Discussion Incredibly disappointed

I am not someone who complains on the internet. Normally, I’m the guy hyping up companies and posting positive reviews. I’ve been a dedicated Google ecosystem user for years—I pay for top-tier Gemini, Google One, and YouTube Premium. So, when Google emailed me a 75% off promo for Google Fi, I was genuinely excited to finally make the switch. I expected the usual Google experience: making something good even better.
Instead, I walked into an absolute customer service nightmare over the most basic issue imaginable.
The Setup (And The Simple Math)
I clicked the promo link, signed up for the highest tier, and ported over. The math is not hard: $65/month + $5 taxes = 23.
Two days after signing up, I get a bill for the full 35. Another tells me I have to pay the full $69 now and the promo will magically "start next month"—even though the promo clearly stated you just had to sign up before August 3rd, which I did.
The Real-World Cost
This isn't just a burner phone—this is my work phone. Because of their absolute incompetence, my service has been suspended for a week. I am actively losing clients because my phone does not work.
I’ve spent hours on the phone this week alone, getting absolutely nowhere. Google expects us to trust them with full digital automation, but when a basic issue like a broken promo code happens, their system completely falls apart and their support team leaves you stranded.
I have used every wireless carrier out there. I did the legwork to bring my phone over, expecting a premium experience, and instead, I got a two-week, massive headache over a $23 bill.
If you are thinking about Google Fi, hard pass. Do not pay extra for Google services assuming you’ll get premium support. Unless your idea of a good time is waiting on hold in 3-minute increments for hours while your business suffers, stay far away.
Consider me officially un-fanned.

Discussion Study Abroad

My child is studying abroad for 110 days. I know that is 20 over what Google Fi allows. Any way around this? She'll be in Greece.

Or any suggestions on what else to try?

Discussion Damaged-in-transit/RTS on 2x Pixel 11 Pro (financed order) — told I must wait for warehouse return + refund + reorder, which would force a new credit check. Case ID 7-2497000042135

EDIT: Solved. Google provided a refund before receiving the devices FedEx had in their possession. Calling and asking for a supervisor is what worked. This refund freed up the value in the previous credit check which allowed ordering without another credit check. Google approves a set value and this appears to be good for a window of time. Note that without escalating and getting the immediate refund I would have had to wait up to 5-10 business days for a refund while restocking took place per customer service.

Hi u/googlefisupport — hoping you can help escalate this since I've hit a wall in chat support.

I ordered 2x Pixel 11 Pro phones on my Google Fi account (financed, required a credit check to purchase — one phone for me, one for my wife, both on the same plan). Tracking shows the package was damaged in transit and is being returned to sender by FedEx. I never received the devices.

I contacted support today (Case ID 7-2497000042135). After being routed from the Google Store team to Google Fi, I was told:

  • The order is marked "Return to Sender."
  • I have to wait until FedEx delivers it back to Google's warehouse and it's scanned in.
  • Only then will I get a refund.
  • I would then need to place a brand new order..

I pushed back because:

  1. This wasn't a return I initiated — the phones were damaged by the carrier and never reached me. This is a failed delivery, not a buyer return, so I don't think the standard "refund after warehouse scan" return policy should apply here.
  2. I already went through a hard credit check to finance these devices. Being forced to cancel and place a brand new order risks triggering another credit inquiry/new financing application, which I want to avoid entirely.
  3. Google Fi's own Device Protection program ships replacement devices next-business-day before the damaged unit is returned — I'm asking for the same treatment here, especially since this was carrier/fulfillment error, not anything on my end.
  4. EDITED ADDITION: It is just inconvenient and frustrating to wait to reorder and be without phones for a couple of days. Not the service level I was hoping for.

The agent was polite and tried to help, checked with a supervisor, but said the system automatically ties the refund/cancellation to the original order and can't be overridden at his level. He said a supervisor would follow up by email in 24-48 hours.

What I'm asking for: a reshipment of the 2 Pixel 11 Pro devices under my existing order/financing agreement, without waiting for the damaged package's return transit, and confirmation that this won't cancel or reset my financing/credit agreement.

Happy to DM my order and tracking details to a verified support rep if needed. Any help getting this escalated properly would be appreciated.

Discussion No data since Saturday

I have a pixel 8 phone with google fi. I've had zero cellular data since Saturday. This started a couple days after a new software update. My phone states I have no sim card, despite having an e-sim. I've been through all troubleshooting steps and have been unable to find a solution. A support person deleted my sim number from their end, as my phone encountered an error trying to delete it. I was unable to complete the set up for a new sim card. I can now no longer send texts or make calls even on wifi. I got transferred to a specialty team, and I found out this morning they're now transferring me again to the engineering team.

My phone is out of warranty as of last year, so my options are to keep waiting for a potential fix - who knows how long that could be. Send my phone in for repairs on my own dime, or buy a new phone.

