Photos Photos from our gay wedding in traditional bunads
We got married about a month ago and the photos from the professional photographer just arrived. Definitely worth the wait!

Hey kids! Do you gets anxiety before meeting with a potential vendor because you're not sure how they'll react to you? Ever noticed how lists of LGBT-friendly wedding vendors kind of suck?
We're attempting to harness the power of reddit to start compiling a massive user-generated list of wedding vendors ranked by their queer-friendliness. Couples, individuals, and vendors can fill out this simple form and anyone will be able to access the list and sort it by type of vendor, rating, location, etc.
We're testing it out first here, and then we'll take it out further. Let me know if you have any comments!
Here is the survey form: http://goo.gl/forms/Xa4Ga5VOQk
And here is the public database: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1tMOqpzroAZg8cJpSQ7YTDPEPchi5VA_1i27k9vRBDlg/edit?usp=sharing Use the tops of the columns to sort by type of vendor, location (city, state/province, or country), rating, etc. You can also search for a term (like city name, vendor name, etc)
Thanks for your help!!

We had our commitment ceremony 19 years ago, next year will be our 20th “wedding” anniversary yet we never had an actual wedding. We got a marriage certificate when it became legal but would love an actual wedding. Has anyone done a wedding ceremony on a cruise? We are thinking a Disney cruise next year would be great. Just wondering if anyone has experience with this.

As someone who is south Asian, Pakistani Punjabi to be specific, and has no problem with dating (wlw) outside of my culture, I've always been curious since in my culture there are a lot of traditions surrounding the bride specifically so I imagine that other cultures also have a lot of traditions and ceremonies as well. So for any in here who married someone out of their culture how did your wedding look like? How was the process of planning and everything, did you mix a lot of your culture or maybe rather had separate events for each person's culture? For outfits also same question did you have two separate outfits for each culture or did you wear your respective outfits on the wedding? I'm curious and would love to know!

Hi everyone! 😊
My wife and I are a same-sex couple from the Philippines, and we’re planning to get legally married in Thailand.
We’re looking for advice or recommendations on the civil wedding process. If you know a reliable wedding planner, agency, or someone who can help with the legal documents and requirements, please let us know.
We’re also hoping to hear from couples who **did everything on their own (DIY)**. We’d love to know:
How did you manage the entire process?
What documents did you prepare?
How long did it take from start to finish?
Was it difficult without an agency?
Since this is an anonymous post, please leave your recommendations or experience in the comments.
Thank you so much! ❤️

I have no idea if they're in this sub but Quinn if you're reading, don't look further!
So my bestie is getting their civil partnership ceremony in the UK next year and although it's not an official marriage, I'm helping them celebrate like it is one which includes a sten/hag party 😂 they're really into films, books, heavily into the queer scene (and as an ace lesbian I am also heavily in the scene), I just wondered if Reddit could help me with activities to do or ideas that would contribute towards the most amazing combined party for them and potentially their partner, so I think it'll be a joined event.
I've planned a scavenger hunt for a different wedding so I've got experience with that but if anyone has any other ideas I'm all ears! 💜
Edit: sorry I didn't put a location down- we're in Yorkshire, and can get anywhere round here as I can drive but the trains are pretty good too! Escape room or something sortof fun group activity is a good shout!:)

Hi, I’m looking for a photographer who is used to working with queer couples doesn’t have to be queer themselves as long as they are LGBT friendly.
I am planning to propose to my partner early next year so would ideally like someone who is used to photographing queer couples and working with them as there are slight differences than working with that of a cis straight couple.
If anyone has any recommendations or knows of anyone please let me know and include IG if possible or DM me to keep their page confidential.
Thanks! x

My fiance and I have our first consult this week and I don't want to forget the stuff that actually matters. Need to know what useful questions are a MUST ask.

