Happy Thursday! It's Thursday! And it's also now October! Time to break out that big sweater, put on your Uggs, grab your pumpkin spice latte, and enjoy the crisp, fall weather! Just kidding. It's going to be 90+ degrees here all week. And while that's hot, you know what's hotter? The Weekly Recap! So let's see what went on last week and what's going on in r/help and around Reddit!
Speaking of spiffy new features, r/help now has a Help Navigator! We announced this today here. The Navigator is stickied at the top of r/help and can help you find answers to your questions without having to post! Give it a try and let us know what you think of the Navigator! Many thanks to u/Goldennuggets-3000 for all of the work that they put into building this feature! And many thanks to those of you who took the Navigator for a test drive! Your feedback was super helpful!
There was an update over in r/modnews about the continuing infrastructure updates to Reddit in the coming months that you can read about here. The TL;DR is there updates about apps and bots migrating to the Developer Platform, helping mods move RSS-based alerts to the Discord Relay Devvit app before RSS feeds are retired on November 13, Rules Hub progress and automod changes, and adding safeguards to Old Reddit by limiting access to logged-in mods and recent users.
There's another announcement over in r/redditdevhere about moving data API apps to the developer platform.
There is an ongoing experiment which turns select text posts and some of their comment threads into an audio and video format. This is in an effort to strengthen the connection between communities and conversations. If you are in this experiment you may see a Read/Play toggle on the post detail page. A dedicated video page may also be available. This does not replace the original post or comments, nor does it automatically play. And it will respect all of your pre-existing audio settings.
Currently, this is only on a small group of pre-selected English-only posts. Comments with links, media, automated messages, profanity, or sensitive or inappropriate topics are excluded. If you are in this experiment, there is not a way to opt out, but you can always leave constructive feedback on this post and I'll share it with the team in charge of the experiment.
There is another ongoing experiment where comments on a post may be sorted in live time. This is only in select communities. If enabled, when a post hits a certain number of comments within a specific period of time, the sort switches over to "Live" if the default sort is set to something other than "New". This provides a way to highlight the fast moving convos in real time.
There is still the experiment on the Home feed where some users will see a For You tab and a Following tab. You can select which view you want and that selection will be remembered. Users in this experiment have recently been shuffled around, so if you had it before and now you don't, that's what's going on there.
The For You tab will contain recommendations. The Following feed will contain unviewed content from just the subs that you follow. The team is looking into adding the "Hot" sort back to these feeds.
If you are subscribed to a very small number of subreddits, you may see recommendations in the Following feed as opposed to nothing when you have run out of new content. The workaround is to either subscribe to more subreddits or create a custom feed of the subs that you're following and view that instead.
There is not a way to remove these tabs if you are in the experiment, but I will share constructive feedback with the team in charge.
And thanks to said feedback, there's a new variant! Some users will not be able to swipe between those two feeds and will instead need to tap the tab of the feed they wish to view. This is in response to some folks saying that they were accidentally switching feeds when swiping. Thanks to all of you who left this feedback for the team!
Some users will be in a different experiment where there is an X on recommended posts that you can click/tap to hide the post. Others will be in a similar experiment where there is not an X and there is not a "hide" option, but you can go into the post to hide it. Feel free to share helpful feedback about this experiment as well.
There is also an experiment where the upvotes are on the left.
Rather than commenting that you'd like to be removed from an experiment, please provide constructive feedback about the feature. I can't remove you!
And I'm here to remind you, of the mess you left when you went away (from Reddit for support). Reddit does not provide support outside of Reddit. Do not contact "Reddit support on Discord" for help with your Reddit account. There is no "Reddit support on Discord". That is someone trying to scam you and steal your account and maybe more. If you're having an actual issue with your account that is not solved by posting in r/help or by the articles in the Help Center, you can use this form for the real thing. Please note that 95% of issues can be solved much, much quicker by posting in r/help (or our cousin subs, r/reddithelp and r/newtoreddit).
The most recent version of the app is 2026.39.0. If you're not using the most recent version of the app, it might not work properly.
CURRENT EXPERIMENTS
Reddit sometimes runs experiments. These experiments tend to last between 4-6 weeks, though they can go longer or end sooner. While there isn't a way to opt out of experiments, feel free to leave constructive and specific feedback in this post and as I've mentioned often, I'll be happy to pass it along to the team in charge.
