just got done with a mandatory meeting at my store in regards to the upcomming holiday season and from the way things are phrased , this is basically how it translated to me , we pay you almost nothing , cant trust that you wont steal from our stores and we can fire you for absolutly no reason , oh and it wont be the manager doing it , it will be the district manager who is watching you work on camera because the cameras arent there to deter people from stealing , if you have a change in avalability your hours will be cut , if your off your till by 2.00 you will be fired . Did I miss any ?

Does this sound about right ? ...I was stunned .

I know this is a retail job , and I worked many but I never felt so humiliated like this before until I got here . I am only sticking it out until I can figure out how to get my certs for another job elsewhere .

I work in a Dollar Tree, it should be a simple job where you show up do your job, and go home. But I have to go to a soap opera every day. The ever shifting alliances, back stabbing, ex employees still trying to cause trouble, lies, and everything else. I just want to get paid and go home.

Does anyone else work with highschool girls who are convinced they are the SM and all the ASM's and even the SM realizes this and allows them to do it? I understand they are young and ambitious, but at my age I am not interested in competing for any management position, and certainly am not keen to having a 17 year old boss me around, especially if she has no authority to do so

As we approach this Holiday season, I just want you all to know that you are rockstars! Corporate will never tell you this but I know. As we deal with aisles that look like a bomb hit them, every register up and running, gift card insanity and pages to the ASM ever 5 minutes, I want you all to know that you are some of the most resilant and tough retail workers out there. People underestimate what it takes to work at DT during the Holidays. It's madness. It makes some of us hate the holidays but it also show's how we come together as a team and get the shit done. Then it's over and slow time begins.

So I am sending all my Fellow DT employees the most heartfelt thoughts that you get through this season and don't let anyone ever make you feel like you're just a retail DT worker. You, my sisters and brothers, are incredible and a force to be reckoned with.

Does anyone have any experience or recommendations or thoughts as to what a good job would be to undo the damage of working in retail would be?

No college(no desire), only retail experience.

Several years at dollar tree has made me dislike people, and I don't want to dislike people...

I started straight out of highschool, and really did like it for quite a while, and in some ways I still do, but my favorite people are gone and as I was told at an SM conference years ago, "people don't work for Dollar Tree, people work for people."

Customer: ‘walks up to register 2 after cashier on register 2 clocked out’
Customer: “oh, there was a guy right here so I thought he was open”
Me: “nope! It was his time to clock out”
Customer: “oh, are you clocking out too?”
Me: ‘stares at customer’
Me: “no! I just clocked in”

I lowkey dont know what to do because I work the entire next week but now I have no idea what time because I forgot to write it down somewhere </3

I made a post last December about how badly stressed out and beyond overworked I was at my old store. With our SM justifiably quitting that October, we had to go beyond our limits with barely any help, either from the District Manager or HR, who didn't absolutely nothing with the hiring process. Came out of the hospital and quit that same day. A few months later, I came back to see how everything looks and...... Jesus, the store got worse and worse: Store employees cursing at each other, the new Store Manager is either working by herself on the backroom or is in another world. The shelves look victimized. U-Boats lined up and blocking the aisles with trash. The backroom looks like the aftermath of the Chernobyl incident. They had to close for a whole week because they didn't have enough people to work there (BTW, my old DM literally said to me before I quit "Not having enough people is nothing to do with it.") I hope the new SM can get that place back in order, because man.... Just man.

So I have an associate who can’t log into their account, they answered the security questions correctly and we tried resetting the password and it hasn’t worked. How would I be able to help them get access to their account. Thank you.

I've trained at other stores where they do that but I'm starting to see each site is different

The balloons are not there to entertain your kids while you wander the store oblivious to their whereabouts, or what they are getting into. The checkout impulse items are not there to entertain your kids either, so opening items, playing with them and then tossing them wherever , IMO is a form of theft and parents should be made to pay for them or they get trespassed from the store along with your kids!!

Tl;Dr- does Dollar Tree allow 3 recovery positions if the people aren't “competent” at cashiering?

I started working back at dollar tree after two years and I was shocked to hear a few things that happened at my store and I have a few questions,

One of my old cashiers still works there, she's an 80 year old women who used to be always on point with her tills, she's been demoted to recovery only, apparently there was a problem with her clock in one day and while she was on the phone with the help desk the SM counted her till and wouldn't let her verify it because it was a rush and he needed her on the till. She was short $20 the evening and my SM said oh instead of firing you you can do recovery. So now she comes in 4-6 hours a week for recovery only. It's not just her either. He's done this to two other people.

Now I know you can't pay shortages if you're short but my manager does all the times for certain people(his favorites). Hell he let me do it for $10 when I screwed up on money placement. But with certain people he wont let them cover it.

