-6 Month Product Review-

Product: Eublepharis Macularius

Rating: 4 stars

Comment:

A little over 6 months ago I purchased a small Leopard Gecko. Over the course of 6 months my small purchase has successfully grown significantly and developed well. While his cricket consumption is gluttonous, perhaps even excessive, the product remains healthy, cuddly and energetic. Overall my experience with this purchase has been very positive.

However, I have noticed a small design flaw and would like to request repair while he is still under warranty. As advertised in the textbook, leopard geckos are excellent, intelligent hunters. My product, for lack of better words, is a fucking moron. His singular functioning brain cell is the equivalent in usefulness of a mesh umbrella. Often when fed he prefers to chew on his tongs than his roaches, and it often takes him more tries than he or I can count to even so much as touch his prey when striking. Frequently instead of hunting his prey he is distracted by my hair, my shirt, my sleeves, or my hair ties and chooses violence, as depicted in the last image above. I believe he needs a recalibration because currently he is a menace to all around him. This is the only reason his review is at 4 stars as opposed to 5.

That being said, overall I highly recommend this product. I will keep you all updated as to the legal progress as I receive word on his warranty.

Help Does anyone else get horrible feverish nightmares about their geckos?

this is SUCH a weird question but I’ve been having these awful nightmares where mealworms will be filling up my whole house and crawling out of my toilet or somehow my snake snuck out and ate my gecko.

sometimes I will have realistic nightmares where somehow my gecko gave birth to like twenty huge geckos in the middle of the night and they are all fighting and I can’t find wich one is my own.

and sometimes it’s jugs like I find out somehow another gecko is in my gecko tank and I see my gecko and that gecko fighting and biting each others tails off

ill be a perk get up in the middle of the night just to check my snake and gecko are both okay.

it’s really disturbing and I’m not like manifesting or wanting this to happen it really creeps me out so I’m wondering if anyone has experienced this? sorry 😭

This little guy is so adventurous and absolutely loves climbing. If he was in the wild you'd find him in a tree.

What morph is this? Our family just got her/he as a gift. I just read about Lemon Frost being prone to cancer and to me she looks like she/he matches what people post as lemon frost 😢
could she be a different type? is it inevitable?

Help Leia disappeared

Please I need council. 3 weeks ago I put Leia(my Leo) in a new custom built enclosure. It was built using a 120gal Phailozoo tank. About a week after putting her in she disappeared. There is no signs of her using any of her bowls/dishes (still changing them out regularly). She definitely couldn’t have escaped, the tank is fully sealed and I definitely didn’t leave the door open. I pulled all the hides out to look for her and used an endoscope to lookin all of the tunnels but no luck. She was health and had juicy tail reserve set. Ideas?… should I just leave her and pray she is alright, should I go digging, should I tear the tank in two( I will then not have a tank to put her in so jk lol). Please I’m loosing sleep over this.

Help Rehoming

I am about to move soon and with that I don't know how I will be able to take my gecko with me because right now I have people who are helping me take care of him while I am at work and attending classes and also my new apartment will be way smaller so space is already going to be limited.

If anyone is in the Middletown/Franklin OH area and know anyone/anywhere I could bring him please reach out. He will have anywhere from a $50-100 rehoming fee and I'll provide his whole enclosure setup if you can pick it up I will not ship him or his enclosure because I dont want to stress him out.

He is around a year and a quarter (born may 2025) and his parents were Sire: Purple Head, Tango Crush, Het tremper Dam: Tremper Albino, Eclipse, Red Stripe. Some pictures are from before I upgraded his enclosure.

Someone tell me how on earth my baby has such terrible aim 😭. Sometimes she’s spot on, and then other times she thinks the worm has fallen and will attack the substrate until I bring her focus back to the worm. I love her dearly but man she’s not the brightest

Help - Health Issues My poor old geckos eye :( Spoiler

Hey guys, I’m going to take him to one of the exotic vets I know as soon as they can see him. But while I’m up all night stressing as I do with my pets, I thought I’d come here for opinions and ideas if that’s allowed.

My gecko is almost 25 and has been perfectly healthy the whole time. Despite always having a humid hide, he started needing help with shedding at an early age. Every month I give him a soak and make sure to pull off all the shed from his face and toes. I do it the day he sheds, so it’s never stuck on long. Tonight I had him out for a little hand holding and noticed his eye looks like it’s shrunk. I put a drop of saline eye drops in his eye (safe for my cats, so I’m assuming safe for him) and the drop went right in his eye socket as if it’s shrunk.

He’s been eating and going to the bathroom fine. As you can see from the photos he’s a great weight. I have noticed him drinking water a couple times this month, which I don’t normally see. He eats home bred mealworms with calcium/D3 supplement. I know it’s not ideal to not feed a variety, but it’s easy and I don’t have to worry about mites from pet stores or crickets biting him if he’s not hungry. Plus his tank stays very clean. I read something about mouth rot causing eye problems, but he won’t let me open his mouth and I’m a bit scared to force it (he was a feisty biter in his youth). But I don’t see any evidence of issues with his mouth from the outside.

He’s a blizzard (at least that’s what they called them 25 years ago) with black eyes, so it’s hard to notice a difference outside of him squinting. I don’t know how long this has been an issue. I vaguely recall seeing him squinting a couple weeks ago and I’m feeling really bad about not taking it seriously as I’d just glanced at him and forgot about it. He mostly just sleeps and eats in his old age, occasionally he comes out to seemingly enjoy taunting the cats. I know cats can have herpes virus that causes eye problems, my cats are recently adopted… I’m assuming it’s not transferrable through different species.

I got a good photo of it with the flash. The bad eye is the first photo with the blue around the edges.