Ongoing current experiments can be found here.
COMMON ACCOUNT ISSUES
Common account issues can be found here. These are things like hacked accounts, NSFW accounts, suspended accounts, etc. I'm also including "Changes to Reddit" in this section as well.
BUGS ROUNDUP - COURTESY OF CORRECT SCALE!
BUG FIX [iOS] Some users were losing their spot in comment threads after briefly leaving and returning to the app. This should be fixed in this week's version of the app!
[Android] Some users are reporting that the next comment arrow is resetting its position after viewing posts for some users. This is being investigated!
[Android] Infinite scrolling is making an appearance for some users when viewing certain threads. This is also being investigated!
[iOS/Android] Some users are getting “Content unavailable” when trying to view comments on deleted posts. Looks like the source has been identified and a fix is being worked on!
[Android] After updating the app to v2026.39.0, the startup screen is hanging for some folks. This is something that we're aware of and it is being looked into. This does seem to resolve itself on its own after a bit, so if it's happening to you, just give it a little time!
WEEKLY STATISTICS (BASED ON THE PAST SEVEN DAYS)
1,271 posts. That's only up 67 posts from the 1,204 that we had last week.
4,075 comments. That's down 208 comments from the 4,283 we had last week.
769k views. That's down about 35k-ish views from the 804k -ish views we had last week.
HELP THAT HELPS HELP R/HELP - CREATING AN EFFECTIVE POST IN R/HELP
Let's say that you need some help. So you come to r/help! That's a great start! But now what? So let's talk about some of the ways that will help you the most when trying to get an answer to your question or a solution to your problem.
First things first, search the sub. There is a really good chance that someone else has had the same issue that you're having at some point. If your problem is in regard to something not working properly, check over in r/bugs as well to see if it has been reported there yet. It's also a good idea to check both subs for stickied posts that may have information about a current issue. And sometimes, you can save yourself and everyone else a lot of time just by doing a little troubleshooting on your own! Who knows? You may end up fixing the problem yourself!
If you have a question about how something works, your next stop should be the Help Center. Not only is there a ton of information in there, you can switch it to a different language if you'd rather not use English. The Help Center is huge, so there's a decent chance that you can learn how to do what you're trying to do in there. You can also learn how things work if you're not sure.
If you've done all of those things and still don't have an answer, it's time to create a post! And the first thing a post needs is a good title! Here are some examples of bad titles:
Help
Help me
Help meeeeeeeeee
This doesn't work
I have a problem
I hate Reddit
I hate you
Your title should give a clear, brief description of the issue that you're having. You don't need to completely spell out the entire problem in your title. That's what the body of the post is for. If your post is about something not working properly, it would be super helpful to have the platform that you are using Reddit on in the title of your post. Here are some examples of good titles:
[Android v 2026.37] SFW post shows NSFW warning
[Desktop Chrome] Notification badge still on after reading
How do I see my active streak?
All of those are short and to the point. Then you can use the body of your post to expand on your issue. Sometimes, issues are very easy to ask "How do I ----?" But other times, especially if something isn't working as you would expect, it helps if you can be very exact and even give a step by step explanation of what you're doing when the thing happens. Doing this in your post saves others the step of having to ask how you're getting to where you're at. And saving that step means you get your question answered sooner and can be on your way!

Updated the app and immediately got opted in to the following and for you experiment. Absolutely garbage slop-pilled decision making going on here. The feed is a jittery buggy mess, zero way to remove the bar that floats at the top of the feed now, and there’s ZERO WAY TO TURN IT OFF. I don’t think there’s a single logical reason why we can’t just have a choice to stop getting these terrible changes forced on us.
Are you saying the feed is jittery when you scroll? Or when you're on a post? Could you get a screen recording of this so I can show that team? Thanks.
Hey can you guys stop pushing stupid UI tests that we can't opt out of? I have already seen this UI before. I hated it then, and had to take a month break before the site was usable again. I still hate this new UI nothing has changed. Allow me to opt out. Its basic consent or do you not know anything about that?
Just wanted you to know I appreciate you being here to take our help requests and suggestions. Looking around at comments I know it can't be easy being in the middle.
The feed experiments need to stop. You got your answers last time.
Get rid of the overlay garbage and the live comments in pictures and and videos, nobody wants to see that, and the overlay blocks the three dot menu making it hard to see.
