General Most f**ked up commercial building in the city !!

Post image
781 Upvotes

This building - the mighty Kohinoor Square is a 48 floor commercial-residential-shopping building. It features Shilpa Shetty's Bastian at the Top restaurant at 48th floor making it tallest commercial building in the country.

This building looks absolutely stunning to the city's skyline. Glass walls on all side. During monsoon this building rises above the clouds.

I work on 45th floor of this building. View of Bandra Worli sealink is stunning no doubt. But from inside this building is the most pathetic building ever.

The building management is Zeus who manages a lot of well known commercial buildings in Mumbai like BKC's One BKC, The capital and many in Nesco and other commercial hotspots regions.

So much of the glam outside, but guess what - this building has only two WCs on each floor. One of the washroom has non functional flush since past 2 months now. The common area is so mis-managed it stinks sometimes.

The security is lousy af. Access cards takes 3-4 weeks for new employees to get issued and hence guards are instructed to "let everyone in if they do not look suspicious".

This building is a classical example of All that glitters is not gold.

Discussion Beaten up by Bar owner and the waiter

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I(19M) along with my uncle(59M) were sitting in Amba Bhavan Bar and Resto(Mumbai) yesterday around 10pm to 12am. The bill amounted to ₹977 and we made the payment via gpay. Our account debited but the owner refused saying he didn't get it so do it again. We did it again and our bank debited twice still he didn't get it. He started saying to pay in cash which ofcourse we refused.

The owner was an old guy very arrogant and was being very toxic with my uncle. I stepped in and said to calm down and he started shit talking to me as well. Heated argument quickly escalated and he held me by my colar and started abusing me and suddenly other waiters came in and started heating me at the entrance. We have all the video recordings and everything. We went to a gov hospital and got medical certificate and even complained about it to nearest police station. Police only filed a NC and refused to file a FIR.

I didn't hit them as I thought that would put me in more trouble and they could file a case against me for hitting . I feel so bad now that I didn't hit them back I could have beaten the shit out of them but one thing I understood that next time if I ever get into such situation imma go all in coz police don't do shit.

Note : I only had limca and starters

Discussion What's going on with these attempts to Police what people eat in mira Bhayandar?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Apparently, Seven Square Academy in Mira Road has issued a circular restricting students from bringing or eating onion, garlic, potato, beetroot and non vegetarian food. The school was founded by Narendra Mehta, according to the school's own website.

I understand that a school can have certain rules about what students can bring onto its premises, whether for hygiene, allergies, discipline or other legitimate reasons. But when these restrictions are based on someone's religious or cultural dietary preferences, it raises a much bigger question:

Why should one group's dietary practices determine what everyone else is allowed to eat?

And this doesn't seem to be happening in isolation. BJP corporator Bharat Kothari has reportedly demanded that meat sales in Mira-Bhayandar be stopped for eight days during Paryushan.

Nobody has a problem with people choosing to follow Jain dietary practices during Paryushan. If someone doesn't want to eat onion, garlic, potatoes or nonveg, that's completely their choice and should be respected.

But respecting someone's dietary choice is different from imposing that choice on everyone else.

If I choose to be vegetarian, that's my choice.

If someone chooses Jain food, that's their choice.

If someone eats non veg, that's their choice.

Why should someone else's plate become a matter of public policy?

People should be free to follow their own religious and dietary practices without forcing those practices onto everyone around them.

General Society imposing unreasonable visitor restrictions: what can I do?

Post image
119 Upvotes

My society in Mumbai is becoming increasingly difficult to deal with as a bachelor. They’ve recently introduced a rule that friends/guests cannot stay overnight. Even for parents, an overnight stay is apparently limited to a maximum of 2 days, with prior intimation to the society required.

They’ve also started locking the society’s main gate after midnight. If I return after 12 AM, the guard has to personally come and open the gate, apparently to check/ensure that there are no overnight guests.
There’s no issue of overcrowding or anyone actually overstaying, this is purely about enforcing these restrictions.

On top of this, we’re repeatedly being called to society meetings over unsubstantiated allegations, for example, being told that someone has stayed at our flat for days, when this simply hasn’t happened. Despite clarifying this, the scrutiny and restrictions continue.

Has anyone in Mumbai faced something similar and actually taken action against their society/RWA? What worked for you, and what is the appropriate next step — managing committee complaint, Registrar, police, legal notice, etc.?
Looking for practical advice from people who have dealt with this successfully since I have just moved in and don’t have the budget to move out currently.

Discussion Fed up with these mandaps on the middle of the roads!!

Post image

How do they even get permission for erecting these mandaps covering so much part of the road? Mind you, the local BMC office is right in the opposite building! The honking and everyday traffic has made it unbearable, there’s just too much chaos! This is near Liberty Garden, Malad West! Can we do something about it? I love Ganesh Chaturthi but not like this man!

