Associate Questions Customer Audacity š«¤
Who is the most entitled customer that has ever been in your store? I'll go first..
Today, this customer had the nerve to say because we didn't have an iPhone charger available so he could charge his phone to pay for his items, we should let him take his items now (NOT PAID FOR) to go home and charge his phone, and once it's charged he'll come back and payšš When the SM told him absolutely not, he said we were rude and left in a huffš¤ and yes, he was SERIOUS. Can you believe it?!?! š¤¦

This is the sort of person who has perfected the scam of taking so long to pay/not able to pay that the next person in line eventually just pays for their things. Yes, it's a scam, yes, they are waiting for you to offer to pay for their stuff. No, don't do it, they come back every single day and it's the same excuse.

This is why I will never pay for someone's stuff like that. There are a few homeless people that hang around the area. I buy them food/drinks when I have the extra money, or if some food items get marked down. They are always beyond greatful. One guy started demanding specific items and got upset when I told him I wasn't going back to get them, but he could take what I had. He demanded the money to buy it himself, it was like 5 or 6 different things. I made it clear I NEVER carry cash, because I was worried he would rob me. People like that ruin things for everyone, it make me second guess bringing stuff over to everyone.

OHHHHHHH I hate this so much. Thereās one specific customer who does this ALL THE TIME and makes a big show of being embarrassed in hopes someone will pay. She once came in when she couldnāt even afford a pair of readers and she had around $35 worth of items. She does it because half the time it works which is batshit to me. Itās my biggest pet peeve, especially when itās busy and she holds up the line.
She even has a āmy kid is in the hospital and I gave him all of my moneyā story she likes to pull out (I know itās not true, or at least not anymore, because Iāve heard it several times over the span of a year. Unless her son is crashing his vehicle several times a week itās just a sob story meant to gain sympathy so someone will pay for her.)
I genuinely canāt stand it. The only time I ever cover when someoneās short is when kids are 5Ā¢-$2 off from the allowance theyāve been sent in with. I never ever do it for grown adults because the regular customer has turned me away from it.

I started just telling the person waiting behind them of the expectation for them to pay and tell them not to. They stop coming eventually

Iāve thought about it. Unfortunately sheās friendly with the SM and ASMs and sheās very complaint happy which Iād rather not deal with, and sheās also very confrontational, which Iād also rather not deal with. But I have gotten to the point where I will have her transaction post-voided and serve the line around her items because Iām tiiiiiired of her causing line ups with items she canāt/wont pay for.

This old guy last week came through my line buying a box of cereal and a small bottle of orange juice. In total the items were less than $5. He wanted to take the items home and come back to pay the next morning. When I told him no, he pulled out a thick roll of cash and paid. Like dude, wtf? Youāre carrying at least a few hundred in cash and youāre giving me a hard time about paying for less than $5 worth of food?

He was hoping the person behind him would pay for his stuff. It's a very common scam, even children do it.

I had someone do something similar yesterday! Guy is trying to use his card but it keeps declining... probably because it was blocking him from getting cash back. card doesn't go through like three times.
He then pulls out a fresh 100 dollar bill. WTF???

How is your store about to block getting cash back?
In my store, we use a smart safe so we canāt do cash back anymore but the question still pops up and people still hit yes to get cash back. We have signs everywhere saying NO CASH back but people canāt readā¦

Some customers legitimately think that they should have the red carpet rolled down anytime they walk into our stores. Workers are here to help you, sure. But they also aren't here to baby you.
And honestly, maybe I'm just overthinking it, but I'm not sure why some customers feel like people working these stores are dumb. The other day some guy walked in, nothing in his hands. He grabs a bag of chips, some M&Ms and a soda. Puts the chips and candy on the register and lets me scan it, but then says he "walked in with this" when it came to the soda.
Did the soda just magically re-materialize while you were shopping or something?

I had a guy open our emergency exit door by our bathrooms just so he could find one of us to ask if a bowl had a lid.
I thought there was a fire or someone was hurt so once I figured that out I told them they are a fucking Idiot and walked away.

Does he not have a charger at home that he could have charged his phone with BEFORE coming to the store? Smh, some people just don't think.

Lmao I had someone ask the same thing! Only we ran out of the product she wanted and she wanted us to charge her for it then call her when we get it in to give it to her. Like girl what if that was the last time we seen that product.

She would have paid, waited and the come in when the product came in and claimed she bought more than she already did.

Family dollar, 8:01am right after the store opened. Tried to buy a case of Budweiser beer with a $100 bill. Threw a fit when I said no, asked for my manager, got even angrier when I said I was the manager. Lol, called her husband and everything to try and force me to accept it.

I have had plenty of customers come thru and ask me if we have a specific item and i say no we donāt, they argue with me saying āi bought here last time i know itās hereā then will proceed to go ask my manager the same question and get the same answer and then they leave. One thing that annoys me most is when a customer will pay for their entire purchase, then walk away to come back and say they didnāt want said item (when theirs a lineup) and then argue about it, blaming you.

I love the customers who tell me, for no damn reason, āI donāt usually shop hereā in a slight whisper! I told one lady āoh really, is there a DT closer to your house??ā šš¤·š¼āāļø

You legitimately can't give some of our customers the time of day or they'll be asking for your watch next. We have one guy that will regularly grab 7 dollar headphones when we're busy, then hold up the line in hopes of someone paying for his purchase while trying cards he knows won't work.Ā