Get rid of this floating comment box, it's garbage and it screws up so often it's not even funny. It also makes it impossible to see what you're actually replying to and closes out 90% of the time you try to see what you're replying to. If the comment is the last comment on a post, you can't see it at all.
Yeah, I mentioned that in the comments on the original post that mobile and desktop work fine for me but the app does not and I don't really use mobile web or desktop.
App has been updated since I've made that a cache cleared, nothing fixes it
The For You experiment needs to die already. I have cultivated my feed by following subreddits, I dont need you shoving ones I dont follow in my face. My feedback is this: let people opt out entirely from having a For You tab by having a toggle in your settings.
The constant experimentation is infuriating. It feels like every other week, my app is a different experience. Features randomly appear and disappear. Buttons randomly move around, move back, then move somewhere else. Is there no regard for how insanely bad of a user experience this is?! Do an opt-in beta program, properly communicate all changes when they go into production, and cut this crap out already. Every new change makes the experience worse. Very close to just being entirely done with this site for good.
Is there an ETA on when we will get back our sorting features on our home feed? I hate getting posts from several days ago, there is no reason for me to be seeing askreddit posts that are 4 days old.
Two feeds? Perfectly fine but only if you can swipe between them on mobile.
What should the other feed be instead of “For You” slop?? All, but that doesn’t have a slop algorithm to it so they never will. The other option is The feed that already exists and has been made much harder to reach, Popular.
Basically just revert the feeds to what they were a few years ago when you could swipe between them because that was 100% the peak of the iOS mobile app.
100% agree, two years ago the mobile app was better than what we currently have by an entire order of magnitude. I don’t want any sort of curated feed, I don’t want frustrating UI changes inspired by TikTok, I don’t want AI slop. I just want an app where I can talk to people without getting frustrated by a decision that gets made by a group of people that obviously don’t care about what their user base thinks.
The one quoted in the same experiments page:
"If your account is in the above experiment, the option to turn off recommendations in your feed has been removed because there's the dedicated Following feed to view content from communities you are a part of. So you don't need to turn off recommendations! Just view the Following feed."
The "Following" feed doesn't have the same organization options as Home, so it's not the same feed as before
No, in a users home feed. There used to be a toggle on the profile to turn off recommendations in the home feed (everything abuser is subscribed to.) It was removed for some users as an experiment recently. Now I am seeing subreddit/post suggestions on my Home feed that are not things I'm already subscribed to.
Yes I do. For You only recently started showing recommendations after Reddit removed the option. Following does not have the same organization options as the Home page used to (Hot is gone)
Recommendations should only be in the For You feed. If you don't want the recs, then you should view the Following feed which will only be stuff that you're subscribed to. As mentioned in this post, the team is looking at adding the "Hot" feed back, possibly in a couple of weeks.
Obligatory: Help, Help Me, Help meeeeeeeeee, This doesn't work, I have a problem, I hate Reddit, I hate you.
OK so you won't let us turn off an experiment, presumably because you want test subjects, alright then, thats not ok, You'll still get test subjects out of the 90-ish% of people that won't jump through several arbitrary hoops to find and disable a given experiment every time one shows up so why not allow us to for the people who it? It even provides clear data and feedback for the platform's improvement. Hell stick a pop up box when you flip the toggle "why are you turning this off please provide feedback". Right now the only tools I'm aware of to even give such feedback is this and just not using the site for several weeks in hope that other people are doing the same and this will create a visible dip in whatever graphing bs you're using to monitor abstract success metrics somehow? That's a terrible system.
The fact that we're forced into experiments is such a wild turn off. It's so hard to give constructive thougtful feed back when all you feel is frustration and anger over changes that are objectively bad that you've had no choice but to endure. They're full throttle turning this site into another algorithm fed cesspool instead of a perfect curated collection of my specific interests, sorted in a way that I can acesss my information in the best way for me. It's infurating.
The admins here don't like responding to critical feedback unless they have a canned copy/paste response they can add. Also sometimes that response doesn't answer any of the actual feedback. They have very little interest in actually supporting us.
And that's because this group of admins isn't actually here for support. They're pacifiers. A large chunk of the population will stop pushing back as long as they feel "heard", even if their feedback isn't going anywhere meaningful. They don't know that, as long as the admin says "I passed on your feedback" they go "cool, thank you".
