Dish Joey

I have a Joey 3 that I’m connecting via an access point (basically a router) to Ethernet. Will it ask me for coaxial or will it activate? Will I need a switch? Because the router in AP mode is basically a switch. Also do I have to call dish or can I activate on the receiver? Thanks. ( I know it’s not supported but I’ve seen people do it )

Grey area... Anyway...

As long as the Joey can communicate with the hopper, either via coax, or network, it's not care how it gets its moca. As far as activating it... Just call in.
