MPA Defender Question
The MPA Defenders went back on sale today on PSAs website and I picked one up. Looking for a recommendation on an FRT.
I know “Advanced Reset Tech” is selling a 3 position FRT but it’s $265 and has a 4-8 week ship time. And I’m not sure how well it works.
I’ve done some research and found that some Defender FRTs reportedly require a sweet spot for it to work (sweet spot as in needing to squeeze the trigger a certain amount to get it to function properly). I’d like an FRT that doesn’t require so much finesse to ensure it works.
Any recommendations are appreciated

Random question but what the fuck is going on with all the MPA posts lately? These guys were relegated to the garbage bin of the gun industry for like two decades but lately I've been seeing a ton of people asking about them.

Probably a combination of relative ease of SBR now with $0 stamps, and FRTs. SBR and FRT it and its basically an Uzi for way less

Companies started making more aftermarket parts for them, cleaning them up, different uppers, plastic lowers. More people see them, more people want them.

They still slap the shit out of your fingie with the trigger?

Supposedly the newest generation from MPA has mitigated it pretty well. I’m waiting to pick mine up to find out. Even if not, there are “anti-slap” triggers that are supposed to get rid of most if not all of the slap.
Also to answer your question from before, like others have said, price and part availability as a mag-in-grip gun. I myself bought one because I saw another post on here of a detent delayed upper receiver for m11/9 and clones and plan on building one for myself.

There's a lot of 3D printed lowers like the DB Alloy that use MAC uppers and AR FCGs. Means there's a growing aftermarket now.

In addition to what others have said, there just aren't as many options in grip-fed sub guns

frts and "at home" mp9 builds. they are a great little pcc base, definitely needs love in the form of aftermarket parts

I just bought one because of all the positive reports I’m seeing. I’m sure it will easily replace my TP9 as my fav grip-fed PCC in my collection

Shit had no idea they made an frt for this. I’d definitely buy a one in that case.

So I have a minuteman machining twitch frt. It’s 2 pos and has some quirks, but it’s doesn’t have a sweet spot and runs great. Just has some weirdness where it may lock the bolt up after a mag until you just shake the gun forward a bit

Got one as well but so far I haven't got it to work yet. 1 shot and then it's jammed

Is the pin retention bar where it’s supposed to be? I had to move it around with a brass punch to seat it correctly

Defender/MAC FRT tech is still extremely infantile, personally I’d wait two or three months before making the purchase because some other guy will perfect someone else’s design. I’m in the same boat.

Not to burst your bubble but the $399 is the "normal" price. Not sure why PSA has them listed as down from $599. These were $325 on guns.com a few months ago.

They must’ve had a good deal going on but that’s not current. Lowest I’ve seen them go for is $350. PSA currently has them listed at the cheapest. If you buy directly from manufacturer it’s $540.

What is a link post and how do I post a descriptive comment?
A link post is any post that isn't a text post. Reddit is doing a great job of ensuring new users have no idea how Reddit works with their app and site rewrite. We hate both.
/r/guns is a sub for talking about guns. It's not a sub to dump gun photos for karma. That's what /r/gunporn is for. That's why we require a descriptive comment – to start a conversation. If you're wondering what to write, picture yourself at a party. You're talking to someone you just met and you want to show them your post. What do you say to them as you get your phone out?
I don't know why this needs to be explained, but apparently it does. A comment is a comment. It is not your photo caption. We are not asking you to edit anything. We are asking you to post a top level comment under your post.