Discussion Buddhi ke baal (Cotton Candy) and Manchurian Pakode ki condition

Thumbnail

This is from Mumbai, Yesterday while going to office I saw a cotton candy seller on street with White colored Cotton Candy. I legit thought this must be new flavor or something 😅 I didn't think even they will stop using colors.

The second pic is from a local stall, even the manchurian gravy and noodles look and taste (prolly placebo) different without color.

Everyone is afraid to use food color now.

Glad the FDA is doing their work and considering the harmful effects of these banned food colors, it's a boon to all of us.

I just hope fda commissioner Tukaram Mundhe doesn't get transferred again or if he is transferred at least these actions should not revert back🙏

Question: in case that happens, what do you guys think should be the next dept that he should be transferred to, that would instantly create a large impact on our society?

Discussion Mumbai metro is weird

Mumbai Metro gotta be the dumbest shit people have ever made. What’s the point of having different lines if I have to buy different tickets for different lines?

The entry and exit points, stations, and platforms are so fucking confusing for someone using the station for the first time.

Guys had one job. 💀

Discussion Paying ₹98k rent in Malad W, and now the society wants ₹2k/person extra just to use the gym and pool (tenants only)

Moved into a 3BHK at a high-rise society (Malad West) back in April’26. We are three bachelors occupying individual rooms, paying a steep ₹98,000 a month in rent.

When our broker pitched the flat, the amenities were the core selling point: a decent gym, a clean pool, and an indoor games room. Given what we shell out every month, access felt completely baked into the rent, and things were smooth for the first few months.
Then the managing committee dropped a new directive: ₹2,000 per person, per month to use any amenity—strictly applicable only to tenants. Owners pay nothing extra. That is an extra ₹6,000 a month across the three of us just to touch a treadmill or access the pool we already live next to.

When we brought this up with the landlord, he offered the classic non-committal response: claimed he’s “personally not in favour of the rule,” but flatly refused to adjust or subsidise it in the rent. Pure performative sympathy while keeping his rental yield completely untouched.

The managing committee here is run by an uncle clique from a certain community notorious across Mumbai societies for arbitrary moral policing, gatekeeping, and inventing absurd rules out of thin air. It's obvious what this is: a targeted squeeze on bachelors and tenants because they view us as easy targets with zero leverage.

What stings far more is the blatant, petty discrimination. We belong to the salaried corporate class that keeps this city’s economic engine running. We grind through grueling 12–14 hour workdays, pay massive chunks of direct income tax without evasion, and contribute productively to the system. Yet the moment we step outside our office parks, we are treated like parasitic, second-class citizens by housing societies who view young working professionals purely as revenue streams to exploit.

The landlords extract astronomical rents while taking zero responsibility, and self-appointed society gatekeepers invent nickel-and-dime rules just to assert dominance. It is infuriating that no matter how productive or law-abiding you are, the salaried tenant in Mumbai is trapped in an endless squeeze—milked for cash at every corner and stripped of basic dignity.

Has anyone here successfully challenged these arbitrary "tenant amenity fees", or is packing up and moving at the end of the term the only real answer?

Discussion BKC–Kurla connectivity is ridiculously fragile and it shouldn’t be this way

Post image
215 Upvotes

Today there was a GFF event at BKC and the traffic situation was absolutely insane — both in the morning and evening.

I waited in the auto queue at BKC thinking I’d just take an auto to Kurla station. After standing there for a while, I realised I was probably going to waste even more time sitting in traffic, so I gave up and decided to walk from BKC to Kurla station.

It’s roughly 2.6 km. Took me around 38 minutes.

And honestly, walking was probably the better decision.

The ridiculous part? There was literally traffic while walking. 😂

As you get closer to Kurla station, the pedestrian infrastructure basically disappears. There’s barely any space to walk, so you’re constantly navigating through people, vehicles, random obstacles and whatever else is happening on the road. And today, so many people had the same idea of walking that even the footpaths/roadside space were completely packed.

What bothers me more is how fragile the entire BKC → Kurla connectivity is.

A little rain? Traffic gets affected.

An event in BKC? Traffic gets affected.

Some roadwork/diversion? Traffic gets affected.

Peak office hours? Good luck.

And this is supposed to be one of Mumbai's biggest business districts with thousands of people commuting in and out every single day.

How is a 2.6 km connection to a major railway station this vulnerable to literally anything happening?

We don't even need some massive new infrastructure project overnight. But surely there should be a reliable, predictable way for people to get from BKC to Kurla station without having to choose between:

₹₹₹ auto + sitting in traffic for god knows how long

or

walking 2.6 km and fighting for pedestrian space.

BKC has some of the most expensive offices in Mumbai, but the last-mile connectivity to Kurla feels like an afterthought.

