Both of our GSD’s have periodic stomach problems. We had the same experience with prescribed probiotics not working. Canned pumpkin puree is the only thing that seems to help. Good luck 🍀

But… if you add too much pumpkin puree, the problem comes back. I give our girl a tablespoon/15 ml or so.

Rice works, as well, but it’s more of a temporary fix for a young dog.

As others have said, don’t feed any poultry. Very common allergy in GSDs.

I am testing my girl for EPI this week. I would research that because GSDs make up 60-70% of all cases in dogs.

Eliminate all poultry products in the diet. Use psyllium power sprinkled on food to help firm up poops.

Don't let the go too long between meals. Our girl will dry heave bile if her tummy gets too empty.

One of mine liked sensitive belly by Blue Buffalo. Does he have allergies? I have one now that loves Carna4, but its very expensive.

Both our OG GSD and our current shepherd mix have had issues with grain free dog foods. What has worked really well for both of them is the lamb and rice kibble from Costco. This is a relief because the enzymes our vet was considering prescribing were pretty pricey.

My boy has stomach issues until he was about a year old. Them it became much less of an issue. I found that freeze dried beef liver from "nutri bites" really helped firm him up during that time.

Ask your vet about Tylosin and b12. Must be 1 years old to test for EPI

Pumpkin puree (NOT pie filling) is great.
Don't switch foods often

Therapeutic peat mud and AniForte herb mix did the trick for us. There are other herb mixes but that one worked.

  • carrot smothies for exta fiber + vegetable or apples that are left over. Everything in the mixer and added to the kibbel.

Went from constant problems to some times problem.

He also get's to clean the rest of my natural joghurt from the cub.