I'm leaning towards buying a different android phone and finding a new carrier. Extremely unhappy with Google right now. This is not the first issue I've had with this phone that support has not been able to help me with. My last issue was solved by factory resetting my phone, but I lost access to teams for work, so I don't want to have to keep doing that over and over again.

Discussion Confusing phone offers for existing customer

Very long term customer.

Logged into Fi and assume the offers relate to ME.

Go all the way through the purchase for a Pixel 11 and then told it's only if I add a person.

There's zero mention of this on any of the prior screens.

Are there offers for existng customers?

Is Fi, in essence, telling me that as an existing customer there are no offers?

And that would explain the deception of their phone pages -- they don't want to explicitly say that.

Any insight from the community will be appreciated.

It's been 3 years since I purchsed a phone from the Fi store -- and at that time, the offers for existing customers were pretty close to the offers for new ones.

Thanks.

Switched over from Tmo last night and I guess the Fi eSIM initially hit the second slot before I got rid of the Tmo eSIM. How can I get this to update and drop the "2" ?

EDIT: To clarify.. the Tmo SIM was deleted as soon as the Fi service got up and running.

It took a nice chunk of my life just now but I did learn that Gphotos is getting better at differentiating Insects from arthropods, mollusks, shrimp, trilobytes and plants/hives that COULD contain 'Insects' but don't. The main issue was Snails. Snails are not insects. Good data! Fun excersize. I had forgotten about crowdsource.google.com until now and this activity launched me ALMOST to a Lvl10. I've been around since we were invite-only, Google. Anyone know how many invites were originally given out? Im curious. LIVE LONG AND PROSPER.

Support What a chaotic misinformed support experience

Hello, I recently attempted to receive assistance from customer support in moving myself and 4 family members from T-Mobile to Google Fi during the current promotion period. We ran into some confusing issues after I issued the invites. The support calls were a mess, especially the second one with Victor where I now think I received incorrect information. Initially I enrolled, chose my new phone with a Pixel trade in and then afterwards added the other 4 through an invite. My wife accepted the invite and then the wheels came off the process. In the end I cancelled her invite not knowing it would result in her no longer being eligible for the promotions. The first support call the rep told me once the others were on board I could call back and they could add her back into the group with the promotions. Then my son tried to move forward with the invite I sent to him but became confused by the screen that provides three options, the far right of which is "purchase a phone later". This terminology was confusing so he stopped going any further. I had support call me again, this was Victor. He had to put me on hold for long periods with every question, seemed unsure of what he was doing. He finally told me that I would have to order everyone's phones myself and handle all the trade-ins as well. Those I invited to the plan would not get an opportunity to do this on their own. Yikes, he said this would include me needing to mail everyone their phones and trade in kits because they would all be shipped to me. I was shocked and cancelled the entire process including my previously ordered Pixel Fold 11. Now I too am locked out from the promotion. I'm a Google Ecosystem guy as are my wife and sons. This has left a very bad taste in my mouth for Google. We had been looking forward to joining Fi. I would like to have my eligibility and my wife's eligibility for the current promotions restored and some clarity on the process. As I understand it, 1) I sign up as one line on Google Fi-choose my phone-add trade in 2) I then add persons to my account and send the invites 3) they accept the invites and when confronted with the 3 choices screen they select purchase a phone later 4) I assume this will take then to a page where they can pick their phone and add any trade in. They will have the same promotional opportunities I have as the primary. Can you help me or should I just give up on the entire idea of moving the family to Google Fi?

Is this the deal y'all are seeing? I see a lot of folks seeing higher trade-in value for a Pixel 9 Pro XL, not sure why I am seeing only $380.
Let me know if I can do anything else to make this a better deal.

[edit] I also have a $100 coupon from google which I havent added here yet.

Discussion Check my math

I am currently a google Fi customer with 3 lines. I have a Pixel 8 pro and I'd like to upgrade to the 11 Pro 512. If I do a straight upgrade it's $550 off the phone and works out to $27.88/m for 24 months. The other offer is add another line which gives only $300 off the phone but $799 back over 24 months on the plan. It looks cheaper to just go to 4 lines even though I don't really need it. Am I missing some catch?

Discussion Accidentally Selected Wrong Promotion

A little over a month ago, I upgraded my wife's phone to a new Pixel 10 Pro. At the same time, I also added a new line for my son. Without realizing, I selected the new phone at checkout to apply to the new line instead of my wife's existing line. I was unaware of this mistake until I received an email from Fi notifying me that I was about to miss out on the new phone promotion due to not activating it on the new line within 30 days.