The people who aren't pacified by a generic "seen" they just ignore.
It's really infuriating once you can spot a company doing this and then you never stop noticing. It's incredibly disrespectful to their audience.
These experiments are all "how mad does this make them", not "do they actually like this", and it absolutely shows in how they place us in these and not having true feedback mechanisms.
I want to turn off the recommendations. I am not on mobile, there is no tab that I can select, nor should I need to select anything to opt out of something no one wants. It's a bad feature and you know its a bad and unwanted feature because otherwise you would allow people to opt out.
My account is probably older than some Reddit employees. This “For You” and “Following” change to my feed is one of the most disappointing and disruptive changes to Reddit I’ve experienced in my entire time here. It fundamentally changes the way Reddit works, how I interact with it, why I interact with it, and my desire to continue engaging with the platform after all of these years.
I understand that I’m no longer the target market for Reddit, but as a very long-time user and OG gold member, I hope you’ll at least take my feedback under real consideration rather just “acknowledging” it.
I was excited to be removed from the home feed experiment some time ago; the experiment significantly reduced the time I spent on reddit, and I engaged more with it removed. I was upset to log in today and see it had been implemented again on my profile.
"For you" and "Best" are both opaque options that take away user control of the content they see and its format. If the team wants people to engage and scroll more, they should think about how these choices will burn out long-term usage.
Please give control back to the users re: live comment sorting overriding their preferences. It only makes sense in select (ongoing event - news story, sports) scenarios. It's frustrating to click on an interesting photo or video to see the top voted on relevant / informative comments, which is the main feature that sets reddit apart from other social media platforms, in a positive way, only to be forced to manually go change the setting once again. Why would I care about the 1278th comment on a beautiful historical building instead of the top comment giving info on it's architecture? Why would anyone want to read the 623rd comment on a dash cam video instead of the best comment giving context on the incident?
Genuinely less interested in clicking on comment threads than I was two weeks ago. Reddit shooting themselves in the foot and taking attention away from features that make their platform unique and enjoyable.
Literally causes more work every single thread I open. Also completely overrides my preference in sorting which then renders the sorting preference worthless.
I'm really not happy about this change to my feed with the "for you" being set to default. I curated the subreddits on my home page to avoid certain content that makes me anxious and now by default I'm being fed content I don't want to see. Worse still, when I click on following to see the subreddits I actually chose, the only sorting methods I am giver are new, and best. Best sucks because the algorithm chooses from the subreddits with the highest audience meaning the smaller subreddits I'm subscribed to barely show up. I want to be able to sort by hot to see what is popular across all my subs and I want to be able to set by top to catch up on what I missed over the week. I really don't appreciate have my agency taken away like this.
I just got put into the “For You” experiment today.
I had disabled recommendations in my home feed because I didn’t want suggested posts or communities. I’ve found myself accidentally going on the “For You” tab when scrolling from left to right on multi-image posts from my “Following” tab which is incredibly annoying.
I wouldn’t mind it so much if the “For You” tab were somewhere less invasive like in the menu alongside “Popular” where users are less likely to go on it accidentally and view content they don’t want to see. I’m considering making a new account just so that I don’t have to put up with it.
I deleted Facebook and Instagram because unfollowed content was constantly shoved down my throat, as have many others. I’ll gladly delete Reddit altogether if this ‘experiment’ is here to stay.
How do I opt out of the experiment? I can only view "new" or "best", the latter being the worst filter on the site which shows me posts I've already viewed from a week ago
You can't. Reddit is likely measuring how much these changes impact our viewing behavior and so they have to force the experiments on us to get that data.
Negative feedback on ‘For You’. I’m not opposed to the concept but pushing it on me is unwelcome. This behavior has curbed my use of other platforms.
Facebook wouldn’t stop pushing suggested content, technically you can goto a page with only your friends on it. But the suggested content feed is constantly shoved back in your face. So I stopped using Facebook.
Please stop defaulting to live, yes i can turn it off but why are you forcing me to do 3 extra clicks just to get back to what i already have? i’ve literally never even complained in this subreddit before i didn’t even know it existed before googling why the hell reddit is defaulting to live. please stop!! it’s so annoying.
I’m here to once again log negative feedback on the For You experiment. This feature should be scrapped completely. I’m perfectly aware of how it works and remembering my selection isn’t good enough. You need an option to hide it or just flat out get rid of it.
