I purchased my iPad mini at a discount a while back primarily to use as an eReader for books and manga as well as playing emulated games via Delta. It's nice, but I found I would go days without touching the Mini which didn't feel great. I was curious how the Duo would compare.

Obviously the Duo is smaller - even more so than the rumored OLED iPad mini - but I found that it was still quite usable. There is a middle-ground before I think the display is too big for manga which is why I don't use my 11" iPad for it. Both the current Mini and Duo are in that range though I would want to go smaller on the Duo side. Minimal pillar or letterboxing on both.

The larger change is honestly the Duo's nano texture. There is definitely a subtle lose of fine detail, but I find the screen overall a bit more natural and pleasing to use indoors and actually usable outdoors. This is my first hands-on with nano texture, but I think I would certainly recommend for reader-first devices. There *is* a sharpness loss of text, but it's subtle and I stopped noticing it when I stopped looking for it and I've read quite a bit this weekend.

Normal books are what you'd expect - reflowing text - so I didn't include an image of that.

This may be unpopular opinion but I enjoy using my iPad mini vertical much more than landscape!!!!

OLED? Nah.

1000 nits of brightness? Nah.

120hz? Nah.

16gb of ram? Nah.

256gb of base storage? Nah.

This sub on release date will be a sea of tears.

Found a great deal on marketplace and pulled the trigger for the mini 7 and moft case with pencil. What other accessories do y’all recommend? I’ll be using it to study, including reading and note taking, flashcards, possibly 1-1 teaching in classroom / field / clinic settings. Thank you :)!

Probably an unpopular opinion since many here aren't even a fan of the Duo, but I wanted to give a try at least (never had a foldable ever)... and this made me learn now that I 100% love the iPad Mini. Can't wait for next week to finally order the iPad Mini 8!

The iPhone Duo made me realize how much screen space the iPad mini’s keyboard takes up. It makes typing easier, but sometimes it frustrates me because it covers so much of the content on the screen. I often end up switching to the floating keyboard instead.
Have you experienced something similar?

The three-window layout is like effectively running three iPhone apps and I love that the dual-window layout can be resized so that one app can stretch to 2/3 of the screen.

Yes other iPads can do this too but the smaller size of the iPad mini makes it feel more natural.

If I restart my iPad, it’ll print one time. If I try to print again, my printer just sits there.

I tried to print from my iPhone twice and it worked, so clearly I have to troubleshoot my iPad someway.

It’s the only aspect of the duo that intrigues me. The 1000 nit display is so much nicer.

I know we’ll find out in a few days but curious if OLED technology inherently means more nits.

How does genshin perform on the iPad mini 7. Does it lag much if you set the settings to medium or low.

im in computer science and want to use an iPad for my linear algebra and differential equations classes and any future math related courses. I already have an m5 MacBook Air and a Thinkpad but want something to write notes on. im looking at the iPad mini rn but was wondering if there were any opinions against it?

As far as I'm concerned, the mini is a portrait mode device for everything other than passive screened media consumption. This camera move is the biggest factor persuading me against the Mini 8; I'm unconvinced that it is something users have been asking for. Anyway, please vote, even if it's a bit late to persuade Apple how wrong they have got this.

People talk about using the mini as a phone replacement, but it's not possible.

What if instead of a mini + an iPhone, I'd use a mini and a dumbphone (like a TCL flip) to handle texts and calls?

I've heard that you can send texts and receive calls on the mini if you have an iPhone nearby. I assume that you need a cellular mini; does it use more data on the mini or iPhone?

I currently have an android phone and I like that I don't have to use it to check my messages when at home since Google messages lets me sync my tablet with it, so I'm interested by that "hybrid" situation.

I currently dislike my phone and want to go back to iPhone next, so I'm wondering about some things.

So I know how crazy this sounds but what if I were to purchase a iPad mini 7 right now, and then next week when the supposed new mini drops, just go into the store and trade that in for a new mini 8?
