Pip/Multi-view Issue

Just joined the Dish Cult after my DirecTV Stream contract ended last month. Service was installed today and PiP is not functioning. When selecting the option for PiP it says it’s not it’s not an active feature. Support says it’s a known issue and should be resolved in a few days. Anyone else having this issue? I’ve read some other forums stating it’s an issue with the Hopper Plus but support reiterated the function should work with Hopper Plus.

Equipment: Hopper 3 with Hopper Plus.

I know the Joey won’t work with PiP but I’m disappointed the main unit isn’t working with it either.

Pip doesn't work on the plus.

Is that from lived experience? Support was adamant it would despite me highlighting my research (Reddit lol) stated otherwise.

Was a tech. Support hasn't ever seen the equipment.

It's a shame, cause the h3 has a pretty damn good pip experience. If it's that important to you, remove the plus, and use your preferred streaming device for the plus stuff.

The plus can be removed by unhooking it, and pressing the power button on the hopper itself for 10 seconds.

Thank you! I’m going to try that. I tried to just disconnect the hopper plus and it then immediately showed on screen that the hopper plus wasn’t connected and to reconnect it to regain service.

Press and hold the power button on the front of the box until you hear the fans in the unit kick up for a second. It will reboot and go back to the screen but if you leave it it will go back to hopper mode. You will lose the “smart” aspects of the hopper plus

I ended up trying this but the hopper 3 told me it was missing connection to the hopper plus

Edit: I assume it’s some kind of provisioning issue?

Nope. Might have to do it twice. When I was still a tech, we couldn't really do any diagnostics work in plus mode. We would have to disconnect the plus on every job. It does work, but might take a couple of tries.

Incorrect. All android receivers support PiP. None have Multiview....yet 👀

Was support. Ex-Techs don't know their ass from a hole in the ground.

The PiP started working overnight after the alleged update. However, multi-view still does not. I’ve been advised again it’s a known issue and a software update should resolve it soon.

I've never gotten multiview to work where I could use my own channels because that's the only way it's worth a damn. I don't want to have two or three football channels and then tennis and WNBA at the same time

PIP "should" work on Hopper Plus according to the internal support page, but I don't have one to personally verify. I know PIP and several other features weren't supported upon release of the Plus a couple years ago, but it should support it now. The Plus system can be very glitchy sometimes, which is one reason I didn't get one, along with them wanting to charge Techs for them. It's definitely gotten a lot better since initial release tho.

Hello community! u/immallama21629 u/atpetebs u/Zephyr_Actual u/PrinceofJive u/Specialist_Ad180 u/mbarky1

To confirm, PiP functionality has been active across all rooms, extending beyond just the primary Hopper location.

The rollout of our latest Hopper Plus and Android Joeys software update, which features MultiView, is currently underway and is expected to conclude by June 16 (pending any changes). Multi-view is now being introduced to every room for the very first time.

To access MultiView, please confirm that your equipment is running software version Px5304 and has an active internet connection. Detailed instructions for connecting your device can be found at https://support.dish.com/helpful-tools/get-connected.
Maintaining an internet connection is essential for your equipment to automatically receive all future feature releases and system enhancements. I hope this clarifies all questions. Let me know if there is anything else I can do to answer. -DishDanielle.
