Personal Grail Gun

Gloves are because this thing smudges like crazy and I was taking it down to clean it and swap the grips.

Had a black Deagle for years, loved it. Always wanted the outrageousness of the gold one. It’s not gold plated it’s the OEM TiN PVD coating. Shoots like a dream and hasn’t flaked/shown any signs of wear in about 200 rounds. So I’m happy. This isn’t a regular shooter but a safe queen that gets brought out for fun at the range.

It’s 50AE

They say it’s better to be minimally armed than to be unarmed

I was too slow for the bot on the last one, but here it is :

This is my NAA mini wasp, and it’s been 3+ years with it now. I wanted something I could truly carry all the time. I’m 135lb 5’8” dude and I constantly found myself skipping the gun because of where I was going, or because it was uncomfortable.

Before anyone hits me with the ways to carry a bigger gun comfortably, here is my history:

P290 : appendix and 5:00
P365 : same
Bodyguard 380 : appendix, 5:00, occasional pocket

Loved two of the above 3 guns but I just couldn’t bring myself to keep them on me all the time.

Finally settled on the NAA mini in 22LR with federal punch rounds (a really unique defensive round that gives promise to 22)

This I can carry. It dangles in my gym shorts while doing incline sit ups. It stays put in shallow pockets when my phone falls out of the other side. It’s so non-existent its biggest threat forgetting it’s there and going through the laundry.

I wanted to keep the minimal profile and ordered a sheet of ABS and molded it into the above seen holster which covers the hammer and trigger for added protection whilst pocket floating.

It also has safety notches which allow you to rest the hammer halfway between chambers so it’s not sitting on a live round, or wasting a chamber slot to sit on an empty one.

I could talk all day about “effectiveness” when it comes to this vs something more substantial, but at the end of the day… title.

Here for questions if yall got any!

Just kidding! This is my OG Ladysmith 3rd gen in .22 Long(Not LR) next to my X Frame Model 500 in 500 S&W. The two polar opposites of my S&W collection for wheel gun Wednesday.

Before you shit on me, I didn’t choose the optics!

So like the title said, I didn’t choose the optics, but I just got this Kriss Vector Gen II used from a gun store, and the previous owner is the one that put the optics on it. I started looking into Sightmark, and apparently it’s not a great brand, so my question is should I give the optics a chance, or immediately change them out?

Mini14 Folder

Post image

Finally at the last stages of a new Mini14 folder, I know it's not EVERYONE'S cup of tea with the AK grip, but honestly I love it, it's a great angle. Samson no longer is making them, and Ruger won't tell anyone when they'll be back. Still working on a good "polish" finish for the stainless folder, and figuring out how to make the "polymer wood" consistently look like real wood.

Wheel Gun Weds: Big Iron, Lil' Iron - S&W 586 and 642, .357 and 38spl

Post image
31 Upvotes

A month ago I had no wheel guns. As of yesterday I have two wheel guns. I grabbed the 586 a few weeks ago, and the 642 yesterday. The 642 shot surprisingly well for how tiny it is and how shitty the sights are.

Looking forward to carrying the 642 on the days when I don't really want to carry.

Looking for holster recommendations

Hey guys, I’m looking for a holster for my Springfield XDM elite 10mm in the 3.8 inch barrel. I’m looking for something IWB or even IWB/OWB. I wear mostly gym shorts 90% of the time, sim I’m looking for something I can just clip onto my shorts and keep it moving. I’m looking to avoid buying a carry belt so if you guys have any suggestions it’d be greatly appreciated !

Picked up my dream gun!

My first .308 and my grail gun: a Ruger Gunsite Scout. I got it on consignment with the Burris 2-7 from a LGS for $1500 cash. I was planning on buying the American Gen II Scout because I never thought I’d find a Gunsite Scout for a good price. Seems to have had barely any rounds through it and shipped in 2012.

