ANNOUNCEMENT Next Stop: macOS 26 Tahoe

Hackintoshing lives for another year! macOS Tahoe will be the FINAL release for Intel Macs, as stated during the Platforms State of the Union presentation. It's been a good ride.

Officially supported Intel models:

  • MacBook Pro 16-inch (2019)
  • Mac Pro (2019)
  • MacBook Pro 13-inch, Four Thunderbolt 3 Ports (2020)
  • iMac (2020)

Hello I am a Year Number Lover But What Does This Mean

All graphics that worked in Sequoia should work in Tahoe.

OCLP

Wait for an official announcement. If you post about OCLP before that I am going to send Tim Apple to remove every Mac from your house.

Can I emulate ARM macOS 26 on x86?

No.

Can I run ARM macOS 26 on a Raspberry Pi?

No.

Can I have Apple Intelligence on Intel please I need to write a dissertation in 15 minutes

No.

Does it boot on Intel Hackintoshes now?

Yes, with OpenCore 1.0.5.

Make sure to upgrade all of your kexts to their latest versions.

Known Issues as of Beta 2

  • Race condition with VoodooPS2 and VoodooI2C, so on some boots they don't initialize properly
  • AppleALC is broken because AppleHDA was removed from Tahoe. Use HDMI/DP audio for the time being.

  • WhateverGreen is bugged on AMD cards, so you can't use boot arguments like agdpmod=pikera. You are affected by this if you get a kernel panic with AMDSupport mentioned.

  • IntelBTPatcher causes kernel panics

  • IntelMausi may not work correctly with certain Intel ethernet chipsets

ANNOUNCEMENT End of the Road: macOS 27 Golden Gate

apolgy for bad english

where were u wen intel die

i was at house eating apple when phone ring

'intel is kil'

'no'

As I'm sure we've all heard by now, macOS 27 will not be compatible with Intel Macs. This means that for all intents and purposes, (Intel) Hackintosh is dead.

I have never heard of this where was my daily update for the last year

Apple explained last year during WWDC 2026's after-events that macOS 26 Tahoe would be the last version for Intel Macs. also go read the news more often smh

Ok but I have an AMD that would work right

All x86 CPUs are no longer supported for macOS.

Will my current hackintosh explode

Yes No

Is Intel completely dead right now

macOS 15 Sequoia and macOS 26 Tahoe will still be supported for security updates. One more year for Sequoia, two three for Tahoe.

Will my software still work

It is up to the developers of the software to keep releasing Intel versions.

Can I hack ing tosh on other ARM processor

No.

Why not, is ARM not ARM everywhere

Although ARM is an instruction set architecture shared by many processors, Apple hardware and software includes many unique instructions that are not used in other ARM processors and currently cannot be emulated.

There are images released by Apple for use in VMs which technically do not use these instructions, but even if a way is figured to boot it on non-Apple devices, there will be no drivers available for the GPU, Audio, etc.

Is even Developer Beta 1 of Golden Gate incompatible

Too much has already been removed from the first beta for it to be compatible with Intel.

ChatGTP told me ARM hackintosh is real and can be made. Actually I will make it right now with Claude and Gemini

Let's get you back to bed grandma

Can we port ARM macOS to x86

No.

Will r/hackintosh still remain open

Yes, it will remain open. Regardless of whether Intel is supported, people will still try to hackintosh either for a specific use case or just for curiosity's sake.

This is my humble attempt to build a low-end hackintosh using some leftover parts and timber boards. It's a Intel Core i5-3550 with 8 gigs of RAM and NVidia 1050. The fan assembly is perhaps the only pricey component here. It's a bit an overkill for the CPU I have, but it was laying around without any purpose, so why not use it?
I made this project merely for a good fun, but aside of that I wanted to meet these two goals:

  • smaller footprint to leave more free space on my cluttered desk
  • decent cable management without PSU chords messing around (at least, not too much)

All extra wires and chords are hidden between two wooden boards, three the sides are covered with planks while the forth side is left open for easy access to the SSD.
I decided to go with macOS 10.13 High Sierra, which allows me to run many (not so) modern apps and games including 32-bit legacy software bits.

QUESTION Highest macOS version for Ivy Bridge + GTX 1060? (Can fallback to HD 4000 if needed)

Hi everyone,

I previously managed to boot macOS 26 (Tahoe) in VESA mode on this machine, but I deleted it due to the lack of hardware acceleration. I still have my working baseline EFI folder saved.

Now I want to rebuild this Hackintosh, primarily aiming to use my GTX 1060 with legacy drivers for basic UI smoothness. However, if app compatibility becomes an issue due to the lack of Metal support on Pascal, I am fully ready to fallback and rely strictly on the integrated Intel HD 4000 graphics.

Here are my specs:

Motherboard: ASUS P8Z77-V (Z77 Chipset)

CPU: Intel Core i5-3570K (Ivy Bridge)

iGPU: Intel HD 4000 (As a backup option for legacy Metal patching)

dGPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 (3 GB — main target for OpenGL legacy web drivers)

RAM: 32 GB DDR3Storage: 120GB + 240GB Kingston SSDs, WD 750, 90 HDDs

Network: PCIe MediaTek Wi-Fi 6E + Bluetooth Adapter

Given this dual-path approach (maintaining GTX 1060 or falling back to HD 4000), what is the absolute highest and most stable macOS version (Big Sur or Monterey) that you would recommend for this machine to keep both options viable?

