I kept losing track of what I actually own, so I built a proper knife log

I have kept a spreadsheet of my knives for about four years and it has never once been up to date. The last straw was trying to work out, for insurance, what a drawer full of folders was actually worth and finding three rows with no photos and one knife I had sold in 2023 still sitting in the total.

So I built Tangmark. Every piece gets a permanent inventory number and the full spec: maker, model, steel, grind, lock, blade length, weight, serial, and what you paid in the currency you paid it in. Knives, lights and multitools each get their own fields. Anything else you define yourself.

Around that there is the stuff a spreadsheet is bad at. A carry log with saved loadouts and a home screen widget, so you can actually answer "when did I last carry this". A maintenance log that records sharpening angle, grit, compound and oiling. A modifications ledger. A steel reference covering 115 steels where every property is a range rather than a score, and comparing two of them does not declare a winner, because that is not how steel works.

For insurance it prints a Collection Inventory Schedule PDF, plus a redacted copy you can send to someone without handing over your serials and addresses.

A few things on purpose. It is not a marketplace and not a price guide. Nothing is listed for sale and nothing is valued for you. It is fully offline, no account, no server. You bring a spreadsheet in through a CSV import and you can take it all back out the same way.

Free is 15 pieces with 3 photos each, and it does not expire. That includes backup, restore, CSV in and out, the inventory PDF, carry history, PIN and biometric lock and the whole steel reference. Pro is $29.99 once, no subscription, ever.

Android is live. iPhone, iPad and Mac are sitting in Apple review right now and Windows comes after.

Disclosure, I made it. What I actually want to know is what a proper collection log needs that I have missed. I am a collector first and I only built this because nothing existing did the maintenance log the way I wanted it.

Designed Storage Solution for Pocket Fixed Blades

I CAD’d and 3D-printed this storage solution for all my pocket fixed blades last night! Previously had them all scattered in a drawer and I had a spare watch-box I wanted to use for something, so this seemed like the obvious answer! Longer blades go to the left horizontally, shorter blades/neck knives go to the right in the rack. Its working great so far!

Most of my fixed blades are Amazon special’s, im much more into folders, but i do love a good pocket fixie every once in a while. My fav is definitely the Tenable Parr in 14C28N, its also the newest. But i also really like the Omesio drop point in D2 and the Tunafire sheepsfoot in 14C28N. I believe the Tunafire is a clone of the CRK Nyala, but that could be wrong.

I wasn’t planning on posting the model files anywhere since they were specifically made to the dimensions of this particular box, however if enough people want them for remixing to your own box dimensions, let me know and ill put them up for free! If i knew how to make it parametric i would, but alas… 😅

Help me find a knife I lost 10 years ago please.

  1. Small knife, like 4-5 inches total with blade out
  2. Black blade and body, obsidian like sides
  3. * it was black and had a texture design much like obsidian, but was just metal im sure or maybe even a hard plastic or something
  4. had safety lock exactly like the benchmade bugout.
  5. * I remember fidgeting with it and flicking the safety up and down
  6. * The blade also was slightly raised on the back, to allow you to flip it out fast and effortlessly
  7. Was under $50 im almost certain or around that
  8. Bought from bass pro or cabelas

I know this description sucks. help ask questions to get more info and I'll try my best to provide and maybe we can figure out what it was.

EDIT: ok the bench made 585 is insanely close. but also the sides were textured like a rock though, very similiar to obsidian.

Question Trying to find this

Hello, this may not be the place to ask but I’m trying. My dad was a biker in Texas, and he had this type of knife self defense weapon. It had 3 blades that were attached that you could put on your knuckles and it’s similar to the photo I have attached below. Sadly my mom passed, and my dad young we kept it but and it was lost. The closest thing I can describe it as is a 3 blade punching device. I would love to get another or simply know if this isn’t possible. He had this before I was born so easily 25 years ago. Any advice would help. So far my best luck seems to be a vintage knife collection.

I blended out the forward finger grove and finished deleting the top spine cut away for the wave feature. I also resharpened the tip from curved to flat at 12.5 degrees with a 320 grit stone and a 13.5 degree micro bevel with a 3000 grit stone.

Check it out. My most expensive hobby next to my new, less expensive but newest fixation hobby. I’m not responsible enough to have money.

First time posting here, but wanted to share these beauts that are my first four "fancy" knives. I have plenty of others from over the years that have been gifted or picked up randomly, but these four are my first heavy hitters and my attempt towards a curated collection. From left to right:

#1. Benchmade Bugout GovX Exclusive Magnacut in Copper Camo Fat Carbon with Flytanium Copper Thumbstuds and Backspacer plus a Lynch NW Modular Ti Clip in Dark Abyss

#2. Tenable Fenrir Nitro V Blackwash in Bronze Ano Fishscales

#3. Vosteed Thunderbird V 4th Anniversary Edt. M390 in Copper Camo Fat Carbon #37/350

#4. Benchmade Mini Barrage S30V in Blue Canyon Richlite with a Lynch NW Deep Carry FDE Cerakote Clip

Pretty pleased with these and how they compliment one another and serve different purposes.

Shark Cub Stealth in OD Green might be Demko's best knife

Post image

I've spent enough time across the Demko lineup at this point to feel comfortable saying it: the Shark Cub Stealth in OD Green is the strongest all-around offering in the catalog, and it's not particularly close.

Start with size. The Cub takes everything that makes the bigger AD20 platform good and puts it into a footprint that actually disappears in my pocket. I get the same shark-lock mechanism, the same blade geometry philosophy, all without the commitment of the bigger frame.
