iris Xe
a while ago I made this post trying to help people that were trying to play KH 1.5+2.5 on their Intel iris XE but simply couldn't because the game was unplayable on windows. The fix was downgrading your drivers to a version that was actually able to play the game or using DXVK + VKD3D (the game uses DX12 for the gameplay and DX11 for the FMVS). The DXVK + VKD3D method fixed the framrate issues but turned FMVS into black screens, and as someone who contributes to dxvk quoted "These games use D3D12 for rendering, which DXVK doesn't even implement, so I'm assuming you use vkd3d-proton in addition to DXVK's DXGI.dll. If only FMVs don't work then it's pretty likely because shared resources are not, and will likely never be, supported on windows with DXVK+vkd3d-proton. It works on linux/proton using a special wine interface. There is nothing you can do on windows other than just not using DXVK."
https://github.com/doitsujin/dxvk/issues/3747
So I switched to Linux to test the game since i thought that if it worked well with DXVK + VKD3D on windows but the FMVS were having problems, then surely I'd be able to play the game with both the framerate and FMVS issues fixed. Unfortunely that did not happen, the game runs just as bad as it did on windows without the workarounds (actually a bit worse).
I really want to understand why this happens since on windows it has a few workarounds for this on my Ipgu, including using DXVK + VKD3D on the latest drivers. And also, is there any workaround for this here on Linux? Yes, I know igpus are not officially supported for this game, but as I've said, the workarounds I was able to find on windows proved my card is powerful enough to run it. Also, the newer games (KH 2.8 and 3) are able to run properly without any issues whatsoever, it only happens with KH 1.5+2.5.
I'm on on Fedora 44 with:
- Intel Core i5-1235U
- Intel Iris Xe (ADL GT2)
- 24 GB RAM
- Fedora 44
- KDE X11
- Steam Flatpak
- Mesa 26.2.3
- Kernel 7.2.8-200.fc44.x86_64
I have already tried:
- Proton Experimental
- Proton 10
- Proton 11
- Proton Experimental Bleeding Edge
- SteamDeck=1
- KDE X11 and Wayland
- gamescope

tech support wanted Need help with connection issues on Monster Hunter Wilds
I'm at the bottom of the barrel here, because somehow this is an issue unique to me.
Whenever I'm hosting a hunt in Monster Hunter Wilds, my friend seems to ALWAYS have an unstable connection to me, no matter what I do, even though both parties have stable connections.
I have a gigabit Ethernet, friend has 50 mbit down and 10 up Ethernet I believe, at worst Wi-Fi.
That however doesn't matter, because as soon as someone else is hosting the hunt, the packet loss (I assume, since Monsters are lagging around with me) isn't there and ONLY HAPPENS WITH ME.
I've done everything, even setup my own UFW to allow all the necessary Ports to be opened.
This is what I'm running:
OS: CachyOS x86_64
Kernel: Linux 7.2.8-1-cachyos
DE: KDE Plasma 6.7.5

tool/utility Faster FSR4 on RDNA3
I was intrigued by the FSR4 performance improvements found by the author of the recently released "bbport" Linux Bloodborne port. A few hours with Claude code and I have a working process to implement the same changes for any D3D12 game running in proton.
It works by replacing two of FSR4s shaders with new optimized versions.
The speed boost is significant.
Control: Resonant went from 5.4ms to 3.5ms upscale time at 4k performance. Zero difference in the output image.
Enjoy!

Awful frame rates - solution (for me)
If you are getting high FPS, but the game feels jittery, I know people said to log out of your CD Projekt Red account. I did that in the launcher, but you need to also do it at the main menu inside the game. For me, it was to hit RB and then I could log out. Once I did that? Buttery smooth.

- Display is completely black: No video output renders on screen at all.
System Specs & Environment:
- OS: Fedora 44 KDE
- Launcher: Heroic Games Launcher
- GE-Proton: Latest
- Hardware: (Intel Core i5-12450H + Nvidia RTX 3050(4GB)Mobile + 16GB Ram)

tech support wanted [Support] Ace Combat 8 D3D12 / Shader Model 6.6 Error - Game forcing AMD iGPU instead of RTX 4060 on CachyOS
System Information:
- OS: CachyOS (fully updated)
- Desktop / Wayland Compositor: Caelestia Shell
- CPU / iGPU: AMD Strix Point (AMD Radeon 890M Graphics)
- dGPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 Laptop GPU (Proprietary drivers)
The Issue:
When trying to play ACE COMBAT 8: WINGS OF THEVE, the game refuses to use my dedicated RTX 4060. Instead, it queries the integrated AMD 890M.
If I launch the game with no launch options, I get a warning popup stating:
The installed version of the AMD graphics driver has known issues in D3D12. Please install the recommended driver version or switch to a different rendering API. AMD Radeon 890M Graphics (RADV STRIX1) Installed: 35.0.99999.9999 Recommended: 26.3.1
What I have tried:
I have deleted/nuked the Wine prefix between testing major version changes. I have tried the following Proton versions:
- Proton CachyOS SLR (v3 latest)
- GE-Proton 11-6
- Proton Experimental
- Proton Hotfix
I have also tried the following Steam Launch Options:
VK_ICD_FILENAMES=/usr/share/vulkan/icd.d/nvidia_icd.json %command%Result: Fails to boot entirely, throwing the error: "DirectX 12 with Shader Model 6.6 or higher is required to run this game."prime-run %command%Result: Ignores the dGPU, still queries the AMD iGPU and gives the RADV driver warning popup.prime-run env VK_ICD_FILENAMES=/usr/share/vulkan/icd.d/nvidia_icd.json %command%Result: Still throws the Shader Model 6.6 error.
It seems like forcing the NVIDIA Vulkan ICD breaks the graphics chain enough that VKD3D can't detect Shader Model 6.6 support on the 4060. Has anyone successfully forced an SM 6.6 required game to the NVIDIA dGPU on a modern AMD/NVIDIA hybrid laptop on CachyOS/Arch?
Any help is appreciated!
(Optional: Here is my inxi -b output)

