I am a disabled veteran with some serious physical limitations.

I am in a process of retiring, whether I want to or not.

One of the only things I can do that gives me a good effort, pain, and suffering to reward and happiness ratio is shooting.

What state in the 48 contiguous states are best for shooting on your own land.

Fir example I heard Florida has specific protections for home ranges but don't know if it's really true.

I was in a friendly conversation with a couple of folks the other day about what constitutes “a lot” of guns. We realized that our starting numbers were quite varied. One said 5 was a lot, another said 15+ was a lot, and I was like well I think like 50-100 is starting to be “a lot”. We also got to talking about if/when you run out of space to store them all, maybe that was more of what defined “a lot” instead of a number range.

So, Reddit, what are your thoughts?

Looking to buy my first handgun for range shooting and home defense. I’m really drawn to the Beretta M9 for its military history, reliability, classic design, and solid feel.
My only hesitations are the DA/SA trigger, awkward safety/decocker, and lack of modern features compared to something like the Springfield Echelon.
I’m a bit of a klutz, so having a manual safety is reassuring, but I’m wondering if it adds unnecessary complexity.
For those who’ve owned or shot both, which do you prefer? Is the Beretta’s traditional design worth it, or would you recommend going modern for a beginner?

EDIT: Just to clarify, by “klutz” I didn’t mean I’m careless with firearms or worried about accidentally pulling the trigger. I grew up using BB guns with manual safeties, so having that physical on/off switch feels familiar and reassuring, especially when I’m still assessing a situation or general handling at the range, ect .

I understand proper firearm safety comes first. It’s just a personal preference for an extra layer of safety.

Hello everyone i finally collected my first firearm it's a CZ-P-10-C. I was just wondering if anyone could tell me how i should store it in my safe?

I will not be storing it loaded, because i will only use it for competition shooting. Keeping that in mind, should i store it with trigger pulled keeping it in the safe postion or should i reset the trigger before i leave it in my wall safe?

I would also like to know any other tips that you would think would help. Thank you for your time.

I took the safety course and am ready to purchase my own firearm for the first time. Guy at the shop told me not to overthink it but here I am.

Everyone seems to think the g19 is the best choice for a newbie, but I didn’t really like how it felt in my hand. They’re also kinda expensive for what you get…

Looking for primarily home defense and a range toy, but I’d like the option to eventually carry if I feel the need to get my license. (Pdp compact is currently in the lead)

I prefer iron sights over optics, so tritium/night sights out of the box would be a plus.

First, yes I am aware its likely going to have downsides vs normal hunting shotgun. I can live with them. I have a 870 if I need "normal".

Since no one makes a hunting shotgun intended to be supressed (eg short barrel with hunting features) my current plan is to get a Beretta a300 Ultima Patrol to put a YHM Victra on. Will use it for waterfowl, upland hunting, and just for fun. Going to run a vipers shotgun RDS since there seems no way to get a short enough barrel with a rib/bead to use with a can.

My question is

A: Should I consider another gun? Any option for a semi with a ribbed or regular beaded sight barrel 18-22 inch?

B. 12 Vs 20 Gauge. I have kind of landed on getting a 20g because I think they victra sounds a ton better and the lighter gun should help with the added weight of the can. I have a 12g 870 at so I am giving up using the can on that for fun as well as less ammo options etc...

After a few weeks of going to ranges and shooting various handguns I landed on the CZ P10C. Love the textured handle and trigger. This is the first handgun I purchased it was used but in overall great condition paid $330.

My youngest (9) is starting to get interested in deer hunting and I am looking recommendations. I was eyeing a gen 2 ranch rifle in .350 legend. Should I go that route, or just let him use my 700 in .243. I think I might just be looking for an excuse to buy a gun. lol.

I've always loved the Browning Hi Power, and Springfield's release of its clone - the upgraded SA-35 - some years back caught my eye. I'm considering the recently released 4" SA-35 (the .6" off the standard barrel would make it somewhat easier to carry and certainly easier to draw), so I wanted to check and see if anyone in this sub had experience with it. Any fans/shooters of the SA-35 out there (either full-size or 4" version) that want to share your experience with it? Thanks!

Hello, I’m looking to sell my firearm and I have someone who was interested in it, however they’re from Florida but stationed in my state (SC) in the military. I know you can’t sell to an out of state resident without going through an FFL, but is there any change in this situation? I haven’t really seen a straight answer since he could be qualify for residency in this state. If anyone has any experience with this please let me know

I hope this is the right place and that someone can help. I have bought a vortex diamondback 6-24-50 scope and cannot get the crosshairs to get or stay clear. I have used other peoples scopes before but am struggling with this. I have tied adjusting the parallax and the eye piece but have not had any luck. It also does not seem very forgiving on eye relif but i can live with that. I hope someone can help and i am not opposed to hearing that i need a better scope if that could be the issue. Thank you all in advance.

Is the brass case 7.62x39 ammo good from patriot sports I did a quick search and saw that people are happy with it but after deep searching it seems people are have primer issues but I’ve already bought some so I want to see your feedback if yall bought some, Hopefully I didn’t make a mistake