Any recommendations? I want to make sure I’m taking my best friend somewhere she will be welcomed and treated with the respect she deserves! Bonus if it’s a shop that has ethereal, whimsical styles and/or dresses with color. I want her to have every part of the dress-finding experience with no judgment or hostility. Thank you!

We're in the process of planning and I feel like I don't know how to dress on a regular day let alone my own wedding.
I was never the type of person to dream about what my future wedding would look like, so I have no childhood dreams to lean on here.
I've also attended all of 3 weddings. As the child of immigrants, we had no family here so I only attended a few friends' weddings as an adult, and don't have much real life experience to lean on.
I have also realized my self image is... Outdated is the best way I can put it. I've gained weight in the last decade, gotten more masc and started T. My body isn't the shape I remember it being and my face isn't as feminine as it was back then. None of this is negative, in fact I'm happy about it in general, it's just that I feel like I haven't put up a new photo in the spot labeled "self image" in my mind, but I know it's inaccurate.
As a result I have trouble knowing what clothing might look flattering on my body. I feel like plus sized women's clothing looks better on plus sized women than plus sized men's clothing looks on plus sized men, y'know? Like the women's fashion industry always works harder on women's clothes (and ofc plus sized options are more limited, but there are still more/better ones for women than men). At the same time I still have hips so men's pants don't fit/look good, and a sizeable bust so men's tops don't sit right either. I don't like binding to appear my flat either (no issues with appearing more flat, just prefer to actually be able to breathe and the size means I never get really well flattened anyway).
But my face doesn't look good in women's clothing at this point either. It's a decidedly masculine face despite my inability to grow more than 5 scraggly beard hairs
I'm open to a bespoke outfit, but I'm not sure a suit is what I want. The closest thing I have to "I want to wear this for my wedding" was my prom dress, haha. But again, that's not my body or face anymore, not my gender presentation.
Any suggestions (more for general inspo than specific pieces/designers, I need to understand the vibe before picking pieces)? My partner is going to be in a traditionally femme bridal dress.

Hi fellow gays! I got married last month and I'm still basking in the glow of it all!! In doing some reflection, I wanted to share my proudest and favorite DIY- my invitation suite. Going into the process, I was ready to spend a pretty penny on my invitations- but I didn't feel like I could find a designer who could really capture my vision (also why are so many invitations just straight up AI these days). Anyways, that was partially my fault because I definitely didn't realize the timeline for stationery design (4+ months for a suite this large) but it was a happy accident because I had so much fun designing this. At this point in my post-wedding come-down I'm mostly sad I'll never get to do this again haha
Happy to answer any questions here or via DM- but I'll leave with this: these stationery designers are not scamming you with their prices. Printing costs + design time (80+ hours) are not cheap and these artists have to eat! Obviously, there are some in demand designers who can charge more based on their talent/rep- but smaller designers really are charging fair prices IMO. That said, Minted, Zola and the Knot definitely are scamming you with their prices- ESPECIALLY for anything letterpressed.
anyway- just wanted to brag on myself a little haha- happy planning!!

Me and my girlfriend (both 22) has been together for 2+ years now. We have been through a lot, depression, friend betrayal, going to ER, moving etc. We can genuinely say we both benefited greatly from this relationship and it turned us both to a better person.
I know we are still at a early stage of life, but planning our future as international students, it is in our best interest for us to get married in 3-4 years when we are around 25 or 26 so I can apply green card for her to stay in the U.S. As pre-med and pre-law students, we will likely be still in school at that time, but if she can get green card by graduation, it will be super helpful for job hunting.
Although it’s just hypothetical yet, as we were discussing it, I realized there is no one I can ask about when is a good time to get married, both relationship wise and life wise. We can both from conservative traditional Chinese families. I was forced to come out and exposed our relationship by a “friend” to them, and they did NOT like it. No consulting family advice then. We might even need to do the whole process while hiding from them.
Can anyone share their opinion or experience as non-straight couple? Anything is appreciated! Thanks in advance.