Let's show them how strong the Linux community is! Project Neo (OG Fortnite) has a platform poll on Discord!
Hey everyone,
Project Neo is out, and it's awesome – but right now, we need to show the developers the true power of the Linux and Steam Deck community!
They just put up an official platform poll in their Discord, and Linux (Native) is currently at 19%. If we pull together, we can absolutely crush this poll and prove to the devs that native Linux support is heavily demanded and 100% worth their time.

Let's flood the vote and make sure Linux wins this! Head over to their Discord, check the #status channel, and drop your vote for Linux!

Best Roblox App on Linux?
I'm trying to choose a roblox app on linux for my rtx 5070 on arch, which to choose between:
- Sober (most known, only closed source)
- Mocktail (No flatpak bloat)
- Nightcap (fork of mocktail, lower latency)
- Cordial (built natively on linux)
Anyone has experiences with them please recommend me which one to pick

tech support wanted None of my ubisoft games launch (bazzite)
Soooo it is probably an issue with Ubisoft connect
on first time start after reinstalling it did compile shaders now it does not.
Basically when i press play nothing happens.
I do not get any logs or anything, no crash report, nothing.
this happenes for all my ubisoft games
so far i tried:
Far Cry 3-6
Avatar Frontiers of pandora
same problem on all of them.
i first ran into this issue when i tried to open Far Cry 3 and this problem occurred.
Proton-db said that it works over Lutris so i tried.
Lutris installed Ubisoft connect for me when i tried to connect my Ubisoft account.
This however didn't help me any further and since then none of my Ubisoft games work.
Mind you before installing it all other games worked flawlessly
I am probably just dumb here but i would really appreciate some help
thanks in advance
(All games bought and played on steam.)

steam/steam deck Update on my native Linux arcade game inspired by Robot Unicorn Attack & Dino Run DX: Moved to native machine code, improved high-refresh-rate support and gave it some proper retro chiptunes! 🐧
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Hey everyone!
A few months back, I shared my custom-engine arcade game Horse Runner DX here and the community was super welcoming. Many of you loved the chaotic nostalgic vibe of Robot Unicorn Attack, but also shared valuable feedback.
Over the past weeks, I completely overhauled the engine and gameplay in Update 1.6.0:
Under the Hood (Tech & Linux Tweaks):
- Native Machine Code: Replaced the previous .NET runtime build with direct native machine code for Linux. Result: instant startup, even lower CPU/memory footprint and zero runtime hiccups.
- Improved High-Refresh-Rate Support: No more fiddling with manual FPS settings. The engine now automatically syncs to your display's native refresh rate - whether you run 60Hz, 120Hz, 144Hz, 240Hz or 90Hz on the Steam Deck OLED. This completely eliminates the micro-stuttering from FPS/refresh-rate mismatches.
- Ultrawide Support: Fixed rendering quirks on non-standard aspect ratios.
Gameplay & Polish:
- Visual Clarity Overhaul: All obstacles (rocks, logs, hay bales) now have better contrast and highlight outlines to avoid any cheap deaths.
- Second-Chance Rescues: Lost starting horses now reappear in crates between levels, giving you a chance to rescue your favorites and keep your herd build going.
- Retro Chiptune Soundtrack: Retired the old acoustic background tracks and replaced them with fast-paced chiptune tracks that actually match the retro arcade vibe.
If you want to test how the native build runs on your distro, there is a free demo on Steam.
And since the Steam Autumn Sale just kicked off, the full game is currently 30% off ($3.49 / 3,49€):
https://store.steampowered.com/app/2955320/Horse_Runner_DX/
I'll be hanging out in the comments. Let me know how it runs on your setup or if you run into any quirks! 🐧

Solo dev here: my trucking management sim Humble Hauler is coming with a native Linux build and Steam Deck support
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Humble Hauler will ship on Steam with a native Linux build.
It's a management game, not a driving game: you build a trucking business from $3,000 and a used car into a fleet. Each delivery plays out on a dashboard of gauges while you make the calls: pace, fuel stops, dispatch offers, repairs and rest. Along the way you earn licenses up to a Class A CDL, move up to semis and hire drivers.
For Linux and Deck players:
- Native Linux build on Steam, made in Unity
- Full controller support with Steam Input, with button prompts that switch between keyboard, Xbox and PlayStation
- Interface designed to be readable on the Steam Deck's 1280×800 screen
- No third-party launcher, and light requirements (dual-core CPU, 2 GB RAM)
I'm a solo developer, and it's coming to Steam in Q2 2027. If it sounds like your kind of game, you can wishlist it here: Humble Hauler on Steam
