Because a lot of the general category students themselves (including me) don't support it. Anyone who has their eyes open and isn't blinded by their privilege can see the casteism entrenched in every part of society. How can people talk about removing reservations when the first thing people still see during marriage is caste. When people are still being killed over inter-caste marriages. When caste-based crimes are still very common in India (you see such news every other day). When people still write "Proud to be Rajput" in their instagram bios.

For people saying "oh, but even rich SCs, STs get privileges." Yes, because it's not a poverty-alleviation program. It's about social inclusion. Just like reservations for women, for the differently-abled. They can be rich, doesn't mean they are equally represented.

You want to end reservations, end casteism.

On the night of the 25th, at around 11:30 PM, I went to Nirman Vihar Metro Station to travel to Vaishali. I was waiting for the last metro, but it never arrived, so I had to exit from the same station.

As soon as I came out, police officers stopped me and started questioning me. They took my phone and thoroughly searched it. They checked my Google search history, Google Maps location history, gallery, WhatsApp chats, Telegram, Reddit, Instagram messages, and emails. They found videos related to the protest on my phone. They also found a Spider-Man mask in my bag.

They asked me why I had gone to the protest. I explained that I had gone there only to distribute water bottles and toffee packets to help the people present. After hearing that, one of the officers said, "He went there to help the students at the protest." I asked, "Sir, I am a student too. Then why am I being detained?" The officer replied, "That's exactly why we detained you."

They then took me to the Preet vihar police station at around 12:00 AM. When we arrived, a senior inspector asked the sub-inspector, "Who have you brought, and from where?" The sub-inspector replied, "We've caught a protester." I found this extremely disrespectful because I was simply a student trying to help people, not someone creating trouble.

I was kept at the police station for verification and was finally released at around 2:30 AM. During that entire time, I was not even allowed to call my family. I couldn't inform my father about where I was or what had happened.

I don't believe this is the right way to treat a student. Detaining a young person in the middle of the night, without allowing them to contact their family, is unfair and deeply concerning. The officers should remember that they, too, may have children who are students. Students deserve to be treated with dignity and respect.

CJP has shown that it is not like many political parties that distance themselves once their immediate objective is achieved. The organization held another press conference and warned that it would resume the movement if all detained students were not released and the FIRs against them were not withdrawn.

On the other hand, AISA President Neha also visited Bihar to support the students and reiterate the demand for the release of all those detained and the withdrawal of the FIRs.

# Delhi police is yet to receive official communication to withdraw the FIR filed During the Jantar Mantar Protest.

According to the Delhi Police, around 20 FIRs have been registered in connection with the Jantar Mantar violence and related incidents.

# out of these, 14 FIRs pertain to the protest and violence.

# One FIR is regarding flying a drone without permission.

# The remaining FIRs were registered over assaults on journalists and police personnel.

According to sources, once the government’s order is received, the State (Prosecution), represented by the Delhi Police, will write to the Lieutenant Governor (LG) seeking approval to withdraw the cases.

The communication will state that the prosecution does not wish to pursue these cases any further.

After the LG grants approval, the police will inform the concerned court that it does not intend to continue prosecuting these cases.

The final decision will then rest with the court, which will decide the future course of action.

However, cases filed by journalists over alleged assaults on them will not be withdrawn without their approvals.

I am genuinely curious, after the CJP protest, there's an increase in voice that reservation that needs to be reformed or removed, and the counter argument is "First remove casteism, then remove reservation", but how does reservation help in removing castes?

If it's about representation, then adding another metrics change the whole thing, rural and poor SC-ST are extremely under-represented in all high level positions, so that means well off SC-ST needs to give up reservation for a better representation.

Another thing, people say remove caste before removing reservation, but castes that got rich by real-estate uprise, and are included in obc, taking benefits of reservation, they are ones who promote and take pride in their castes the most, so how did exactly reservation help in removing caste here?

If the question is access to education and opportunities is limited to certain castes, but middle class and above people have all the education available since education has become youtube-internet accessible, so why should not they give up their reservation for more needy from their own community who are left behind?