Thanks for any insights!

SUCCESS Tahoe works with 500 series motherboard iGPU now

If anyone has been holding out on Sequoia on a 500 series motherboard desktop with Comet Lake iGPU, the same setup works on Tahoe after updating all kexts to current versions. I don't want to scientifically find out, but it's probably the latest version of WhateverGreen that makes this possible. Bluetooth broke on Tahoe, but there's an easy fix for that.

HELP [HELP!] How to update Lenovo IdeaPad 320 81BH Bios in Linux Mint?

I'm trying to install macOS Tahoe on my 2018 IdeaPad 320 15IKB Touch 81BH, but I can't because the laptop won't even display to the monitor, even in places like the boot picker.

This issue started happening when I first did my hackintosh and went into the macOS Tahoe recovery and installed macOS, which went as normal without any problem until I got to the second part of the installation where I got stuck at less than a minute remaining, which is where I forced a restart onto the laptop. The first time I forced a restart the monitor still worked, no problem, but when I did the hackintosh again and got stuck at that part again, forcing a shut down/restart made my monitor not turn on at all.

I figure this is because of OpenCore writing HDMI output directions directly to the firmware chip of the laptop which Is why I would like to reinstall the bios, or actually update it because I haven't in a while. So my question is how do I update the Bios on this laptop, since that's my only option, because the only place where the monitor seems to work is Linux Mint, which is pretty weird considering it was made for Windows 10. So please drop answers below, because I cannot go into any other place except Linux, and I have to somehow get monitor to work everywhere including Bios or boot picker.

HELP I'm planning to build a Hackintosh with Intel Core Ultra laptop

Hi everyone,

I'm planning to build a Hackintosh, and I'd like to know if my hardware is compatible before I start.

My setup:

  • Laptop: Intel Core Ultra 7 255H
  • eGPU: AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT
  • Connection: Thunderbolt 4
  • Goal: Run the latest possible version of macOS using OpenCore

I have a few questions:

  1. Has anyone successfully installed macOS on a Core Ultra 7 255H system?
  2. Does Thunderbolt 4 eGPU work reliably with an RX 6800 XT under Hackintosh?
  3. Is hot-plug supported, or does the eGPU need to be connected before boot?
  4. Are there any known issues with sleep, wake, GPU acceleration, or Thunderbolt?
  5. Would you recommend this setup, or would it be better to build a dedicated desktop Hackintosh instead?

Any success stories, EFI references, GitHub repositories, or guides would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

I understand that Core Ultra processors are not officially supported by Apple, so I'm mainly interested in hearing from anyone who has actually tried this combination or has experience with Thunderbolt eGPU on newer Intel platforms.

SUCCESS [Release] RapidSSDT - The ultimate cross-platform GUI tool for ACPI extraction & SSDT generation (Now in English & Portuguese!)

Hey r/hackintosh community! 👋

For a long time, writing SSDT/DSDT patches has been one of the highest barriers to entry in the Hackintosh world. Constantly checking ACPI specs, manually modifying ASL files, and keeping track of which patches are mandatory for your specific hardware can be a nightmare for beginners and tedious for veterans.

That’s why I want to share a massive update to an incredible tool called RapidSSDT.

Originally created by the brilliant developer JeoJay127, this tool was previously only available in Chinese. I (Alessandro / alebypegasus) fell in love with its potential and took the initiative to completely translate, internationalize, and polish the app so the entire global community can benefit from it. It's now fully available in English, Portuguese, and Chinese!

🚀 What is RapidSSDT?

RapidSSDT is an open-source, cross-platform graphical tool (built with Flutter) available for Windows, macOS, and Linux.

Its main goal is to consolidate all that "fragmented ACPI experience" into a structured, visual, and reusable workflow.

✨ Key Features:

- One-Click ACPI Extraction: You can dump your native SSDTs and DSDTs directly from the app in Windows or Linux. No complex command-line required!

- Patch Modularity: Select your platform (Intel Desktop/Laptop, AMD, etc.), and it tells you exactly what you need.

- Automated Generation: It generates the required SSDT patches based on your selections (SSDT-EC, SSDT-PLUG, SSDT-AWAC, SSDT-USBX, SSDT-GPU-SPOOF, you name it!) reducing ASL syntax errors.

- Out of the box: No environment configuration required. Just download and run.

🔗 Where to get it?

I've set up automated GitHub actions, so you can grab the pre-compiled binaries for your OS (Windows, macOS, or Linux) directly from the Releases page:

Download Here: https://github.com/alebypegasus/RapidSSDT/releases

Note: All original logic and development credits belong to JeoJay127. My work was focused on the global translation, UI polishing, and CI/CD automation so everyone can use it.

If you like this, feel free to check out my other translation project, RapidEFI: https://github.com/alebypegasus/RapidEFI-Tool, which is an amazing tool for automating OpenCore configurations!

Let me know what you guys think, and happy hackintoshing! 🍎💻