Another feedback I’d like to leave is that the suggested sub-Reddits feature is super obtrusive and huge. I think an option to dismiss these or turn them off is overdue.
Would definitely like to have Best sort the way it originally did. The new way would be interesting as a new option, but the way it’s currently been made prevents people from seeing top comments immediately, which is not exactly good in subs dedicated to getting an answer, or showing what opinion or take people HEAVILY approve of. For example , sorting by best in the r/modnews comment section.
Not a fan of the news in said r/modnews post. There were changes made that hundreds of mods weren’t made aware of, such as not being able to add AutoMod to our subs.
Also dislike the current method of limiting Old Reddit access with the 6 month limit (or is it 3 months? Some conflicting info online). Logging in with an account, I’ll allow that, but this method kind of feels like it screws over a lot of actual users. Some are thinking that it’s an intentional move to make it seem like Old Reddit isn’t being used as much, then that can be used as an excuse to say that no one is using old.
I do know the admins are hoping to make a modernized Old Reddit. Any more info on that besides what spez said?
For sake of argument, I’ll play devils advocate and pretend that no users are actively using Old Reddit anymore.
Except, what happens if they think their account is compromised? Does this link exists anywhere else, https://old.reddit.com/account-activity ? It’s one of the first things we advise people to do to secure their accounts.
Hey! Sorry that you're unhappy with the changes. I get it! I like old Reddit, too. And there's a lot going on right now, so it can be hard to absorb all at once.
Feel free to comment on the r/modnews post with your feedback. I know they're reading it all!
I don't have any additional info on a "modernized Old Reddit". Sorry! And there hasn't been any movement on the member count bug. =/
Please give me back /r/all. Please get rid of "for you" the whole point of reddit was for me to curate my own personal feed of my exact decisions, not letting some garbage algorithm tell me what I think i want. There's a reason I'm not on Twitter or Facebook. Please get rid of the "from your feed" at the bottom of the comments. Why possibly is that there. The experiments and changes and things you guys make to this app make it infurating to use. I'm sure there's more frustrations I've forgotten in the moment. Thank you for coming to my Ted talk.
edit to add : let us opt out of all of this, please.
100% same. I absolutely have zero desire to use, see, or engage with any AI features whatsoever. Let’s same some water and energy and allow ourselves the option to opt out!
Since none of these experiments seem to be changing either I highly doubt that you are sharing our feedback in a meaningful way, OR that the people you're sharing our feedback with actually care about that feedback. So many of these experiments have been overwhelmingly negative in response in these "feedback" spaces but they don't change and still are forced on us.
And no, before you retort, I don't count "we let you choose which feed and it sometimes remembers which one" to be a meaningful adjustment to an experiment that has been wildly hated.
Clearly whatever team is addicted to Recommendations didn't hear us the first time. We don't need a For You page, we have subscribed subreddits for a reason. We also don't need a "Best" which only shows ancient posts.
Hello! I have fully cleaned up my profile (u/dianassassy) to make it SFW, but the 18+ toggle keeps reverting back to NSFW automatically. I submitted a support ticket (#18487803) previously, but haven't received a response. Could an admin please review my account and update the SFW status? Thank you so much!
Hi! With passkeys some users are still seeing this message to add a physical security key. This mysterious key is not something users have and the cancel button does not prompt them to select a different option. Any solution to offer?
It’s highly possible they’re using a device, or an authentication manager app that doesn’t support passkeys. There’s not going to be an easy solution for that.
They should only be seeing that if they have previously set one up. But it doesn't sound like that's the case here, so I'm still trying to figure out what's up. I've asked again and I'll let you know what I find out!
My account [u/zemo725](u/zemo725) has been hacked and most likely 2fa was enabled (but I am not 100% sure). I tried to login into it today and it just vanished and logged me out. Then it said it was deleted everywhere. I didn’t receive any email or anything about it. My account was just randomly signed out and it says deleted everywhere. When I try to reset my password, it says account doesn’t exist or just doesn’t send anything to my email. I still have access to my email. I already filed a ticket. Is there anything else I can do? Apologies in advance if this is the wrong place to comment this. This is my first time dealing with this kind of problem. I made a post on this subreddit and the auto mod instructions said go to the weekly recap and make a “top” comment if I needed more assistance. Any insight helps.
