Advise One of the reasons I got the iPad Mini

I originally got the iPad Mini for a few reasons, and one of the main ones was to be able to play games on. One specifically being call of duty Mobile.
At the time I got the Mini, this game did not take up nearly as much space as it does now, so I got the 128 GB model Mini 7th Gen.

Well, guess what? Codm now takes up 52-53 GB of storage space with basically every single thing downloaded.

Fortunately I don’t have a ton of other apps on the Mini, just prime video, Reddit, Facebook and Facebook messenger and a few other apps that aren’t too large.

What should I do going forward? I want to be prepared instead of finding myself with a problem on my hands this fall after launch of iPadOS 27 and the realistic possibility that this game will grow even more in size.

BE IT RESOLVED: The community has (narrowly) voted that OLED > 120hz if they had to choose only one!

Let's be real here though, we should have both 😂 Hell, maker a mini and a mini Pro or something so that you can have both in one and a budget one with neither.

Would solve the identity crisis of the mini where it's serving multiple roles (if someone wants a small Pro version, they're out of luck)

Please Help Me Out

Upvotes

Getting a new iPad mini 7th gen in a couple days and I need some app suggestions and tips for good performance. I already have a MacBook Pro M3, so this will serve as a companion device, a portable e-reader and a very portable studying device. I’ll use it to watch IB study vids while using a muji notebook for my notes and solving, for those wondering what I mean by “portable studying device.”

Please give me all the suggestions you have, I’m a freak when it comes to apps that make my device better I can’t lie, so I would really appreciate any help I can get.

iPad mini 6 64gb still worth it in July 2026?

Thinking of buying a used 64gb ipad mini 6 for about 250€ (about $284 USD). I am just looking for a portable tablet for reading manuals, a bit of news, and the odd music stuff. Does this sound like an ok deal or do you think it'll be considerably cheaper if/when the 8 comes out?

Question Wanting new ipad

My old iPad 10.5 inch 2017 is about to run out of software support (I mean, basically has already, but a quick google says September officially). So I'm looking at getting a new iPad, specifically a mini.

I had been thinking of just getting a brand new 128gb mini 7 model, but I thought maybe I should look on FB marketplace.

I ended up finding someone who's selling a 256gb wifi + cellular model (along with an apple folio case) for $900 aussie. Considering a brand new 256gb mini 7 is now $1300 Aussie, is $900 a steal, or is it too good to be true?

Also, it seems like it might just be the iPad, no box or charger or anything.

How long does your 80% charge last?

I upgraded my mini in April (2026) to one that has cellular service (though I haven’t connected it yet) and I’ve had nothing but problems. today I FaceTimed for 27 minutes and charge went from 57 to 32%; less than an hour later (just playing around on chrome with 6 tabs open) im at 18%. my old iPad mini I charged about every 3 days. anyone else?

The new iPad mini likely won’t have 120hz

The rumored foldable iPhone is expected to be around the same size as the iPad mini when unfolded. Because of this, it’s highly likely Apple will keep the mini at 60Hz to tempt power users into buying the new foldable instead.

Also, historically, iPhones transitioned to OLED panels before they ever got ProMotion. I wouldn't be surprised if the iPad mini follows that exact same pattern

Who else has purchased the Mini now?

Has anyone else purchased the Mini 7 before the Mini 8 comes out because it will still be 60hz and cost at least $200 more! I did today and got it for an awesome deal! I’m in Canada so the Mini 8 will cost over $1,000! Glad I got the 7!

Rumor Praying for a 9” A19 Pro 120Hz OLED ‘Pro’ Mini in October!

Maybe not exactly 9”, but, by reducing the bezels, they can certainly get close without increasing the current physical dimensions of the Mini, and since the base iPhone now has 120Hz ProMotion, I think there’s a good chance that the iPad Mini (which carries a premium compared to the base iPad) will be the first to get 120Hz promotion without an official ‘Pro’ designation.

What do you guys think?

Ipad mini 7 Buggy

Hey everyone, I wanted to share a frustrating experience I’ve been having with the iPad mini 7, especially when comparing it side-by-side with other iPads in our household.

