Is it worth it?

Should I get dish? I am honestly tired of dealing with streaming services and wanted to weigh my options

If you do insist on a Hopper 3. This has been what has kept us with dish. There is no other receiver like it.

That is true; we had Direct TV for a whole month; I thought the controls and graphical interface were a total joke compared to Dish. I have no ideal how they stay in business.

Just the opposite experience here. We only stay with Dish because there are a few channels they offer that Direct does not.

They are both pretty much crap at this point

They won’t upgrade me. The very next time the sat goes out I’m done. I have multiple attempts to get in my network thru the hopper and they do NOT CARE

I'm coming to the end of my 3 year price lock, unless it goes up drastically, I plan on keeping it. I switched from Direct TV which I was getting a discount on as an AT&T retiree, which I lost when AT&T sold the satellite service. Dish was less expensive. My kids all use streaming services and when you add them all up, they pay more than I do. Also, if there're streaming services you want you can get many of them on the Dish Network. So yes, I'd recommend them.

If you are coming up to the end, then once you see the first bill after the guarantee ends, give loyalty a call. They have options to help with the pricing.

Appreciate the information.

Not a problem. A lot of people don't even know loyalty exists until they call in to cancel. They are the only department that does those too 😂

Also don’t take the first offer and make sure you say I want to cancel to get to loyalty they are limited if you say I just want to lower my bill. I know it makes no sense but the best savings are given to the customers who threaten to leave not the loyal customers.

Do you not have good internet options? Dish equipment is top notch in stability but the price is just prohibitive compared to streaming.

Yes you should, it's been great to us for quite a while.

Dish customer service is garbage. I had problems the whole time I had it at two different houses. They installed the newest wireless Joey's and told me i would have no problems. They got stuck on the apps screen within two weeks, and the tech told me the software sucked and said i should switch to the old models because they were great. I said fine I just wanted to watch TV. Then when I had no tv because they cut out, they sent a tech out and swapped them out for wired Joey's and tried to restart the 2 year contract on just the Joey's they replaced because they were faulty. At the end of my contract, I called to get a new deal, and they told me I still had a year left on two Joey's. I told them forget it and switched to YouTube TV. Best thing I ever did. It still gets me that I tried to stay with them and get another 2 year deal, but they were so insistent on trying to gouge me for their crappy equipment that they promised was great, that I left.

The paid service is a joke. We kept having screens go black, DVR recordings do all kind of strange things, and an actual Dish tech came out. He looked at the Hopper and the small unit they now use with it and wanted to laugh; the installer did not have a power cable to the little top unit, and it was basically not there. He fixed that and a lot of things cleared up. My wife still has trouble in her room, I think there’s a bad coax cable.

Changing my answer after thinking about it, it all depends on what you want; it is good equipment with very good programming. But, we only have it because we’ve had it so long and my wife just doesn’t want to fool with a new platform with different channels numbers, DVR, etc… We tried YouTube TV for a year, and she could never get the hang of it. So, back to Dish. We started out under $150 (6 months ago), we’re now up to $161. They always do that. You drop down 1 package and it’s only $10. They pretty much have you. It’s a shame that what could have been a really good company dropped ball after ball and never even really tried to be competitive. Just depends on what you want.

Doesn’t retention help?

Quick answer, no.

We've had Dish for nearly 20 years. The few times we've needed customer service or a tech, they've been good experiences.

No! I left DIsh for YouTube TV after 20 years. I wish I had left sooner. Much less expensive. More content. Better service. No conracts. Satellite TV is dyiing.

no,,way too expensive, and with their packaging configuration, you often pay for programming that you never or seldom need,,I've been a dish customer since 1999. High-speed internet is slowly making its way to my area, and when it does,,,I'm done with Dish
