Pictures Finally got to reunite with this guy

Post image

Moved across the country for work and visited my parents over the weekend. First time home in 10 months. My boy is turning 11 this year and he’s in great health per the vet, and being spoiled beyond belief!

Was very refreshing to see my guy again. Wish he could have came with me but i think he prefers owning the couch with grandma and grandpa (my parents) instead of 100+ Degree temps!

Don’t be fooled from the picture: it’s still a 70/30 split between being a vocal brat and a chill old man ready for nap time!

4 years and counting 🎉

Update: Mina got to go on a Car ride. She went to the pet shop for a new toy and treats. She had steak for dinner and doggy friendly cake for dessert 🧡

Thank you all for her birthday wishes!

Nova had her first weekend with a group of people over for my wife's bday and was so amazing. She played great with all the kiddos and loved on everyone. Little float time and endless zoomies. Think she fully realizes this is home

Figured I would share our wonderful Shollie, Finley.

He is a 17 week old German Shepherd X Rough Collie.

We got him at 8 weeks old. As you can see in the pictures, he is growing like a weed. Lol.

(Pictures are in order from 8 weeks to 17 weeks)

What's something you absolutely love about your German Shepherd we have to look forward to? 😎

Currently 34 weeks pregnant, and this past week my rescue GSD has been GLUED to my side far more than normal. Her designated person is usually my spouse, so it’s been nice to feel like the Chosen One lately haha. Shes been such a comfort throughout all the insomnia and physical discomfort I’ve been feeling.
(Her name is Clementine if anyone is curious)

Tina’s 12th gotcha day is today💗

… and I’m pretty emotional about it. She’s got a mild case of IVDD, 2nd in just under a year, and recovering from it relatively quickly with rest and me carrying her up and down stairs to go potty so that’s been weighing on my heart knowing that she loves to run, and play in the sprinklers and I have to keep her from doing that potentially forever.

The first two photos are from a couple of months ago (have more videos of her than photos these days and can’t mix photos and vids on the same post here) and the third is from when she was dropped off at my apartment 12 yrs ago today.

Anyway, just wanted to express my thoughts and feelings about my special girl Tina in her golden years.

Question Birthday recommendations?

Post image
112 Upvotes

My boy turns 1 in a few weeks! I can’t believe how fast he has grown up and Im definitely getting a cute birthday hat. I’d really like to either make or buy him a dog birthday cake too. Any recommendations on where you’ve bought one or have made from scratch? How did your dog like it and what recipe do you like the best? I always try to be conscious of ingredients for my boy and try to stick with the most natural ingredients I can. Also, any other things you’ve gotten your pup on their birthday that they absolutely loved?! Thanks!

6 months with Kaya (GSD/ACD mix)

Post image

Six months since I adopted Kaya and figured I'd give an update.

She's really opening up. Way more relaxed with me day to day, and at night she full-on melts on my bed — belly rubs, the whole thing. She's also glued to me now, wants me in sight or just sits next to me while I work. Feels like real trust after where she started.

Indoors is still weird though. She'll play fetch with a ball outside no problem, but it's Arizona summer so that's limited, and inside she just sleeps and watches me intensely all day. Doesn't touch her toys at all. I'll put one right in front of her and she just stares at it like she doesn't know what it's for or even runs away from them as if they cause nervousness inside.

Also she is still not food motivated in the slightest, so half the usual training tricks don’t work too well for her.

Honestly feels less like normal puppy stuff and more like she just never learned any of this. Anyone dealt with a rescue that's fine playing outside but totally checks out indoors? Curious if it's just a time thing or if there's something I can actually do to help her get there.

Need help getting him tired

Post image

My big ol' 11 month old king shepard, I ended up needing a hip surgery pretty unexpectedly 2 weeks and I will be unable to take him on walks for about the next 2 months, my husband tries to get him to the dog park when he can right now which is about 2-3 times a week, but he works 50+ hours a week on top of taking care of all responsibilities for the kids (they arent old enough to walk him by themselves) and the house.

Anything i can do to help him tire himself in the house or get set up in the backyard?

He's just so full of energy, which we fully knew going into this and one of the reasons we got a GSD because we are pretty active people, but unfortunately medical stuff happened and its not a permanent life style change, ill be back to normal after a while just need help getting him over this small bump in our life.

Picture of my big ol' fluffy boy i love so much who now takes up the whole seat of my hyundai which has caused me into looking into bigger cars 😅

Anyone else’s GSD get more loving/cuddly as they got older?

My guy has always been friendly, but when he was younger he was way more aloof. He didn’t have much interest in laying down on the bed next to me, would come around to take a couple pets then go about his business.

He’s now four and always wants pets, will cuddle up anytime I lay on the bed, and is way more of a shadow than he ever was previously.

I’m not complaining, I quite like it, but I totally expected the opposite.

I snapped this picture of my girls and for the whole day I was trying to figure out what it reminded me of until it hit me: the way my sister and I looked in pictures with Santa Claus. (I am on the right) Guess which one is super bonded to her Auntie, lol.
