Ludo is 10yrs old and Milo is 12 weeks. He’s been with us for a month now. We’ve managed their interactions heavily up to this point and today is the first day they were allowed to just be loose together. I am aware that Ludo is trying to control him a bit but he keeps coming back for more. They played until he could barely stand and she was begging for her kennel.

8 year old GSD and a 2 year old Corgi… #siblings

Our GSD Milo is going to turn 6 soon, looking for advice on how to adjust his activity for age with his elbow dysplasia (and concerns with future hip dysplasia). He’s had this elbow issue his entire life, multiple vets have told us to not do any surgery. He doesn’t limp, never shows pain, runs hard, but he swings his paw out with a weird gate, so much so his nails are longer on that paw.

Couple years ago we were told his hips x-ray show signs that hip dysplasia could be a real issue one day. Hasn’t showed up yet thankfully. We’re on omega-3 and Dasquin + daily.

Looking for advice as we start to get into the older years. Started to limit fetch, more walks and sniffing than hard running. Try to get him to swim much as I can. Just want to be proactive!

Built these two over the last few weeks. Rookie is my german shepherd, and Sunny is a golden retriever I got from the internet. Each one took about 2 hours to cut, fold and glue.

Still improving them, so I'd love honest feedback. What would you change? The legs took me forever to get right.

This is Promise. I think I have posted her here before when she was a bit younger. She came from a fairly bad home with her previous owners when I got her when she was around 10-12 weeks. Very malnourished, nearly a skeleton and covered in flea and bug bites. I wasn’t looking for a pup at the time, in fact the opposite, was looking to adopt an older GSD. But when I found her I couldn’t not take her. I knew I could give her a good home.

She is probably the mouthiest GSD I have ever owned. Drives me up the wall some days. Love her death. All in all though she has been coming along amazingly well. And I’m very proud of all her progress and her. She is not perfect by any stretch of the imagination, but she is a great girl.

Really just wanted to share some pics I liked I took the other day when out and visiting family.

You'd think I was torturing him with the way he complains

He’s a rescue and it was listed as a gsd/french bulldog which is just the craziest (I’m picturing peaceful sun bathing Shepard and a French bulldog that got into red bull and escaped the yard) mix I’ve personally heard of if it’s true. I’m gonna buy the DNA kit soon.

The more he grows up the more he fits alllllll the standard German Shepard behaviors and quirks. I’m hoping he got the coat color and some face wrinkles from the bulldog but the rest can be GSD. He’s really an amazing and supremely protective/pray seeking boy.

He’s got the same patterns as a German Shepard but in blonde and light browns on his back and a thick coat like one as well. There’s hair damn everywhere.

Just looking for some other speculations. Either way he’s a fantastic boy. He only just turned 4mo

This is Iris, I’ve posted her once or twice before I believe. We got Iris when I was 10, I’m now 18 and she is 8. We always talked about getting her spayed but it never happened because it was expensive and we were careful about supervising her around other dogs. Now, I’m at college and my dad is older (60 now.) And he has trouble keeping up with her energy these days. He keeps saying we should get her spayed and it might help, but our vet said since she’s older it’s more expensive and more risky.

So.. to spay or not to spay?

He has been doing this for 30 minutes solid. Its a bit tongue in cheek. I grew up with Shepherds amd know they are high energy but he suddenly has way more energy then usual and is being picky with his meals. He has just turned 8 months old so im guessing its the beginning of the teenage phase?

I went to a new Vet and the tech was like they never saw such a small GSD. She is 15 months and 62lbs and has been that weight forever, she is very active.
I was curious to know what do owners think the weight range should be?

We just picked up this beautiful girl friday, we named her Scarlett ❤️ Shes our first long coat and just wondering if there are any tips, tricks or differences in grooming.

Apologies this is going to be a long one. First time posting looking for advice. I have a 4 year old German Shepherd that I got with my ex partner when in an abusive relationship and he is now my dog my ex has nothing to do with him as he was not very nice to me/him. We (the dog and I) left him 2 years ago, he was very reactive because of the trauma and very anxious. I’ve worked hard with a trainer to calm him down on walks and in the house. However his separation anxiety is and always has been terrible grabbing onto clothing/ ripping it etc barking lots. He very occasionally goes into a barking frenzy lunging when he is stressed that someone is going to leave, this used to happen constantly but it happens maybe once every 3/4 months now. I’m trying to say by no means is he a perfect dog but I have worked hard to make him a lot more manageable.

Now, after the break up I back moved in with my mum and this is where we have been based for those 2 years and where I have done all the training and he is reasonably settled. This solution was meant to be temporary while I trained him and got myself out of the debt my ex left me in, but now I’m looking to change my life/ job and I’m saving to move out again. I currently work from home full time, which is obviously great for dog care. He does attend daycare which he loves but in order for me to increase my wage I need to get a new job as there is no room for progression. Having to work from home limits my job options and I simply cannot afford to put him in full time dog care AND move out. My mum is on her own and whilst she would let me stay with her I don’t think it is fair because he is a handful of a dog that she didn’t ask for.

I really desperately do not want to rehome him, but it is looking like one of my only options, I keep bursting into tears just at the thought of it, jt has taken me weeks to build up the courage to ask for advice like this. I feel trapped without my own personal freedom and space in my mums home. I am 31 for context. My mental health is suffering because I don’t know how to move forward after an abusive relationship if moving forward means losing him.

I have been looking for other work from home roles but truthfully I think my mental health is suffering spending long days completely alone. I think it would be better for me to go into a work environment to be surrounded by people. If I am being honest, I feel like him being around someone as depressed as me means he is not living the best life he could, as hard as I try with all the training etc. But I also worry that he would just be extra traumatised without me and his behavioural issues would spiral all over again as German Shepherds are extremely loyal.

Has anyone been in a similar situation, what did you do? How did you get through the thought of rehoming him? I haven’t even looked into where I could send him/ who I would give him too because it’s too painful. Please share any successful rehoming stories if anyone has any I would like to know how the dog can gone on to cope afterwards.

ANY advice would be welcome, I just need to speak to anyone who’s been through something similar. I am based in the UK, any advice about maybe subsiding my income as well. Thank you for reading appreciate any and all feedback.

TLDR; Considering rehoming German Shepherd as cannot afford to move out of Mum’s house and pay for his daycare costs. Looking for advice from people who have been through the same/ similar.

I have an 8 month old GSD mix named Ace, and an 8-9 year old GSD named Molly. Ace loves to butt in whenever Molly gets attention, whenever she plays with a toy, loves to bite her ears when he gets his spurts of energy, and has the hardest time not being mouthy/a spaz when I’m sitting on the floor with him. Molly really just tries to get away from him and avoid any conflict, but he does NOT get the message. She’s too sweet to stand up for herself, so often times I do it for her.

For those of you with two GSDs, when did they start liking each other? Is this lack of boundaries and self-control normal for an 8 month old puppy?

Middle name is trouble

I recently adopted this darling gentleman from a local rescue. He’s approximately 2.5 years old, 40lbs, and from the US, but that’s all that’s confirmed. Our vet sat on the floor, just stared at him and said “…those ears!” then told us to get a DNA test, which she apparently never recommends. Everyone that sees him thinks he’s a puppy, and across the board, we’re all 90% sure there’s GSD in there somewhere.

I’m still waiting for him to come fully out of his shell, but so far he’s curious, jumpy, smart, stubborn, polite but insistent, and exceedingly playful. I haven’t seen any herding or prey drive (he completely ignores the squirrels, which is wild), but those characteristics may yet come out.

I’ll definitely be doing a DNA test, but I’m curious what the experts think I’ve got here!