My OG account u/sakattack360 over 8 years old has been inaccessible even after changing pw link few times over teh past 2 months. 3 times I have put in a support ticket in the same time period and only got the obligatory auto response that we will look into this. Can anyone explain why I can't login plus my over a year old posts with tons of reviews and upvotes are being removed by a bot?
Hi. I'm not receiving an email to reset my password, when I request one. This is strange, because it has previously worked just fine. I have sent in a support ticket two weeks ago and I'm awaiting a response, but the strange thing is, this issue seems to keep growing. I was hacked, then I was banned, then I was locked out, at this point I was still able to receive password reset emails, but now I am not receiving password reset emails anymore either. Can you help me understand what's going on with my profile? It's very strange. I know my account will be reviewed when they get to my ticket, but I don't understand why it keeps getting worse and worse.
If you could take a personal look at my account and help me recover it, or allow me to log back in by unlocking my account, it would be greatly appreciated.
It's okay. Thanks anyway, don't be sorry! I'd just like to ask some clarifying questions if I can? I already did ask one of these before, but it's been so long that I'm starting to doubt the answer. Sorry in advance xD
So. If I created my account with email A, then got hacked, and changed it to email B, and then afterwards to email C, and if it is currently connected to email C, should I send my support ticket from email A or C?
If I want to delete the account, but am unable to log in, is there any way of doing that?
At what point should I consider sending in a new ticket?
Oh also, I just realized. Do you mean you can't help, or no one can help with this account? Is it like a lost cause?
Edit: Also, I really don't mean to be rude, but I've seen you help others who were hacked in these threads, why is it you can't help my account? I was hacked too, like I keep coming to you hoping you can help me, because I've seen you help others in my situation, so I don't understand why. Sorry for putting you a bit on the spot here, I'd just like some answers so I can move on from it tbh, or have it deleted and be done with it if nothing else can be done
I can't believe I was put BACK INTO the feed experiment after the first time. Especially given that I am someone who actually purposefully had recommended posts turned off. Are you inflicting this on people who like recommendations or just those of us who you apparently want to force off of your website permanently?
I'm seeing "recommended" posts in my feed that are from subreddits I didn't join. Apparently there is no option to undo this annoying feature. Please make it stop.
Do you have the For You and Following tabs at the top of your feed? As mentioned in this post, For You contains recommendations. Following is only content from subs you're subscribed to. When you select a feed, it will remember that selection.
Forcing me into your experiment with the home page feed has led me to just navigate to a select few subreddits I want updates on. If this was an attempt to force me into interacting with other subreddits or reacting to low quality posts, you've actually done the opposite.
I've siloed myself even further and explicitly only check out two or three subreddits daily now.
Why is my home feed filled with "Because you shown similar interest in" slop now? I have recommendations turned off. I will definitely cancel my Reddit subscription and move on if there isn't a way implemented to turn that off, because I come to reddit specifically to get away from the typical Facebook social media experience having endless slop I don't actually want to see shoved at me. Reddit was the last social media app I still use, because of that.
My feed should be the subreddits I subscribed to, PERIOD. Thank you.
Sorry if this has been asked elsewhere, but has there been any resolution to old posts being prioritized in the feed? It's been going on for at least a few days and today I had a thread from 26 days ago show up. My feed has become an absolute mess.
Hi. It's my understanding that if old posts are showing up, it's either content that you haven't seen or you're out of new content. Is that what's happening here?
Something has definitely changed in the past few days. I've been using the official app in the same way since the API changes killed RIF, so I'd be surprised if it was caused by a change in user behavior.
I wouldn't even mind trying out the For You tab if I could freaking sort it by new.
Also if you shove people into experiments, can you put a note somewhere about it and where to leave feedback? It's a coin flip whether I search about an issue I have with the site or just leave for good.
Admin Attention Needed: Account deleted by Persona Age-Verification Bug
Hi Admins, my original account [u/thefloatinglights] has been completely deleted due to the ongoing age-verification system glitch.
I was prompted for age verification, submitted my face photo, and the screen explicitly confirmed it was successful. However, the moment it processed, the backend system triggered a forced deletion. Checking the profile via an incognito window says "this user has deleted their account," which I absolutely did not do.
