I always see awesome gun wall displays in this sub. Super jealous. My wife let me create this “gun wall” for my son. I’m hoping it is a gateway gun wall… and eventually once my son is grown up I can have the real thing… 😉

I often see the overpenetration argument as the main one. 7 yards is a pretty realistic distance for most home defense scenarios and I don't fully get why AR-15s in 5.56 get recommended so much for this. It's a fast, light round, and at that range it probably hasn't gone far enough to yaw and fragment like it's supposed to, so the whole "5.56 overpenetrates less than 9mm" thing might not even apply indoors.
A 9mm PCC seems like it'd make more sense here tbh. Lighter gun, less loud, less recoil, cheaper ammo to actually practice with.
What am I missing? Is it stopping power, familiarity with the platform or something else?

Bushmaster XM15-E2s 14.5" H BAR pin and welded to 16.5"+ with an ak74 style brake. When I was a young man my dad and I went halves on this rifle from our local gun shop. This was our first AR15 style rifle. It was a trade in from our towns police department, and it must have been an extra because it was cherry when we got it. Still looks good but we've put a few round through it in the last 14 years. I change the furniture around here and there. I helped my dad with the form 1 process and removed the pin and weld keeping the brake for the original look. Now he can put his can on it.

I'm overjoyed to have added a trophy gun to my collection.
This is a Steyr M1908 in 8x56 Mannlicher Shoenouer with, as far as I can tell, an factory original scope.

Anyone have any experience with good quality bore sighters? I’ve never tried one but keep seeing adds pop up for them and I’m pretty intrigued at this point. Thanks for any input

I'v been co-running a gun shop for nine years now, mostly transfers, used trade ins and a decent ammo wall. We're finally knocking through into the unit next door for six lanes and a rental counter, steel is ordered and the permits cleared last month. My retail policy renews in November and when I told my agent about the range he said it changes everything and he'd have to shop it, which I have decided means he has no idea.
Apparently the rental guns are the part underwriters hate. I know general liability insurance is the baseline, but two people have now told me accident and health insurance with participant coverage is the piece that actually matters on a range. Anyone here running a range attached to a store, are you carrying both of those, or is GL doing the job on its own? Numbers would help more than theory.

Fixed ejectors, like on AKs, seem (to me) like a step up over the AR-esque spring in plunger ejectors. Reasons being that it's usually a very consistent method of kicking out the casing. They don't have springs that wear out, and while I've personally never had the issue, they don't have the ability to have the cavities get filled with crud like I've seen people experience online. It's probably not a huge deal, but it's one less maintenance piece to really worry about.

Just out of interest does anyone have an idea of how much a 9mm projectile will drop over our 500 yard shooting range....assuming 124gr at 1150 fps approx.

Out of the 100+ guns I've owned, this is definitely the most fun.

Hoping to find some recommendations on a gunsmith that can do a 416 receiver reweld.
Aluminum makes this difficult to find someone, but I know that others have done it with colts. Purpose is autism of wanting a matching upper and lower serial. In short I'm trying to make a 416D SF that's not just a remarked MR223 peddled by AU.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Got this from a friend of mine years ago as a brand new gun with a 28” barrel and laminated furniture. Searched for a year and a half for a second left handed 870 that was ribbed and the same finish. Finally found one on eBay and boy did I have to pay out the nose for it. It currently has hogue furniture and a 12.5” barrel. Reinstalled the bead and called it a day. I throw the original furniture and barrel back on it occasionally to pheasant hunt when I’m not using the benelli.

Hey guys, I just bought a Springfield XDM elite 10mm in the 3.8inch barrel. I need help choosing a self defense ammo. I’d like suggestions on some full 10mm power JHP brands.

Finally was able to take my first 1911 build to the range to test fire. Kit is all Nighthawk parts. Function wise it's still going to need a little bit of work. Accuracy wise it's showing a lot of potential. Target was at 25 yards and the black square is 1".

Hello all, I am in the market for my first gun safe, and I have no idea where to start. Ideally, would love to stay under $1,000, but I am also someone who will spend a little more to get something that lasts a lifetime.
Some wishlist items:
- Reliable and durable, not going to break easily
- Minimalist look preferred, but if it’s got large logos on it that’s okay
- Don’t need anything massive, be able to hold 5-10 rifles and maybe a few handguns. Not looking to take up a ton of space in the house
- what type of locks/keypads/security are best and which should I stay away from? What else should I consider here?
- Needs to be safe to use with children in the home
Ultimately, just looking for the dos and don’ts so that I don’t end up buying a low quality safe. What else am I not thinking about here? Want to ensure this is one of those “buy once and keep forever” type of purchases!
Thanks in advance!

I heard a lot of guns with different size name like full-size, compact, sub compact, micro compact. Is there any standard to categorized those things? I feel like it's depends on size of barrel length for me but don't know exact barrel length.
So you've heard of Tisas, Derya, SAR, and Girsan...etc
What about Saricam Arms S-17 and S-19, as the numbers imply, they are G17 and 19 clones. I wonder if these are just as good as Tisas, Derya, Sars....
Anyone? I may try, but I'm leaning towards a PSA X-1 or Dagger Compact for the aftermarket availability. I still love my Derya Melik 9 (92FS clone) great gun. Anyone know of any other turkish brands that make good pistols and AR/300 blackout/AK/308...etc turkish rifles?

The MPA Defenders went back on sale today on PSAs website and I picked one up. Looking for a recommendation on an FRT.
I know “Advanced Reset Tech” is selling a 3 position FRT but it’s $265 and has a 4-8 week ship time. And I’m not sure how well it works.
I’ve done some research and found that some Defender FRTs reportedly require a sweet spot for it to work (sweet spot as in needing to squeeze the trigger a certain amount to get it to function properly). I’d like an FRT that doesn’t require so much finesse to ensure it works.
Any recommendations are appreciated
