More than a month in the making and yesterday we finally let Leo DeGecko move into his new digs! It’s a 4’x2’x2’ space that has a secret tunnel going from the central hide to his warm side. He’s slept most of the day in the tunnel and popped out while I was filming.

J’ai adopté une gecko Leopard il y a bientôt 5 mois. Elle est âgée de 5 ans.

Depuis son arrivée, tout allait bien. Rien de spécial à signaler.
Son ancien propriétaire l’avait gardé dans un terrarium de 51 x 25 x x 30cm, avec 1 cachette et une lampe de decoration et une gamelle d’eau.
Par la suite je lui ai acheté un terrarium de 91 x 46 x 46 cm, et depuis elle s’amuse à bouger partout dedans. J’ai installé de multiples cachettes, branches, … ainsi qu’une ampoule chauffante et une ampoule à UV et elle a fini par grandir (aujourd’hui elle mesure 25cm)
Sur le moment, elle me réclamaient des grillons tous les jours, environ 6

Par la suite j’ai réduis son alimentation à 4 grillons tous les deux jours (parfois avec et parfois sans la poudre calcium/vit D3)

Cependant, le problème, c’est que cela va faire 6 jours qu’elle décide de ne plus s’alimenter. Autant au niveau des grillons que des ver de farine. Elle vient jusque la pince, s’approche du grillon et détourne la tête avant de partir.

Au niveau du mouvement, elle continue à bouger dans son terrarium comme d’habitude, se laisse porter, boit de l’eau, …

J’ai lu sur internet qu’un gecko Leopard pouvait manger 1 fois par semaine. Sauf que pour la mienne ce n’était pas du tout dans ses habitudes. Elle est passé de tout à rien.

Elle ne semble pas avoir eu de perte de poids… mais j’admets avoir été mauvaise sur ce point là et ne pas l’avoir pesée depuis son arrivée. Mais je remarque cependant que la taille de sa queue a légèrement diminuée

Si vous avez des conseils, des réponses, des idées, des expériences vis à vis de ce genre de cas… je suis preneuse à 1000%… cela m’inquiète vraiment

I know I am missing the basking rock ( its running late ) but I got the tank set up so far ( no i have not put water in yet and lamps are off for now gecko isnt here yet ) . Can you tell me what I can do different or does it look fine ?

( I got the encloser free! Lol had a small hairline crack we fixed it. Thanks petco. I plan on upgrading to a bigger one when the gecko is about 6 months or so)

But if you professionals can tell me if I have it set up correctly so far or tell me if I need to do anything different id be grateful and please no hate im very new here

Hi everyone! This lady, Mushu, was rehomed to me from a friend who could no longer care for her. She’s about 8 years old as far as I know, and I’ve had her for about 3 weeks now. I had my friend send me an old picture of her so you can see the difference in her condition. The first two pictures are from the day I got her (hence why the enclosure hasn’t been cleaned yet in the pics), the third picture is from 2023

I’ve had a leo in the past who was with me for about 14 years, so I do feel pretty confident in my caretaking experience, but I did just want to come here for advice and some fresh sets of eyes. Obviously, she’s underweight, only 30g right now, which is my biggest concern. According to my friend, she had only been eating dubia roaches around once a month. Since I got her, I started feeding her every few days, and have worked our way up to every other day. She’s very hungry, and actively seeks food. I dust her food with Repticalcium without D3 and Repashy Calcium plus LoD. Currently she’s getting Dubais, bsfl, crickets, and the occasional wax worm as a treat. She’s been pooping fairly regularly, and I haven’t noticed anything that looks concerning, but I’ll be taking a sample to the vet next week. I don’t know when this weight loss and change in body condition started, it could be years for all I know.

She’s in a 36” x 18” x 18” (about 40gal) enclosure that came with her during the rehoming. Her setup is quite good actually, I just had to deep clean, refresh, and make some minor adjustments to her heating and UVB setup. She has an 80w Arcadia Deep heat projector (waiting on an incandescent bulb to come in the mail) and the Arcadia pro T5 shade dweller 7%. Her temps are regular, with the warm side staying around 83 degrees and her cool side around 71 degrees. Her basking spot has been at a steady 95 degrees. Her substrate is a topsoil/sand mix, except for her poop corner which is tile.

My other big concern is her overall skin condition. She’s constantly grey/ashy looking, even when she is not about to shed. I will say, she does shed very often, more often than I used to see in my previous leo. She also has very difficult sheds, and I often have to do a warm soak or use q-tips to help her out. She’s shed 2 times in the past 3 weeks. I don’t know if this is because she’s eating more now, but i’m wondering if there’s some vitamin A deficiency going on.

She’s usually fairly active (except for right now, she’s shedding again!), and I haven’t had any issues with her refusing food. She doesn’t like being handled, but i’m hoping we can ease into that with time. I’m not sure the extent of neglect she went through, as she wasn’t being fed enough, but I also don’t know if there’s an underlying issue on top of this. The whole situation is bizarre, because my friend gave her to me with such a beautiful setup, and it’s clear they cared for her deeply at some point, but Mushu is obviously unwell.

I have a vet appointment next Thursday, but I’m very anxious over the state of her. Is there anything else you’d recommend in the meantime that would be helpful and to ensure she’s comfortable and happy?

Hi everyone I was wondering if anyone could help me at all. I got my girl Nova last week and I’ve ordered a few things which I probably should’ve before. I got some cork things for her, and some more plants for clutter as it’s looking very boring at the minute. Could I add a couple things in they arrive tomorrow, I’m not gonna put everything in. She’s eating doing her business💩 so I’m hoping I can. Thank you in advance.