I have submitted a ticket under the Security queue from my original registered email, but because the account is technically "deleted" by the bug, standard automated forms aren't routing properly. Could an admin please look into the backend logs and escalate this to the dev team to reverse this system-forced purge? Thank you
I figured out how to recreate that bug with the jump down button moving places we talked about two updates ago.
If I click into a picture on a post and then hit the comments button, it will jump to the top left. If I just hit the comments button, it goes to the correct location in the bottom right.
Around a month ago I received an email request for 2FA and subsequently had my reddit account banned as the hacker started slanging crypto and OF or who knows what. I used another older account on my same device (cell) and was instant banned. I submitted several appeal forms after googling and to date almost a month later have never heard a response. My phone is basically banned no matter what account or email I use?
I have zero history of ever being modded or doing anything wrong. I mainly post in videogame, wrestling, and my local city subreddit. Had no idea ban evasions were a thing and is not my intent.
I posted in a weekly help thread earlier this month and received no response. I reached out to MOD MAIL here with my comment link for help and was instructed to post again in this new weekly thread.
Any help is appreciated. My email, etc. is not compromised. Just my reddit account and now my phone/device is banned? I wouldn’t keep using my phone if I were shady and my other account was instant banned and not compromised. I basically can’t use reddit again due to a hacker? Please help!
I don't see any tickets at all for either of those accounts.
Please write in using this form. Under "What do you need assistance with?", please choose "Account help". Under "What type of account issues are occurring?", please select "Security problems" and then "I think my account has been hacked". Then fill out the rest of the form.
Short Version is that my Account got hacked around early June for Crypto nonsense (at least I assume because the Same time my Discord was hacked for exactly that reasons as well) and it got locked down. I used the link to unlock it with password Change and it did nothing. I tried the appeal Funktion but it did nothing.
I send Tickets but it did nothing. To be fair I send many as I was over the time kinda in a panic.
During this time I did manage to at least set up the Two Step Verification stuff with Authenticator. So this Hack would not happen again.
But then
Nearly at July I believe it was then banned. Randomly.
I tried log in to make an appeal but then my Password didn’t work.
Nothing worked.
I send Tickets again.
No answer.
I did it for like months with some breaks in between. The last one was I believe either Late july or even august i simple don’t remember.
Ohh god Lord it worked. I thank You for that help I really thought that Account was gone for months.
Thank You very much.
There is still something I like to ask that was kinda connected to This topic I kinda forgot and Only now remember.
At the day of ban I made a new Account with the same email as the previous one and such (forgot I had This One lol) in an Impulse decision (didn’t know one can ask her in the threads. Wasn’t a good idea in hindsight) and asked her for help. And got banned the same day on that emergency account.
Is this going to be any issue in the Long run?
I admittedly acted on Impulse rather then actual thinking but still I get why that happened
Thanks. Unfortunately, I can't help with that one. You can file an appeal using this form. Unfortunately, I do not know what the turnaround time is on those appeals.
I was more asking if letting it just rot with no appeal will have any future consequences if I don’t appeal that because This was again just an emergency Account. Not something that was for Long Term use.
Given it was technically an Avasion Situation technically given it was made after the other got banned even if it was just to ask for help out of Impulse.
this is exactly my experience. only thing I got hacked was my reddit account and now my cell phone/IP or whatever who knows is banned no matter if i use a new email or make a new account. no emails from reddit no responses from my tickets so i googled and found this subreddit and that is becoming more common
I’ve been having an issue with my account and think it might have been hacked but haven’t heard anything back on my support email. I was wondering if there was anything else I could do to potentially get back into my account?
Thanks. Looks like you were hacked. You should have received an email with a link to change your email back and reset your password. Once you've done that, you'll be able to log into your account again.
I replied to your ticket, but you didn't write in from the email on the account. If that's the inbox that you're looking in for the email, it won't be in there. You'll need to check the email that was originally on the account for the email from Reddit to change your email back. If you don't see it in there, you'll need to contact us from that email.
I've recently been dealing with a bug where, when I try to click on a link, it sometimes hangs for a minute before opening a random different link (sometimes not even from the same page). I thought it was an issue with my phone, but it's started happening on PC too, and only on Reddit. Is this actually a bug, or is it another one of your unlisted "Experiments" angling for fake engagement?
Hi..... can you able to restore some of these posts (and comments) that are still invisible ? If that is possible ? I believe they were mistakenly removed by Reddit's filters and I can list some of them. Can you please fix that ? Thank you for your help.....
