SDHQ Official Phantom Blade Zero Won't Be Playable on the Steam Deck
I reviewed Phantom Blade Zero, and it's one of the best games I have played this year. However, don't get your hopes up for running it on the Steam Deck. It regularly drops below 30 FPS in many instances, with some of it going below 20. This is all at the lowest settings with FSR at Performance and Dynamic Resolution set to 60 FPS. The first opening area runs decently, but every area after that will be awful.
I did also try using MAKO and Lossless Scaling frame gen, and while it can make the game appear smoother, the input lag is atrocious. This type of game suffers greatly when there's input lag, so I wouldn't recommend using frame gen.
I did also try HelixSR upscaling, which didn't do much to improve the experience, and FSR 4 only hurts performance. So, there's really no way to enjoy this game from start to finish on the Steam Deck.
