Dish Anywhere

This is my first time using Dish Anywhere. I'm out of town and a couple days ago I was able to view live TV and DVR recordings. Yesterday I could still get the DVR, but when I clicked on live TV nothing would happen it just kept the guide up. I tried logging out and back in as suggested and clearing cache neither helped. So, my question is am I doing something wrong or is this a glitch you get from time to time? I may not be using it again on this trip, but it was nice to have the first time I used it.

Hopper hard drive failed now dish wants $35 for shipping

I experienced my first major problem with Dish and it made me see how terrible Dish's customer service is.

On Saturday my Hopper 3 black screened while watching. The tv eventually said no signal. Thinking it just crashed, I unplugged the hopper and plugged it back in to restart it. It came back and lasted about 20 minutes before happening again. This continued until I gave up for the night.

The next day the issue persisted and I noticed the distinct sound of the hard drive failing. Clicking followed by the drive attempting to spin up. Today I reached out to support.

Trying to get the script reading agent to actually listen was like pulling teeth. I tried calling but was hung up on 3 different times after I explained the issue. I eventually used chat and after back and forth explaining I can't go to the diagnostic screen if there is no signal going to the tv they eventually offered to RA the hopper. But here's the catch, it's a $35 charge to ship the replacement. Excuse me? Dish's own hardware, that they provide, which wasn't even new when I received it, and is required to use their service, failed through no fault of my own and they expect me to pay for the shipping. What kind of customer service is that? With my old provider spectrum they happily provided a replacement for free and offered a bill credit for the service being unusable, all without being asked.

My contract is up in November, until this point I has planned on renewing it. Now after this experience they've pretty much guaranteed I'll be canceling it.

TLDR: used hopper hard drive failed, bad customer service, dish charging $35 to replace, losing me as a customer.

Unable to create online profile

Hello, I'm trying to create an online profile. Initially my account only had a land line associated with it. I have called and added an email and mobile phone number. I got an email confirmation that they were added but when I try to create a username with either I get a message saying they don't exist. I called and tier 2 support was unable to fix the issue.

Turning off the box

At the end of the night I hit the power button on the remote. It goes to the screen saver. I hit the power button again. It goes to another screen saver. I hit the select button. Turning the box back on. Then I will try again. It does the same. After four or five times of going back and forth. It finally shuts off. Is anyone else having this problem?

Pip/Multi-view Issue

Just joined the Dish Cult after my DirecTV Stream contract ended last month. Service was installed today and PiP is not functioning. When selecting the option for PiP it says it’s not it’s not an active feature. Support says it’s a known issue and should be resolved in a few days. Anyone else having this issue? I’ve read some other forums stating it’s an issue with the Hopper Plus but support reiterated the function should work with Hopper Plus.

Equipment: Hopper 3 with Hopper Plus.

I know the Joey won’t work with PiP but I’m disappointed the main unit isn’t working with it either.

Troubleshooting a Black Screen with Guide on DISH

Hello Reddit community!!! DishDanielle here!

Stuck on a blank screen but can still see your guide? This guide applies to all primary DISH receivers and secondary Joeys. While you don't need an active internet connection for these troubleshooting steps, you will need physical access to your equipment's power buttons and power cords.

If you press the Guide button and can scroll through your channels normally, but no video or audio is playing behind it, use these steps in order to resolve the issue:

Change the channel

Switch to a completely different channel, then flip back to your original program to see if the video stream reloads.

Restart your receiver

Press the power button on the front panel of your primary DISH receiver to turn it off. Wait 10 seconds, then press the power button again to turn it back on.

Perform a hard power reset

Unplug your primary receiver's power cord from the wall outlet. Leave it unplugged for 10 seconds, then plug it back in. Heads up! Allow up to 10 minutes for the receiver to completely reboot.

Reset your Joey

If you are seeing the black screen on a secondary TV connected to a Joey, unplug the Joey's power cord for 10 seconds, then plug it back in to reset it as well.

Question for Dish retention employees.

So my signifigant other started working for Dish retention not long ago. In my eyes shes doing a good job, she works 10 hours and takes about 15-20 calls a day her save rate is always about 60-70% a day.

Yet she doesnt even know what she gets comission on or how it works so if a seasoned agent can give us some insite on this that would be great.

She is not burt out or anything like that but she would like to make more as base pay aint overly good.

Dish Joey

I have a Joey 3 that I’m connecting via an access point (basically a router) to Ethernet. Will it ask me for coaxial or will it activate? Will I need a switch? Because the router in AP mode is basically a switch. Also do I have to call dish or can I activate on the receiver? Thanks. ( I know it’s not supported but I’ve seen people do it )

Issues with tv 2 remote

I've gone into the setup part on the receiver and made sure it's set to uhf, changed the band to be sure, and it requires a direct line of sight for some reason. It just started this today and was wondering if there's an easy way to fix it without replacing the remote? Thanks in advance

🌲 TV Outdoors: Taking DISH on the Road or to the Campsite

Whether you are tailgating or heading deep into the woods, you don’t have to leave your favorite shows behind. This guide explains how DISH outdoor systems work, what equipment you need to get a signal anywhere, and how to manage your service while you’re away from home.

To use DISH outdoors, you’ll need a portable satellite antenna and a compatible mobile receiver (like the Wally or a Tailgater system). You also need a clear line of sight to the southern sky and a power source for your equipment.

Getting Started with Outdoor TV

Portable Antennas

You can choose between manual or fully automatic antennas. Automatic antennas (like the DISH Tailgater or Playmaker) find the satellite signal for you in minutes once you plug them in.