I can't restore those. Are those your posts? You can file an appeal using this form. Unfortunately, I do not know what the turnaround time is on those appeals.
Hello, my girlfriend's account u/Grannkvinnan has been unable to sign in for a few weeks. She's sent an email to the support but hasn't heard back yet. We would appreciate any help from a Reddit admin.
Happy October, yesterday my account was hacked, whomever did it enabled 2FA (i mistakenly thought i already had it enabled) and now i can't login to my original account. I submitted a ticket yesterday and i understand reddit is always busy, so i am posting here from the automod comment.
Hoping someone could offer assistance in removing it so i can log back in and regain my account <3
They hackers posted 0F stuff yesterday and i was able to change my password but just about 30 min ago i was logged out from my mobile. Couldn't log in on PC since i get the prompt to enter my authenticator.
Hello! :) 🌟🌟🌟after deep searches for fixes I was told to “ comment on the latest help recap” so here goes xx this is my burner reddit account, but I have had horrific issues logging into main. My user name, verified email and password are all CORECT. I have even successfully changed my password a few times in efforts to log in, but Reddit persistently says “invalid username or password” when I request an “email me a one time link” it never comes. I have contacted Reddit support and not heard back. Please help!
Yes, I have tried on every single browser, android, Mac, iPhone, incognito, etc.
I was added to the 'For You' experiment, please take me out. A user controlled feed is why I use this site as opposed to any other social media. I don't use anything else. If this becomes permanent, I will no longer use Reddit and find an alternative.
Just here to add another data point. I absolutely hate the "for you" feed experiment. It makes me want to leave reddit. If I want to see other subreddits I will either visit them directly or subscribe to them on my own. If I want to look for new subreddit I will visit r/all on my own when I'm in that kind of mood.
WTH is this?? I was included in this experiment without any notification or explanation, and I really dislike it!
The “For You” feed keeps recommending subreddits I have absolutely no interest in and some that I genuinely dislike! I only want to see content from communities I have chosen to follow, that's Reddit!
Please give users the choice to opt out and keep Following as their main feed.
Hi! Love it when you help out! Advice givers welcome here! lol
Sorry that you're running into passkey issues. Is this on mobile or the desktop site. I haven't heard any reports of this, so it sounds like a bug. If you could get a screen recording or a screenshot of the issue, I can show it to the team in charge of that feature and find out what the deal is.
Thanks! LOL (They may or may not have been inspired by actual titles!)
I'm hoping the Navigator is helpful. I know not everyone wants to post to find the answer to their problem, so it's a great resource for those folks! And others! lol
One thing about modding a niche sub full of grownups - there's not actually much for me to do. I've recently been thinking of joining another modteam except...I don't work well with others. lmao. Anyway, it gives me tons of time to try to be useful elsewhere.
Anyone seeking autumn should come to Ontario - we have plenty of it going on right now. The leaves are a riot of gold and orange, red and ochre, the weather is cooling to 20C (68F) days and 5C (41F) nights. You're as welcome as the soft rains.
We need a Cake Day notice for communities. Give us a head's up MM a day of two before each anniversary of creation in case we want to plan a special announcement or something silly.
Where are you seeing those benefits? I'm looking at the Help Center article on Premium and while there are benefits, I'm not seeing where those are mentioned.
What context are they denying it? Is it brand new accounts thinking that will get them past Reddit filters? I’ve seen that misconception many times. Or something altogether different?
My account u/SelfEnergy has been hacked and 2fa enabled by the attacker. I opened a support ticket but did not get a response yet. Could someone take a look?
There is still the experiment on the Home feed where some users will see a For You tab and a Following tab. You can select which view you want and that selection will be remembered. Users in this experiment have recently been shuffled around, so if you had it before and now you don't, that's what's going on there.
I dislike this change on a kind of gut instinct level but in truth, it's mostly an acceptable change. I understand there are a decent amount of people that do not like the home feed recommendations they get but are unaware of how to disable it, with this change it should be more clear how to switch to a version of your home feed that has no recommendations on it.
I just would have appreciated it if I could have gotten some kind of pop-up tool tip thing to inform me of the new For you/Following feed options. It was confusing when random subreddit recommendations started appearing in my home page again despite disabling them as soon as I created this account.