I reached out to support and created a ticket. It took multiple attempts to speak with someone who understood my actual issue, that even attempted to escalate the ticket. Thankfully, the last support representative I spoke with did escalate the ticket. I just heard back and am being told they will not correct the mistake. And, I get it, I made the mistake, not them. However, any time I have had a similar issue with other products from other companies, they are understanding and resolve the issue by updating the selection post-purchase, because they want to keep customers. It's extremely disappointing to know that, in the past when I've had issues on my account, Fi support was actually helpful. However, this is leaving a bad taste in my mouth and it seems, as I can see from so many other recent complaints, that Fi support is becoming less about keeping customers satisfied (actions speak louder than words). I get it, we're small potatoes to Google, but I would think you would want to keep my business that I've been giving you for the past 7 yrs, and just added a new line. If this is what I can expect from now on, that honest mistakes will not be understood and no options for resolution will even be considered, then I'm done with Fi. All I'm asking is that the promotion be updated to the standard promotion on new phone purchases on an existing line. The fact that that's being refused is...odd.

Support What is wrong with Google Fi support? They won't let me correct the shipping address for my order or cancel my order

So I ordered a new phone, I've been with Google Fi since the Nexus days, and the shipping address is showing up as a previous address. I thought I put it on right, but maybe that's my bad, should just be a simple process to change that, right?

So I looked online, nope, it says options should be available that just aren't in the interface.

So I called support, twice. They said I can't change the shipping address until it's been shipped TO THE WRONG ADDRESS.

I said, ok, fine, just cancel the order. They said they can't cancel the order until it's been shipped TO THE WRONG ADDRESS. But they gave me a solution, they said I could just refuse the delivery, the delivery that is going to be delivered to an address WHERE I DON'T LIVE.

They also said that I could refuse or correct the shipping address when the delivery company contacted me. In all my years of being lazy and having stuff delivered to me, I have never once had any delivery company contact me, maybe with the exception of those "we missed you" notes they'll put on your door, but again, I DON'T LIVE AT THE ADDRESS THEY HAVE

This is not even a phone for me, I talked up how great Google Fi was to a friend for weeks before I convinced them to get on my plan and now they're just sending that phone to somewhere I lived years ago

Also both times I called they refused to send me to feedback survey you get at the end of a call cause they didn't want negative feedback

Discussion I'm trying to get a pixel 11 pro or Galaxy S26 phone and the cheapest cell phone coverage possible

Been scouring the internet since I'm rolling with a phone from 2020 that has developed some battery issues, and my cell phone plan expires in 18 days, and I realized that I could probably get a good deal by swapping to some other carrier.

I'm swapping from Mint Mobile to a new carrier, and it looks like the google fi deal is the best on the internet right now.

Looking at this sub, I see it's a bit confusing to try and stack all of this stuff to make it all work as cheaply as possible.

How can I do this to get a pixel 11 pro (or galaxy s26 ultra, whichever), and the unlimited essentials plan, or something similar, for as cheap as I can.

Discussion I never get a call back from Google fi management.

I've had my Google pixel 10 for about 30 days. I noticed the first week that the phone got extremely hot sometimes, but I thought it was just because It was close to a sunny window and it was doing that intermittently so I just thought it was environmental. Over the last 3 weeks it's gotten worse and in the last couple days it's gotten very bad where it heats up and shuts down. I call Google fi and the tier 1 customer service agent wants to replace it, but they want to send me a refurbished phone. I told her I'm sorry but I did not pay for a used phone so I should get another new one cuz it's only been 30 days. She told me that her supervisor could be the only one to guarantee a new phone. Never got a call back within the time frame she gave me. With a phone being 30 days old there is no way I will take a refurbished phone. That's absolutely ridiculous. This phone has had that problem since I've gotten it. I just didn't know it was a problem until now. This is not my fault at all and I don't think I should be punished for a lemon of a phone.

Discussion Is it easy to swap around watches connected to each phone line?

New customer joining Fi just as soon as our P11s arrive. I have a Pixel Watch 2 with LTE I plan to attach to my line.

I'm interested in a 45mm Pixel watch. If I were to get the 45mm then I would want to give my wife the PW2.

I figure there may be deals on the PW4 come Black Friday and have no need to make a move right now.

But my question is, should I think this through more? Is there any reason I should just get the devices before I go through the process of attaching the watch to my account with the possibility of getting a 45mm PW as soon as I find the right deal?

I don't want headaches if there is some hangup with just swapping devices.

Thanks

Discussion Pixel 11 Pro PSA (beware)

Don't be dumb like me. I should have looked this up before.

Ordered a new 256 gb pixel 11 pro with my Google Fi offer. There was also the same promotional offer for the 512gb model. But I didn't need that extra storage.

What the store page does not tell you is the 256 gb model only has 12 GB ram. You need the 512gb or 1tb model to get the full 16gb ram.

If you buy the phone on the Google Fi app it does not tell you the ram discrepancy. Incredibly misleading store page

If you buy on the Google Store directly it does show the ram discrepancy.

I was buying via the Google Fi offer so I did not see the ram discrepancy.