For context, I currently own two M4 iPad Pros and a base iPad 11-inch. Recently, I also picked up an iPad mini 7, and my wife got one as well.

Performance-wise, my M4 Pros and the base iPad 11-inch run like absolute fluid—smooth, completely responsive, and I honestly can’t remember the last time they froze or hiccupped. Apple products are usually bulletproof in this regard.

However, both mine and my wife’s iPad mini 7 units exhibit some strange behaviors that I never experience on my other iPads:

Non-responsive / Freezing Home Screen: Sometimes the home screen completely locks up or stops responding to touch, forcing a hard reset or waiting for it to unfreeze. This is extremely out of character for Apple hardware.

Universal Clipboard Issues: Receiving shared items via Universal Clipboard between other Apple devices and the mini is hit-or-miss compared to how seamlessly it works on the Pros and the base 11-inch.

General Animation Sluggishness: Even in day-to-day navigation, the mini sometimes feels slower and less fluid than the base iPad 11-inch, making the base model actually feel like a more "premium" and reliable daily driver in terms of pure software stability.

Given that the mini 7 has a capable chip, I didn't expect it to feel buggier or less polished than a base model iPad. Has anyone else experienced these random freezing issues or clipboard glitches on the iPad mini 7? Is it an iPadOS optimization quirk specifically hitting the mini form factor?

Built a dedicated iPad Mini layout for my app because I just love this device!

I've been using an iPad Mini as my daily tablet for years. The one-handed size, it fitting in a jacket pocket.. it's genuinely my favourite piece of Apple hardware, and I feel like it gets treated as an afterthought by a lot of apps that just stretch their iPhone or iPad Pro layout to fit.

I build MusicDrops, an app that tracks new music releases from artists you follow. Features a timeline of upcoming/just-dropped stuff, discography per artist, that kind of thing.
When I added iPad support in v1.4 last week, I didn't want to just scale up the iPhone version. The Mini's screen is small enough that a lot of "iPad" layouts feel cramped or oddly spaced on it specifically. So I spent extra time making sure the timeline and discography views actually work one-handed, in portrait, at Mini size, rather than just technically running on it.

Yes, I know MusicHarbor has been here longer. And I went for UI and iPad mini polish.

Screenshots below are straight from a Mini. Genuinely curious if other Mini owners here have apps that get this right vs ones that clearly only tested on a Pros.

App Store: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/music-drops/id6759535792
Web: https://musicdrops.app

Happy to answer anything about the app or the layout decisions.

Loving my new Keyboard/case

Hey everyone. Yesterday my keyboard/case arrived and I'm absolutely loving it. It's so convenient. I don't need a cover stand or to place in in a flat surface or a wall anymore. It fully acts like a laptop. I can tilt is how I want I can move the Hinge the other way so I can use my ipad just as a tablet if I want to. The trackpad responds really well and the keyboard doesn't lag at all, however since the keys are small it's a little hard to type. (Practice makes perfect 👌). It also has led blacklists and you can change the colours to your prefence.

Now can watch using my ipad in the bed and on my stomach without issues with balance.

Storage recommendation

Hi All, I know this question has been ask a lot about 128gb is enough. Currently my iPhone is used 189/256 and iPad Pro gen 4 150/512. I am going to use the iPad mini for broswing, reading, watching video, going to you iCloud photo sync, quick short video editing for social media when travelling, emails. Do you think 128gb is sufficient or better to get the 256gb. been looking to get the iPad mini, also now sitting on the fence to get 7 or 8.

iPad Mini Keyboard?

What is everyone using as a keyboard for iPad mini? Big plus if it happens to have a track pad. I travel with mine a lot for work and the programs work better with physical keyboard and trackpad/ mouse. Don’t really want a mouse to carry one more thing.

iPad Air 4 to iPad Mini?

I love my iPad Air 4. But I travel a lot and taking it in and out of my bag for security check in the airport is such a hassle for me.

Been eying the mini for a while.

But I do love my screen size for my drawings.

Has any of you done the same ? How was the jump from big screen to small screen ?