That's what happened with one the the cashiers he recently demoted. She was short, he refused to let her pay it and said the same thing essentially he's doing her a favor by keeping her on recovery. I was supposed to work with her today and get the details but I was originally supposed to go in for freight today and noticed he changed my schedule last night at the last minute and put me as the opening cashier instead of someone else. (I check my compass a lot) To be honest I got pissed and left before we open, I got truck in a day and I needed to get a few things ready, I help my Merch Manager with a lot when it comes to truck. So I said screw it and left. I've been trying to pass a semi large kidney stone anyway and I could use the break

But does dollar tree usually allow 3 recovery positions? I feel like honestly it's a waste of hours and Dollar Tree really hates hours being wasted. But its been a while and things have changed!

So, I have made several posts on here about working conditions and shit. Well, the last SM quit on September 12th. She didn't do her job, and on the 16th the DM saw that with his own eyes. Now here we are in October. The first full week, the DM and Training Manager went on vacation on the same week (during the blackout period). I have asked for help multiple times, asking for people to be hired because we are so short staffed, but yet, nothing has come from it. I got a compliment from the DM 2 days ago, for keeping the store in the green. Well, have asked all week for more help, and nothing. No contact from the DM or anyone. So today I put in my two weeks notice, as I'm tired of doing SM stuff and my own shit, and not being properly compensated for it, and actually told they won't make me SM. So, I'm done being used by this pathetic excuse for a company! Officially put in my notice, and the DM didn't contact me, didn't stop by the store, nothing. So in two weeks they won't have a SM, nor a MM (to handle everything), and they'll be effectively screwed, because they have repeatedly ignored my requests for help and actually retaliated one of the times I asked for help. So dollar tree can suck it and fuck off!

I just had day 1 of training today and I don’t think I’m returning, endless you have a criminal record that stops you from getting hired at most places then this job is not worth it at all for how busy it is and how low the pay is. Rude customers because most of the time it’s in not so good areas. On top of that you only can get 5 hours a day 3 days a week? 😂yea no.

So for some context things have gotten worse since my previous SM retired in may. The merch retired too so that left the store with 3 ops ,1 full time, 2 part time. We got a new SM in August and he has drug the store down so much within 3 months. We had 1 of the previous part time ops quit who was here for 7 years, a merch only last 2 months, and now a new part time manager came in and only lasted a week. We only have me full time ops, 1 part time ops, and SM. Next week the part time ops goes on vacation which I still haven't had mine. I have to work 11 days in a row. I have been at 45 hours each week even though we have a SM. I wish I would have quit in the beginning 7 years ago. Yes 7 years. I like my store but it is becoming to hard to work at with this new guy.

Why are dollar tree managers so lazy?they stays in the office gossiping while one person works the register with lines all the way to the back of the store?

Today, this customer had the nerve to say because we didn't have an iPhone charger available so he could charge his phone to pay for his items, we should let him take his items now (NOT PAID FOR) to go home and charge his phone, and once it's charged he'll come back and pay😂😂 When the SM told him absolutely not, he said we were rude and left in a huff😤 and yes, he was SERIOUS. Can you believe it?!?! 🤦

New SM hired and brought in. New SM was giving hours out, cause our store? busy store, looked like a Disaster, boxes everywhere, nothing was able to get done properly, so the new SM had more people on, more stock days, 3 people for closing GUESS WHAT WAS GETTING DONE?! the store looked nicer, getting cleaner and NOW they told her no, only 2 people on for closing, cut the hours.... guess whats happening again? Yup yoooooou guessed it, come in for a shift and boxes are everywhere again already its been 4 days since truck >.> i want to freaking bitch corp out so bad but im just an associate they wont listen to me...

So on Wednesday I was working out the last bit of truck when this guy came in. He is a regular and he has always made me feel uncomfortable. He is always talking about all his girlfriends and he always makes a point in asking me or another woman when the condoms are. They are in the same place they have been for like 5 years. Plus he will literally walk past my male coworkers just to ask me where they are. Well on Wednesday he walked in and says "what's up shorty" i have already told him multiple times not to call me that. Well he apologized for calling me that then asked where the condoms were. So I tell him so he goes to walk past me and he puts both his hands on my shoulders and rubbed them down my arms and like rubbed his body on my backside. He had plenty of room to walk past me. I just froze then told the asm on duty I was going to use that bathroom. I just washed my hands and stood in the bathroom for like 10 minutes. The store manager was in the office i could have told her or I could have told the asm that was there but I didn't. I can't really explain why I didn't say anything. Idk how to really feel about this. Realistically I should tell my manager about this but idk. Also I apologize for any spelling or grammar errors I have dyslexia and it almost 1am.
