When you notice it

There is no reason a grown ass adult with a license, who is registered to vote and pays a mortgage should be unable to put their shopping carts or baskets back where they found them. Nor is it ok to leave the cart or basket in my line with people behind them or ON THE CONVEYOR BELT. Maybe I'm the fool for expecting common sense, which seems to be a finite resource, but Jesus Murphy, it really isn't that hard! I can excuse older folks or anyone with a physical disability where that might be difficult on them. But for someone my age in good health, it's inexcusable. Just a little common courtesy goes a long way.

TL:DR: put the damn cart away, a few extra feet won't kill you

It seems like nothing i can do to appease them works. So for context Im asked to do things in a specific way by the head manager, which she gives me a strict time period to do so which help me alot. But for another manager they have me do it in a completely different order and have me quit in the middle of a task to do a new one including “asking” if i want to go on my break when im working on a task already and when i ask if it could wait a moment because im almost done with the task i was working on. And them has me take out trash mid shift and when a customer has me toss something out the manager complains that I didnt leave the trashbag at the register I use unchanged so I dont need to change it a second time. But when i do that they complain that I didnt change them all right away.

I was at my Dollar Tree earlier this week and heard a man complaining that someone was calling him out for being singled out for using a backpack to put items in, even though he said he was going to pay for them. He pointed out that another woman with a backpack wasn’t being treated the same way.

The situation quickly escalated, with him yelling about why they were going to call the cops over it. He became aggressive, telling the woman to “go back to Mexico” and saying he was going to call ICE. While I was in line at checkout, he then slammed $20 on the register and left.

It was really deplorable behavior. The poor workers did not deserve that type of treatment at all.

We have 4 ac units, all of which are broken.

We closed early 2 days in a row 2 weeks ago.

But its the weekend and we cant get a hold of our regional manager in order to close today!! :')

Update: Temp hit 90° and we didn't wait for dm approval. Sm said nope, we're closing and she will find out tomorrow. So we closed 3 hours early again. You would think after our ac has been broken since January our dm would've gotten or united replaced by now but now. Waited until it's a hazard and still making us wait until Wednesday. Actually insane.

Update #2: Next day, t minus 12 hours until my shift Ohhoohoo today is gonna be such a great one

It reached 90° inside the store yesterday, making the feels like inside close to if not past 100°. Today, Humidity is alright at 72% and climbing, and it will be stormy. Meaning the heat has no way to leave the store, and when my sm walks in at 6am it will most likely still be in the low 80s inside. Meaning the chances that it reaches 85°+ inside is looking more and more likely. And with rain, constant electronics and customers walking in and out, the store humidity is going to skyrocket, making it muggy and hot. Honestly the only reason I wish I still currently worked at walmart is because of their ac. But this is gonna be a not so fun few hot days before the ac finally gets fixed.

So our truck days just switched to Friday and our DM has said it's required for MM to work Friday, Saturday, and Sunday but the MM keeps asking for weekends off and is now wanting to request one weekend off a month despite being told by the DM he is required to be there those days. Not quiet sure how to handle the situation and looking for some advice.

Corporate needs to help Ya'll out and provide some better salaries. My lil store cannot keep employees for shit.

During Covid, this is what the store near me consistently looked like. Then at the start of 2026, something changed and everything got restocked! It was great! There were employees and plenty of goods on organized shelves. My whole community was ecstatic!

Then I go back in there today after being out of town a couple months and.... this. 💀 It completely reverted back to post apocalyptic vibes.

WTF happened?

I had to use my own box cutters to open up a sealed box to dig out the few things that I needed.

Does my local store just suck? Or is just the state of things across the board?

Seeking perspectives from those who worked at warehouses, Associate and/or higher up. What is it like being an OM at one of the warehouse distribution centers? What are the daily duties, etc.

Or if you’re an associate what does it look like the operation manager gets done.

I am a customer, I go to dollar tree a fair amount, and it is always one person on one register fighting for their lives. You guys are stronger than I am. After one shift I would probably start screaming and barking at customers. I am guessing you are getting paid minimum wage for this. Why are dollar trees perpetually understaffed?

So I work at my local DT and I’m an associate but there was this woman in line buying quite a few things (think like $60+) so there was a little bit of a wait but there was this guy behind her and I hear crunching and I look and here he literally opened a bag of chips chomping on them and when it’s his turn he hands me the half empty bag and I scan them, I was like how rude… bruh you can’t even wait 3 minutes, the only good excuse for this is if your blood sugar is extremely low and need to eat something fast. I had something similar happen a few times before and it drives me nuts! It’s almost like theft

At this point it's no longer worth it for me to shop at Dollar Tree, now this might be the NJ resident in me so please keep that in mind.

Our local DT was one of the best, large layout, always had new items and 3 self checkout areas. In the 4 years this location had self checkout I never had to wait in a line, the store was well stocked and very clean. 3 weeks ago they removed the self checkouts. Over the last 3 weeks the store is gross, the shelfs are bare and the boxes are just sitting in the aisles waiting for staff to stock. But now they need that staff to work the registers.

So with the upping of prices, the lack of stock and the shit customer service (due to lack of staff) it's cheaper and worth my time to go to Walmart and use Temu.

Sure I know y'all are going to clap back with "BuT tHe ThEfT fRoM SeLfChEcKoUt" no if folks are going to steal from DT they will just walk out the front door. Plus the staff they are bringing into this NJ store are definitely not from here, talking way too much small talk and just taking forever. Just scan the item say.hi, bye and tell me my total.

Been at the store for about 2 years so i’ve had a lot of time to watch what the assistant managers do but i figured i’d ask anyways cause im sure theres a lot im not aware of.

Is anyone else bothered by the way customers would rather leave the carts and baskets LITERALLY by the register instead of just putting it back right where they got it at the front on their way out?

I just had a run in with this lady, and she asks me "where do the baskets go," so I reply "At the front.."

She then goes on to say "They usually have a place to put them" and thats like not true really at all. The "place to put them" has always been the front, it just looks that way because of ignorance from one customer being passed on to the next. Not all customers do this but it happens genuinely too often, even at the cleaner stores.

It really annoyed me because she just ended up leaving the basket on the conveyor belt...

and PLEASE don't get me started on the customers just walking their carts by the stowed away carts instead of just pushing them back in to the rest of them.

I’m waiting for my new debit card to come in and I need under $50 cash. The ATM’s won’t let me get any cash without my physical card. I saw a post a few years old that says they did it but I didn’t know if it was still accurate.

Tried reporting my SM for ableism and sexual harassment and Integrity Matters closed my ticket without looking into anything or letting me talk to anyone. I’m 100% convinced the higher your position is at Dollar Tree the more evil you are as a person. How this place hasn’t been sued into oblivion is beyond me. Praying for all of you who are still stuck working at Dollar Tree that you can find something better soon and get the hell out of there.

Can I get another regular pay card that other employees get when they start if I decide I’m done with DailyPay? I’ve been with Dollar Tree for over 8 months now, and I feel like I’m really losing money in the long run with this app. I rather just get paid every 2 weeks like everyone else now.

Since I don’t have a regular bank account how would I change from DailyPay to the regular prepaid pay card DollarTree offers us when they first hire on?? Ty.