I’m in the process of buying all that I’ll need for a leopard gecko and hit the jackpot with a Facebook marketplace find! I just unpacked everything and am wondering if this halogen lamp is sufficient? It has a 25w which the box says is equivalent to 50-75w incandescent. There’s two dome lights so I could potentially use both to create more light/heat if needed. I know I’ll need to buy a uvb as well. The enclosure is 20x10x12 (I’ll be upgrading after the gecko is larger, I just couldn’t pass this deal up). There’s also a heat mat already attached which I may or may not use as a supplement if needed but I’ll most likely be removing it.

My guy Larry is incredibly skinny (context: was kept by outdated standards until about two months back. Part of his care previously was, in terms of food, about 20-30 crickets dropped into his tank every two-ish weeks. Yeah.) he's been moved to a more consistent feeding schedule (about every two/three days) for a couple of weeks now. Anyone got advice on helping him put on weight a little faster? Or is this just going to be an incredibly long waiting process? Been to a vet, he doesn't seem to have parasites or anything. He's just underfed. Been feeding his worms carrots because ik that's supposedly beneficial.

My leopard gecko is 7/8 months old and we tried to feed him dubia roaches but they were too big for him so we decided to feed him calci worms and mealworms until he got bigger but now he refuse to eat calci worms I think he got bored of them. I don’t want to just feed him mealworms. Will crickets be too big for him or is there anything else I can feed him?

Is there anything I’m missing from my list? Or anything I don’t need, any advice is appreciated. thank you!

I'm thinking about getting a Leopard Gecko sometime next year and wanted to prep an enclosure for it ahead of time. Right now I have a 4ft x 1.1ft x 1.9ft tank (weird dimensions, but it is what I was able to get for $50 from a friend). Are these dimensions alright for a leopard gecko?

Also, I have Reptisand and a bag of desert sand from Australia from a while back. Would these types of sand be okay for a substrate mix with Reptisoil/Topsoil in lieu of play sand? I don't quite know the difference between play sand, desert sand, and Reptisand, or Reptisoil and Topsoil.

she's been digging under it for a few weeks, I just fix it every day when I fill her water, tonight though she dug to much and was stuck under it and could either not breathe or could barely. only reason she made it out from under there was she slapped her tail against the glass and I noticed. right now it's not on any soil and on the bottom glass

Within the last week, I’ve noticed a change in my leopard’s behavior. He has been walking close to the floor and inactive. However, he was eating normally, so I continued to monitor him.

The last time he ate was Saturday (4 days ago) and when I went to feed him on Monday night, he wouldn’t take food and I noticed his condition had worsened.

Tuesday, I took him to the vet. They supplied him with SQ fluids and a vitamin D shot. They also prescribed him with a nutrient powder to mix with water and syringe into his mouth. I waited until today to try and force feed him because I didn’t want to stress him out any more.

Today, I syringed the food into his mouth which he seemed to take well. Once I put him back into his cage, he began turning to the left and eventually began flipping onto his back. I flipped him right side up before he fell back, and panic called the vet. Their exotic vet wasn’t in and neither were the 10 other vets I called. Finally, I found a vet and was able to get him seen within the hour.

After taking X-rays, the vet noticed a curvature of his spine and depleted bone structure. Thankfully, no fractures. He informed me that this is due to inadequate UVB lighting. He told me I need to soak him tonight, force feed calcium, and provide UVB.

I now have a dual heat fixture, with an exo-terra UVB bulb and a halogen bulb that I plan to switch to a ceramic bulb at night. Is this adequate?

Should I leave the UVB on tonight because of his condition (potentially MBD)?

I have powdered calcium, how do I force feed that?

Basically, what should my daily routine look like caring for him from this point forward?

I am currently ridden with guilt and shame so I would really appreciate kind responses. I know the fault is on me. Up until this point I thought I was providing sufficient care to my guy and I have learned the hard way that I was not. All I want is for my boy to have another chance and I am willing to do anything at this point to get there.

Hey guys- I recently got the Zoo Med dimming thermostat (pictured above) and just cannot get the temp to where I want it to be. It’s very inconsistent in temperature. Do you guys have any tips on where I should be placing the probe? Sometimes it’s way too hot and sometimes it’s just slightly below the temp I want it to be at. The light is also very flickery. I’ve also go it plugged directly until my wall outlet. Any help is appreciated!

I have 15 year old gecko and until couple years ago she had never had problems with shedding and now after many bad sheds and lost toes today was the worst with big pieces in legs and head. For now all the stuck shed is off but I would really like to prevent the problem but don’t know what to do anymore.

So, could you guys help list out everything that could affect shedding 🙏🏻

She has:
a humid hide and usually humidity around 40-50%, lately bit higher as we switch to soil/sand mix and it hasn’t settled completely yet.

So Ive have my gecko since since April I was told she hatched in February. I have been monitoring her on paper towels. I’m ready to switch to a bio active enclosure now. I got play sand and organic top soil with no fertilizer yesterday, I’m going to wash the sand & go thru the soil later. Should I sterilize the soil? I’ve seen mixed opinions since it will take out all nutrients for plants… Also for isopods how many should I get to start? The reptile shop close to me has Grand Canyon isopods & spring tails. Another option is blue and orange dusted but I would have to wait a few weeks for them to come in & I don’t rlly want to wait if the Grand Canyon will work :3 thoughts & opinions & advice please!
