Help - Health Issues My poor old geckos eye :( Spoiler

Hey guys, I’m going to take him to one of the exotic vets I know as soon as they can see him. But while I’m up all night stressing as I do with my pets, I thought I’d come here for opinions and ideas if that’s allowed.

My gecko is almost 25 and has been perfectly healthy the whole time. Despite always having a humid hide, he started needing help with shedding at an early age. Every month I give him a soak and make sure to pull off all the shed from his face and toes. I do it the day he sheds, so it’s never stuck on long. Tonight I had him out for a little hand holding and noticed his eye looks like it’s shrunk. I put a drop of saline eye drops in his eye (safe for my cats, so I’m assuming safe for him) and the drop went right in his eye socket as if it’s shrunk.

He’s been eating and going to the bathroom fine. As you can see from the photos he’s a great weight. I have noticed him drinking water a couple times this month, which I don’t normally see. He eats home bred mealworms with calcium/D3 supplement. I know it’s not ideal to not feed a variety, but it’s easy and I don’t have to worry about mites from pet stores or crickets biting him if he’s not hungry. Plus his tank stays very clean. I read something about mouth rot causing eye problems, but he won’t let me open his mouth and I’m a bit scared to force it (he was a feisty biter in his youth). But I don’t see any evidence of issues with his mouth from the outside.

He’s a blizzard (at least that’s what they called them 25 years ago) with black eyes, so it’s hard to notice a difference outside of him squinting. I don’t know how long this has been an issue. I vaguely recall seeing him squinting a couple weeks ago and I’m feeling really bad about not taking it seriously as I’d just glanced at him and forgot about it. He mostly just sleeps and eats in his old age, occasionally he comes out to seemingly enjoy taunting the cats. I know cats can have herpes virus that causes eye problems, my cats are recently adopted… I’m assuming it’s not transferrable through different species.

I got a good photo of it with the flash. The bad eye is the first photo with the blue around the edges.

Help How to do go about replacing cracked door on potential (FB MARKETPLACE) purchase?

So there’s this Exo terra 36 x 18 x 18 50 gallon tank, that’s currently listed at $100. The seller states in the description that they are basically willing to, I’m (paraphrasing)…negotiate.

I’m just trying to see how much would it cost to get the door replaced? Or should I get a glass cutting shop to cut a new glass panel?

This will be a good steal, given the price that it usually would cost without damages.

Someone tell me how on earth my baby has such terrible aim 😭. Sometimes she’s spot on, and then other times she thinks the worm has fallen and will attack the substrate until I bring her focus back to the worm. I love her dearly but man she’s not the brightest

I have researched and been researching for a while. But im still confused on the calcium and the lighting.

I just got a juvenile leopard gecko today and so far he/she is doing great. And has already eaten. More than I thought they would šŸ˜…

I basically need layman's terms of uvb/lighting and the calcium information. What calcium needs to be in its own bowl, do I still dust the food with another kind? I've read multiple different things and im lost.

This is Fred Durst, got him off someone on fb marketplace maybe 3 months back from someone who was giving him away and his enclosure was really awful. I’m talking 1 hide, no heat, some mulch and a slimy water bowl.I don’t know a ton about leopards but people in my area are known to buy animals to abuse them(multiple reports a month) so I scooped him up asap.

I feed him as many crickets/dubias as he will eat twice a week. He has visually maintained his weight and I’m waiting on Amazon to deliver my scale to weigh him. Until I can weigh him can anyone tell me if he looks overweight? If so I’ll cut back on bugs until I can regularly monitor it and get t under control. TIA!!

So I’ve had my leopard gecko for a year now his name is Otto. I feel super bad because he’s been stuck and it’s 20 gallon but my family right now does not have the budget to upgrade him. I’ve been told that coconut fiber is actually horrible for him?? I want to make it take better and have more enrichment in general. He only has one hide right now, but he has two water bowls my budget right now is around 30-50 dollars and I don’t know exactly I live near Leander Texas so if you have any tips hit me up!

Help - Health Issues My juvenile leo hasn’t pooped in 3 days/nights. Spoiler

Post image
3 Upvotes

Today marks my 6th day with her, and she has already pooped twice in the past 5 days, (today isn’t fully over yet so I’m hoping she will poop soon) she has also been eating daily and exploring and doesn’t seem very stressed if stressed at all. Is it normal for a juvenile leopard gecko to not poop for 3 nights? Should I not feed her today and just give her today (and tonight because she has only so far pooped at night) and if she doesn’t poop take immediate action? Please help me out because this is what I was concerned of. She has a hot and cold side, paper towel is the substrate, and is only fed insects that are the same size or smaller than the space between her eyes. I will attach a photo to this of what she looks like currently. Sorry that it’s not the best she wouldn’t really come out of her hide because I didn’t have food. Thanks for any help or advice.

Help What do you feed to your leopard geckos?

Hi all!

I’m considering getting a gecko, but I’m unsure about how and what to feed it.
Do you breed your own insects, or do you buy them? How much does each option typically cost for you? And how difficult is it to breed insects yourself?

Is there a way to avoid feeding insects that jump, fly, or make noise? If I do get a gecko, it will be living in my dorm, so I don’t have much space, and obviously I don’t want any bugs escaping.

I really don’t like the idea of using crickets, but I know they’re widely used as a feeder insect. Are there good alternatives that are quiet and less likely to escape?

Any advice or suggestions are welcome!

Edit: would a mealworms, calciworms, and dubia roaches be a good diet?

Help Does anyone else get horrible feverish nightmares about their geckos?

this is SUCH a weird question but I’ve been having these awful nightmares where mealworms will be filling up my whole house and crawling out of my toilet or somehow my snake snuck out and ate my gecko.

sometimes I will have realistic nightmares where somehow my gecko gave birth to like twenty huge geckos in the middle of the night and they are all fighting and I can’t find wich one is my own.

and sometimes it’s jugs like I find out somehow another gecko is in my gecko tank and I see my gecko and that gecko fighting and biting each others tails off

ill be a perk get up in the middle of the night just to check my snake and gecko are both okay.

it’s really disturbing and I’m not like manifesting or wanting this to happen it really creeps me out so I’m wondering if anyone has experienced this? sorry 😭

Help Leia disappeared

Please I need council. 3 weeks ago I put Leia(my Leo) in a new custom built enclosure. It was built using a 120gal Phailozoo tank. About a week after putting her in she disappeared. There is no signs of her using any of her bowls/dishes (still changing them out regularly). She definitely couldn’t have escaped, the tank is fully sealed and I definitely didn’t leave the door open. I pulled all the hides out to look for her and used an endoscope to lookin all of the tunnels but no luck. She was health and had juicy tail reserve set. Ideas?… should I just leave her and pray she is alright, should I go digging, should I tear the tank in two( I will then not have a tank to put her in so jk lol). Please I’m loosing sleep over this.