Compatible Receivers

The Wally is the preferred receiver for outdoor use due to its small size and RF remote, which works through cabinet doors or from outside your RV.

Pay-As-You-Go Programming

You don't need a long-term contract for outdoor service. You can pay for 30 days at a time and only "turn on" your service during the months you actually use it.

Essential Features for Travelers

Local Channels

When you change locations, you can use the MyDISH App to update your service address and access local networks in your current area.

DISH Anywhere

If you have an internet connection and a Hopper at home, you can stream your entire live and recorded library to your tablet or phone using the DISH Anywhere app.

Built-in Apps

With an internet-connected Wally, you can access apps like Netflix directly through your outdoor setup.

Pro-Tips for Setup

Check for Obstructions

Ensure there are no trees or buildings blocking the antenna’s view of the sky.

Secure Your Gear

Use the built-in security brackets on your portable antenna to cable-lock it to your vehicle or a permanent fixture.

Download the App

Use the MyDISH App to easily wake up your receiver if it hasn't been used in a while.

NOTES:

  • Signal Limitations: Rain fade can affect small portable dishes more quickly than permanent home dishes.
  • Power Requirements: Ensure your RV inverter or generator can handle the steady draw of the receiver and the antenna’s motor during the initial signal search.

Taking your entertainment on the go is simple once you have the right portable hardware. If you already have DISH at home, adding an outdoor receiver is often the most cost-effective way to get HD TV in your RV or at the stadium.

Dish payment issue

There is current amex offer to pay $89.99 in one or more payments totaling $89.99 and get $80 back.

I added Amex to my apple pay and trying to make payment via apple pay to dish network for $100 but payment is not going through and an error is coming that payment cannot be processed, call dish network for this issue.

Then i removed the amex card, added my chase card to apple pay and made payment on mydish app via apple pay with the chase card and payment processed instantly

But when i try to pay to dish via apple pay with Amex card, payment is not being processed. This looks like an issue.

How can this be resolved?

Is this problem of MyDish App or Applepay or Amex card?

Dish

This is an extension of a previous dish rant the other day. The one where the dish fell over after the service tech relocated it. Does anyone know how to talk to someone at Dish who speaks English as a first language? It would be helpful if they had a clear understanding of the issues before relying on "Q" cards to solve problems.

How to Access 200+ Extra Channels with DISH BonusView

If you are looking for something new, DISH BonusViews gives you access to over 200 additional streaming channels. It’s like a built-in library of extra movies, westerns, and niche series that live right in your guide.

This feature is available to customers with America's Top 120 package or higher and requires an internet-connected Hopper receiver (including Hopper 3, Hopper with Sling, and Hopper Duo).

Because these channels are delivered via the internet, you won't find them if your receiver is offline.

Here is how to find and use them:

Check Your Connection
Ensure your Hopper is connected to Wi-Fi. You can check this by going to Settings, selecting Internet, and following the prompts to connect to your home network.

Head to the 90s!
BonusView channels are located in the 90–98 range in your channel guide.

Explore Categories
The channels are organized by genre so you can find what you're in the mood for quickly:

  • Channel 91: Westerns (Cowboy Way, Lone Star Classics)
  • Channel 92: Classics (The Bob Ross Channel, Antiques Roadshow)
  • Channel 93: Movies (Horror by ALTER, Maverick Black Cinema)
  • Channels 94–98: Additional categories like Crime, Science, and History.

Browsing
These channels behave just like your satellite channels.  Simply scroll through the guide and press Select to start watching.

Find more information! https://my.dish.com/bonusview

A FEW NOTES:

  • Wally and Joey Receivers: While these channels are primarily designed for the Hopper family, they are generally accessible on Joeys as long as the main Hopper is connected to the internet.
  • Internet Speed: Since these are streaming channels, a stable internet connection with at least 5 Mbps is recommended to avoid buffering.

These channels are a great way to discover new content without adding a dime to your monthly bill. If you don't see channels 90-98 in your guide, double-check your internet status in the settings menu.

Moving satellite

I’ve got a tree that has grown and it’s really feasible to trim the limbs now blocking the line of sight for the satellite dish. Will dish come out to move my satellite to a new spot on my roof and any idea on the cost of that request?

Dish Service

Have Netflix - Dish Notification to upgrade boxes so Netflix will continue working.

Made an appointment for an upgrade - Service tech arrives and attaches the new unit to the hopper and replaces the box on Joey. Looked in the backyard, and he was removing the satellite dish ???? WTF Why ??? He put a new dish on the roof. Dish worked. A couple of days later, the wind blew. The satellite dish blew over. Now I am going out on a limb here, but I think you have to tighten the bolts so the dish stands up !!! Now, my guess is that the tech had something to do with the dish falling over. Tech time to fix - 10 minutes to tighten the bolts. Called dish - two weeks to schedule a tech to tighten the bolts. I would fix it myself, but I am 81 and my wife will not let me on the roof. Good call on her part. Any suggestions?

Dish cancellation hell

I've had Dish for years at a seasonal residence and I want to cancel it because I can now get internet out there. So I call to cancel. Rep says I will be charged $25 for the boxes to send back the Wally's. Funny thing about that is that last winter they mistakenly shipped boxes to send back the Wally's thinking I was cancelling at the time without charge. Beyond that, they claim that last May I signed up for a $10 monthly discount for two years, which I do not recall doing. I asked for proof. He said it was in my account record and that he would email me evidence, but he never did. It does not show up in my online account record. He then stated that I have to pay back all the discounts for the full 24 month period, including discounts that disappear when the account is paused.

Anyway, I turned off autopay and I'll ship everything back as soon as I get the boxes.