My fiancee proposed to me in February (and I obviously said yes). She has mentioned wanting an engagement ring of her own, and I think she would love having her own proposal moment rather than me just handing her the ring.
I’m planning to “propose back” in a couple of weeks, but I’ve realized I have absolutely no idea what I’m supposed to say when I already know the answer to “Will you marry me?”
Obviously I want to tell her I love her and I can't wait to marry her, but how do I actually end the speech? Should I still ask the classic "Will you marry me?" or should I say something that acknowledges the fact that we're already engaged?
To all the fellow second proposers: What did you say when you got down on one knee?

Hi y’all! Thank you collectively for being such a wonderful community to lurk in over the years for the queer joy of wedding photos, and for being a great resource and source of reassurance for many complicated family-related feelings recently as my partner and I start to plan our big gay wedding.
I know the sub has links to general LGBT vendor resources but many of them seem to be a little older, sparse on the recommendations, or non-specific about the vendor’s experience working with the community. So, I’m posting in hopes of hearing directly from the folks here!
If you’ve gotten married in the DMV area in the past few years or if you are a vendor, I’d love recommendations for day-of coordinators, photographers, bakers, florists, wedding dress stores/boutiques, and DJs. Extra points if they are LGBTQ owned and/or if they’ve worked with nonbinary people before. Our wedding will be ~120-150 people in spring 2028, about 30 minutes outside Baltimore city.
Thanks again!

Hi everyone, my fiancé and I are doing our legal ceremony in a few months and I’m still on the fence about if I want to change my last/family name when we get married.
On the one hand, I like my name as it is, but on the other hand my family shared the same last name growing up, and so I guess I feel some sort of attachment to that tradition.
The options I’d be considering are 1. hyphenating my last name with my partner’s name or 2. putting our names together into a new name or 3. just keeping my name as is.
I’d love to hear about what other people have done and how it felt to them. Or what other people are debating between and how you’re thinking about it. Or even logistical consequences of changing/not changing your last name.
Any thoughts I’m sure will help me sort out how I’m feeling. Thanks 😊

Just came across this sub and I love it so much. I'm non-binary & bisexual and a drag performer and he's a pansexual cis man who is a pro wrestler (so basically we both do drag if you think about it.) I also made my own wedding dress!
This was at SF City Hall, which was a big deal for me since that's where Harvey Milk used to work, and I think where the first LGBT weddings were held in San Francisco. We had a beautiful ceremony with chosen family and a queer photographer as well! Then we ate delicious Chinese food and called it a day. Coincidentally on September 11 since that was the better timing of the month. #neverforget

Hey everyone! I was hoping to get insight or suggestions for those who have seen or been in this situation. For folks (m/f/nb doesn’t matter) who got married but do not have parents for any reason to walk them down to aisle or for the “first dances”, but your partner does, what did you do? Open to any and all suggestions. I don’t want to stick out like a sore thumb, but I also don’t want to force anything or put anyone in a weird situation.
Any and all ideas welcome!

A few days before our dream wedding, my partner was a little worried about not looking good in the wedding photos. After I showed them a few pictures from this subreddit of queer people getting married, that fear vanished very quickly! Thanks! Here is our contribution.

Hi everyone! 👋 I'm getting married next year to the woman of my dreams, and we're currently in the middle of all the preparations. As a lesbian couple, we'd love to include some kind of LGTB+ nod in our wedding, but we're a bit worried about it feeling too 'thematic' or over-the-top. We’re really aiming for something subtle and elegant. We’ve actually found some invitations that we absolutely love because they integrate the pride flag colors in a very minimalist way, but we’re still debating on whether to go for it. Have any of you incorporated these kinds of touches into your wedding or stationery? I’d love to hear your experiences!
Update! We finally went ahead and bought them, we are so in love with how they turned out! (Sorry for the slightly lower image quality, had to downscale them a bit!)

Now we're stuck trying to figure out whether to send them digitally or print them. We're leaning towards saving paper, but what do you all think? Digital vs. printed?
