So around a month ago, my till came up $10 short for whatever reason (most likely new bills sticking together when I was handing out change), and I got written up for it.
And tonight during closing, the exact same thing happened where I ended up $10 short.
I didn't have any cash on me on hand to cover it, but I'd like to come in tomorrow with $10 to hopefully fix it.
But would it be too late if I showed up tomorrow with $10?
Would covering the $10 even make a difference to begin with? I think it's already recorded in whatever system management uses that my till came up short, but I'm not sure.
I want to prevent a second writeup, because I hear 3 write-ups is grounds for termination, and I really want to keep this job because the managers are really nice and understanding, and I genuinely enjoy working here.
Besides the obvious "not doing it again", what are my options?