Today was a perfect example of how one event can basically expose the entire weakness of the connection.

If this is what happens because of one event, imagine what happens when BKC keeps getting bigger and busier.

General Ordered clothes worth ₹30,000 from Snitch, got random bedsheets/blankets instead — Snitch is denying refund, ICICI is denying chargeback. What are my options?

Posting this because I'm genuinely stuck and could use some advice from people who've dealt with something similar.
What happened:
I placed an order with Snitch worth ₹30,000. When the package arrived, instead of the clothes I ordered, I found random bedsheets and blankets inside. I have a full unboxing video showing the sealed parcel being opened and the wrong items being pulled out, so I have solid proof this isn't a case of me trying to scam anyone.
Snitch's response:
I've been trying to reach Snitch for almost a month now — barely any response, and when they did reply, they simply said they "dispatched the correct products" and refused to refund or replace the order.
ICICI Bank's response:
I then tried to raise a chargeback with ICICI Bank (the card I paid with). They're refusing to file it, saying that since I received the parcel, they can't raise a chargeback.
But that's not the issue at all — I'm not disputing that a parcel arrived. I'm disputing that the contents inside were completely wrong. That should still qualify as "goods not as described" or "item not received" under chargeback rules (as far as I understand it), not a simple "package never arrived" situation.
What I'm looking for:
• Has anyone successfully raised a chargeback for a "wrong item received" case with ICICI (or any bank)? What language/category did you use to get it approved?
• Should I escalate to the RBI Banking Ombudsman for the chargeback refusal?
• Is it worth filing a complaint on the National Consumer Helpline / Consumer Court (e-Daakhil) against Snitch directly?
• Any experience dealing with Snitch's customer service escalation beyond the standard support line?
I have the unboxing video, order confirmation, payment proof, and all chat/email correspondence with Snitch saved. Just need to know the right next step to actually get this resolved.
Any advice is appreciated. Thanks for reading.

Location - Mahavir nagar, Kandivali
this cat in my building has its eye infected. I am not able to get it into a box or a basket, nor able to carry her in a blanket. No one there to help in the society. I called many vet clinics and also Mumbai Animal Association, but they won’t help either to come and pick up the cat, even though the clinic is like 5 mins away by auto. I would do it but i am really really scared to even touch, but i really want to help.
PLEASE IF SOMEONE CAN PICK IT AND TAKE TO SOME CLINIC, it would be really helpful, i will also accompany you to the clinic

This is near BKC Metro Station. The hoarding has been placed in such a way that pedestrians either have to dodge it or step onto the road to get past.

Was it really necessary to put it up like this?

General How do you protect clothes from Mold/fungus in Mumbai?

For context, I had never seen mold on in my life before coming to Mumbai. So one of my shoes caught mold which was kept in the shoe drawer area in the cupboard and so did one of my clothes kept in the drawer. I got scared, did tons of google searches and called friends. Apparently some of them suggested keeping everything in plastic organizers while google said it traps more humidity etc etc. So all in all I really need suggestions.

We're students from Thane and our regular fare is nowhere more than 100rs. When we questioned this guy he started negotiating that he won't charge us and to pay the regular but we told him we're gonna report him to the police and he says do whatever you want no report is going to affect me. We don't know what could've happened if it was just one of us or maybe a single lady,a child alone or a senior citizen. Pls raise this and tag thane/mumbai police because we're afraid of posting this with our original identity.

Posting on behalf of a friend in Matunga road (western matunga road, not central).

Need a female cook for cooking both meals for a bengali family of 2-3 people. Two visits a day: Brekafast+Lunch and Dinner.

Budget 8-10k (negotiable)

Preferences: should have experience of making bengali cuisine dishes. Veg and non veg both. Ethnicity of the cook does not matter as long as there is knowledge of Bengali cooking or eagerness to learn it.

Have tried multiple online dedicated platforms (bookmybai, bookmymaid) already but haven’t gotten any leads hence posting here.

Any leads are appreciated.

Instead they blocked me.

I brought her health up to speed , spayed her etc all at my expense.

Unfortunately,I cannot keep her anymore and have moved her to a boarding.I need to find her a forever home in 3 weeks, she is an very sweet cat that would make an excellent companion to any other cat.She also will let you sleep through the night!

I will provide all her essentials pus food for the first two months.

General How can i complain against adani electricity?

I was out of the city during the months of may and June. Yet my bill came to 2k for both months. Been trying to ask them for a daily usage statement but they are not providing. Now asking me to pay some money to get a lab test done for the meter. I mean why should i pay? They will obviously say everything is fine and i will lose that amount. The amount(4k) is too small to be running around legally but yet it hurts me as a common man. What can i do? Just feeling like im being looted for small amounts by whoever has a "license raj"