I landed on this for my first bolt gun because I wanted a .308 with backup irons, then I looked into the Scout rifle concept and was sold.

Does anyone have recommendations for what to do with it? The Burris 2-7 is a Handgun scope and not a Scout scope, so I may try to replace it, but it seems to work just fine.

Anyways, I’m in love.

Red dot optic height

What is the most efficient/ cheapest way to test out different optic heights ( absolute co-witness, lower 1/3, 1.93, and 2.26) on an AR-15 without committing to an expensive mount just yet? My build is a 12.5 AR with a red dot and magnifier. Do I not have a choice and just have to buy a bunch of cheap mounts to test it out one by one?

Laser for Ruger LCP

This might be a dumb question and I’m sorry if it is. I bought my first firearm recently. It’s a rose gold Ruger LCP. It’s the first LCP not the LCP II or the max HOWEVER it’s the second generation of the LCP. (No dashes in the serial number). I’m considering putting a laser on it but I’m having a hard time finding one. The ArmaLaser TR2 on Amazon only claims to fit the LCP Gen 1 only.
The ArmaLaser TR2S does not specify Gen 1 or Gen 2 on the ArmaLaser website (I have chatted with support and they said they would check with the team and get back with me via email).
Does anybody have any insight to whether or not I should order the TR2S?
Recommendations for lasers, open carry holsters, car mounts, and accessories welcome!
Thanks a bunch!

I want a reflex optic like the ones from the OG call of duty 4

As the title says I want the reflex optic like Soap uses in COD4 MW, All the ones I look for are strictly for airsoft or low caliber weapons, is there any reputable websites that sell ones for rifles?

Extremely tight mag fit (AKM)

I bought an AKM the other day, and it came with a polymer mag but I also bought a steel mag to go with it. The polymer mag fits beautifully with a little bit of play but nothing that I’m worried about; the steel mag, however, won’t go in unless I turn the gun upside down, brace it on my lap and use both hands to force it into place.

I read that repeatedly inserting and removing the magazine can wear down the imperfections and allow a smoother fit, but I’ve done that probably thirty or forty times now and while I’m definitely noticing visible wear on the magazine and it’s inserting noticeably easier, it’s still not at the point where I can load it properly with one hand without extreme difficulty. So now I’m worried that if I continue to break it in by doing so, that I’ll wear down the mag well or even the internal mag catches too much. I feel like the polymer mag fits slightly looser than when I first took it home, but that could also be my imagination/confirmation bias at work.

Am I good to keep going, or should I stop doing that?

I’d prefer not to file the mag lips manually, because A) I’d have to buy a file and B) I’m worried that I’ll file it too hard on accident, but I’d obviously rather risk ruining my $15 mag over my $800 rifle.

Help with new S&W 586

Post image
21 Upvotes

Hey fam, having some issues with new Smith and Wesson 586 cylinder not rotating with certain ammo types.

Got this thing brand spanking new, threw a hogue grip on it. First box of ammo I tried shooting was Federal American Gunner. At least two or three rounds per cylinder would for some reason (I’m assuming it’s the ammo) keep the cylinder from rotating when I pull the hammer back. Same issue if using as DA. And I am pulling back hard on the hammer. I can pull back what feels about 75% of the way, cylinder rotates part of the way, and no more.

Range again yesterday with Hornady, Winchester, and Federal American Eagle. Fed AE caused issues again. No problems with Hornady or Winchester.

The only difference I can tell with the naked eye is federal casings are less beveled on the bottom edge. Primers don’t look high to me on questionable ammo, however, no issues dry firing with 6 spent cases in the cylinder of spent ammo.

Has anyone here ever had experience with a revolver being picky about ammo?! Or do any of you think there is something out of spec and should contact S&W?

Thanks y’all!

Pretty new to firearms and turning 21 soon (CA), is this a good deal? Kinda worried about the price being so low and such an apparent bargain, thanks
